  1. Which is why my daughters first game will be at Miller Park to see the Brewers. My wife thinks I'm crazy b/c I will not allow any Cubs clothes be given to our new born. That's a horrible thing to do to your child.
  2. And the one good thing I'll ever say about Cards fans, sorry regulars, is that they don't go nuts and call Ankiel all sorts of names, make their amateur diagnoses, and make lame ass jokes every chance they get. Then again, the only Cards fans I get to hear from are ones that make the cut here, so that could be why they seem more rational and level headed.
  3. Come on we've gone 2 pages and nobody's slammed Ramirez about this.
  4. Instead of leaving work around 1130, and going to the game, I got to stay at work and have nothing to occupy my time during the day.
  5. Howry's been doing it for 2.5 years running now. I have no problem with his signing. Not EVERY reliever is unpredictable, at some point a reliever proves himself. Eyre was a bad signing. I agree in theory that a good bullpen can be assembled on the cheap. The problem is that you wind up wasting time churning through replacement pitchers while looking for the guys that are going to click. It's the same argument that came up in the Lee/Choi thread. At some points you have to pay a premium for a certain level of certainty. With Choi in '04 he had the possibility of being everything Lee was at that moment, as soon as the next season. But the Cubs wanted the certainty from the position and got Lee from it. It's quite possible there are 7 guys in the Cubs's AA-AAA that can put up 3-4 ERAs in the majors out of the pen, but the certainty of having a guy who can do it is worth money.
  6. Kelvin Samspon's a jerk!
  7. Neifi hit like 370 that one April.
  8. If this isn't a joke then somebody got on Meph's account.
  9. At this rate he might break Aaron's 755 this year. I assumed he meant Bonds's all time record once he passes Aaron during the year.
  10. Ill be surprised if he's still there in five weeks. depends on how Duffy does in CF. Doesn't seem like a great move to jump him to Indianapolis at this point. He seems like the kind of player who should go from AA to the majors. I don't think Duffy, or anyone, is a factor. This kid is going to be a very good ball player. Some think he's ready now. If Duffy is hitting, look for McCutchen to move to Right. And Nady?
  11. Harold Baines negative 10 years I believe is the quickest.
  12. Miller Park is brutal.
  13. Your problem with Wrigleyville seems to be your main problem with the field. I've heard the same complaints about the neighborhood from people who've lived there, but it's not reason enough to move the Cubs out.
  14. BeerHere, if you don't mind my asking, where do you live? I don't exactly live off the El stop, with the closest one being about 5 miles from my house,(cause really who cares about the south siders) but I've never had a problem parking for free, or in rare occurences for about 2 bucks at the train station and going from there. I can't imagine you wouldn't have a similar option.
  15. Me too, but for completely different reasons. Your great memories as a kid of watching games at Wrigley, was it because of the exploding scoreboard and speed pitch they had back then, or was it the rotissierie chicken stand? I would much rather get on a crowded el train than wait for a half hour in a parking lot to get out like you do in every parking lot anywhere in the country. Where do you live that an el to a remote parking lot or an el to a metra doesn't work out for you? Regarding Arlington, unless you were there for the Million, it's irrelevant. Arlington isn't packing in 40,000 a day. I'd be surprised if they're bringing in 10,000. Regarding sight lines, as I already predicted earlier, people look to the obstructed views on the main level and ignore the far superior sight lines in the upper deck. Saying the Cell has better sight lines than Wrigley is ridiculous when you take into account the upper decks.
  16. Maybe it's cause I went to guys high school without doors on the stalls, and then lived in college apartments and houses, and hung out in college bars, the bathrooms really don't bother me. I think the troughs are quaint.
  17. Stay at College Station Billy!!
  18. Yeah I honestly don't get this. The only complaint I ever hear that makes sense is the obstructed view, always neglecting the far superior view from the upper deck that those obstructed views provide.
  19. Well it seems his Brain passed away some time ago as did the functionallity of his Right Arm. AND HIS PENIS
  20. He's an immature brat, I'll never cheer for him, but damn can he rake.
