Just out of curiosity, where are these numbers from? The baseball reference site has different win totals. I never would have noticed this except that I was recently perusing all-time franchise wins at baseball reference, and noticed a discrepancy of almost 1000 wins for STL. B-R's #s update in-season, so the Cubs are up to 9947 right now. My guess on the St. Louis discrepancy is that it has something to do with the inclusion/exclusion of American Association wins tallied by St. Louis.

We have won one playoff series in the last 100 years and Kerry is the main reason for it. That is why he can do nothing for three years yet still be the best. Too bad game 7 happened? Where was he in that one? Pitching unlike where he would've been if somebody else pitched games 1 and 5 of the NLDS. But yeah, what a douchebag, he didn't pitch lights out in all 4 of his postseason starts. Let's kill him.

no, I just could never stand him and thought he sucked at his job, and I never understood how other Cub fans could, or how he became an icon simply because he was a drunken idiot. on the other sentiments you expressed, I am largely in agreement. People liked Haray because he was a character, but not a caricature. Additionally he actually knew some baseball.

i hope it happens, he's one of the best leadoff men of all time. the only one who i can say who has been definitely been better is mr. rickey. I'd give the nod to Tim Raines.

The problem is DeRosa would be our 1B and RF vs. lefties. We're going to have to have Floyd or Ward start against a lefty if Floyd isn't on the DL and replaced with Murton.

If his name didn't appear in moneyball, I doubt anybody would care to defend him. Just because he was in the A's front office doesn't make him smart or a good GM.

Jorge referring to Jorge Posada?? Cause I have a hard time not seeing him re-signed by the Yanks. Wow, I hadn't realized the OBPs Millar's been putting up. He wouldn't be bad as a right handed Daryle Ward, but it really limits the bench as long as you're going to keep 12 pitchers which it sounds like we'll get to eventually. You'd wind up with 1 guy as a backup CF and one guy as a backup SS/2B and that's about all you get.

Why would they regret that? He's done everything they've wanted from him, the stadium extortion attempt, the torching of the Expos franchise, the refusal to spend any money anywhere. He's the biggest prick in baseball, of course they love him. -

Again, who other than Reinsdorf is going to oppose it? Is it MLB owners or just NL ones? It's all MLB ones. The only three I can think of who wouldn't support his bid would be Angelos, Glass and Reinsdorf. It doesn't matter. They're all pawns of Selig. If Reinsdorf is voting it down, then everyone is voting it down cause Reinsdorf and Selig are one and the same. -

TRUE. People hate Duke, Florida State, the Yankees, etc. all because they were good. ARod is almost Tiger Woods good, therefore people hate him. I still am confused by the people who are angry at him over his contract. People hate FSU for the criminals littering their football roster.

What the hell are you gonna get for Bowen at the deadline? Catching tandem the rest of the year should be Soto/Bowen. And I'm not even that optimistic about Soto. Blanco and Hill are just that terrible. Assuming this is true, this is about 2 months earlier than I expected, I thought there was no way he got called up before 9/1.

Miguel Cabrera was switched off of SS because he was hitting for too much power, huh? Fascinating. I did not know that. Well in a roudnabout way, sort of but not really. He bulked up to add power and thus became immobile enough that he could no longer handle SS. And now he's eating his way out of 3rd, though fat doesn't quite work the same way when it comes to power.

Did anyone hear the radio interview with Marlins president David Sampson when he was asked about the deal? He at first said he couldn't believe it. And then said if it were true that baseball was about to return to the ridiculous contracts that got clubs in trouble. He had a hard time believing that the 20 million figure was accurate. David Samson only has his job cause he's Loria's stepson or ex-stepson or something. Beinfest is the brains there, Samson is just in it for the strippers. And he's like 5 foot 3. -
