  1. If the Cubs finish the year with a 350 OBP they'll probably be leading the league in that category. Last time multiple teams had OBPs 350+ was 2000.
  2. If you've won the Cy Young Award seven (!!) times, you likely will be a unanimous 1st ballot HOF-er, and you can still pitch in the big leagues with an ERA consistently under 2.50 then you know what? You can do whatever you want. Clemens is one amazing dude. Yeah, but he's a jagoff.
  3. Not in this instance necessarily, but there's a lot of misinformation floated out there from front offices.
  4. incorrect Nope, it was correct because it was the only thing that I saw as wrong. Reviewing it, the Rich Hill date is off, likely because he looked at his log and saw him pitch in relief in that one marathon game. Correct again.
  5. Only thing I see in the clips posted is the 2 position players part, but it's technically true as he said a year ago, and a year ago Lee was on the DL Jones was in RF, and Izturis was in LA. Kind of a stupid point to make even if it's technically true.
  6. You can go a long way towards 90+ wins just by beating up on the crap teams and playing 500 against the good ones. Especially in the NL where there's an abundance of crap, and not a lot of the goods. agreed. Back to the old saying, "beat the teams you should". Last year's team sucked at that. It doesn't work when you're one of "the teams you should beat"

  8. I think they're about equal talent wise, but right now projecting forward, you'd have to give it to the Brewers based on the early lead. But one can still say the Brewers are a better team without saying stuff like Estrada is equal to Barrett and Ben Sheets is better than Zambrano cause Z is an injury risk.
  9. Just like he isn't hitting 410 this year, he isn't going to hit HRs at his current pace. What proves this? I mean, we know he won't hit .400 because his babip is unsustainable, but what is there that says that his power will come around? Is there a precedent for a guy suddenly losing his power completely? I understand he had the wrist injury, but even with coming back early last year, playing a little hurt and his first ABs back from the injury he still hit at 25+ HR pace. The doubles are showing the power is still there.

  11. Barrett is not = Estrada.
  12. I always hear about Zambrano's emotions causing him to get out of hand, the problem is, you never really see it. A guy who lets his emotions get the best of him doesn't bounce back from a 4 run 1st to allow no more runs the rest of the way. Z's always been wild, he'll probably always be wild. But he's got a longer, better track record than Sheets and has managed to stay healthy throughout that time while Sheets has been bothered by nagging problems.
  13. I'm always happy to hear these guys get jobs with big league clubs. As long as it isn't Mitchell Lichtman.
  14. And a sensor to stop the radio from being turned too high. And a sensor when people are talking too much to passengers in the car. And when the car goes over the speed limit or changes lanes more than 4 times in an hour. Cribbed from baseballthinkfactory, but they're saying to reach his BAC we're talking ~10 beers in 2 hours. He knew what he was doing.
  15. Ahhh there it is. Zambrano will be worse because you don't like the way he acts.
  16. It was a rental car, it couldn't have been in there too long. Unless Enterprise is offering new services. I'm not saying it's impossible or even improbable that he was high at the time, but the mere presence far from guarantees it. He had a lot of weed in there, doesn't it follow from everyone's logic that he must be smoking all of it on that car ride. He may have smoked it earlier in the night, he may have not wanted to keep it around his hotel/apartment, he may have just got it from somebody at Shannon's. I'm not even one to say wait until everything is proven before assuming things, as I assumed he was drunk as soon as I heard the accident repot, but I'm not convinced he was high.
  17. With a 4th hand on the phone. Word around my office via St. Louis is that he was texting back and forth with one of the strippers from the club, with the last text not long before the crash.
  18. Uhhh.... Whatever, dude. I see your point now.
  19. I won't miss that guy when Conan takes over next year. He's right, though. My favorite Leno Cubs joke is "Tiger Woods had a long layover in Chicago today. While he was waiting, he beat the Cubs 1-0." My favorite Leno joke is...I got nothin.
  20. Having the weed in his car doesn't mean he had been smoking it recently.
  21. You forgot meaningless home runs.
  22. Only jerks think about themselves. What a selfish jerk. I think this is when Sammy Sosa says, "Who's Josh Towers?" How dare anyone criticize the mighty Sammy. How dare Josh Towers say anything. About anyone.
