  1. I hope it's Gorzelanny. He deserves it on his numbers, plus he's from my hometown, even if he went to the rival high school, F MARIST.
  2. Wow, had no idea how bad Bay has been this year.
  3. How the hell can you hate PNC?
  4. I wish search was working as I've been through this too many times... The runs per game was about the same before and after Lofton. the distribution of runs was about the same. The difference in 2003 was that Prior & Wood had absolutely unreal second halves to fuel the push. Didn't we play weaker competition after Lofton arrived as well?
  5. no kidding...he hasn't had ANY success to this point. You know Shawn Estes had isolated stretches of success for the Cubs in 2003. I'm not exactly on the hate Rich Hill bandwagon, I'm just saying. Rich Hill's stretches of success haven't been isolated. That's not even close to a valid comparison.
  6. There's some real hindsight going on with regards to bringing back Lofton in '04. Patterson's first half line before getting injured in '03 was .298/.329/.511 with excellent defense in CF. IIRC, Corey was having an above average year up until he tanked in September of '04 as well. Moving your young stud prospect to the bench for a full year after he put up that line would make no sense. EDIT: I should specify, it looks right in hindsight, I do remember people aroudn here clamoring for Lofton to be brought back in the '03-'04 offseason, though I believe it was usually as a 4th OF, which he certainly would not have gone for.
  7. The problem wit this lineup is it has Fontenot as SS, he is a second baseman and can't play short. No, the problem with the lineup is it has Griffey as a CF. He can't play CF.
  8. Girardi said no to the Nats too. I'm not sure Girardi has been interviewed by anyone and been turned down except for the Cubs of course. And Mark Grace is a horrendous announcer.
  9. With Jones/Izturis the deadline isn't really relevant, because nobody will be claiming them on waivers.
  10. Eddy Curry is a fat load.
  11. The way's being paved to demote Pie when Dempster comes back.
  12. Day after prom in the pouring rain against the Brewers. Raul Casanova hits a grand slam in the 7th to make it 9-1. 8th inning comes around and the bases are loaded up for Sexson. Our dates who got increasingly impatient due to the rain and cold asked if we could leave. I said if they hit another grand slam here we'd leave. Sexson crushes it and I walk out without saying a word.
  13. Wow. I did not know that. Well, I guess that's good news. Now they have to beat up on these weak teams. The bad news is the story's pretty much the same for the Brewers.
  14. I honestly think Williams doesn't want to give the NTC cause he wants to Bronson Arroyo Buehrle. Sign him for under market, then deal him off before next season begins for prospects.
  15. As you could guess, the guy who drafted Braun as his prospect is horrible at fantasy baseball. I argued exactly what you said GR, that his compensation was that he got free Ryan Braun for a month. If he had traded David Wright, I would be a lot more willing to give him some compensation, or force the trade to be reversed.
  16. We have a $70 million payroll. It's not great, but it's not awful either. Narron needed to be fired about a month ago. It's about time. He was by far the worst manaer in baseball. Buddy Bell, Grady Little, Clint Hurdle.
  17. Unlikely that anyone was offering him a 3B because he already has David Wright as well. My initial thought after reviewing his transactions were that he traded Ordonez because Braun could fill the UTIL spot, but that's unlikely as that trade happened just a few days after Braun was picked up, and it'd be pretty dumb to count on Braun to fill that spot the rest of the year based on such a small sample size. That and he already brought up that trade as a reason for why he should get compensation, but he phrased in the sense that he gave up Barton in it since he had settled on Braun and Billy Butler as his Corner IFs. I'm still failing to see how Braun affects Daric Barton in any way though.(We don't use Corner IF as a position)
  18. Marshall does not deserve it over Z.
  19. My league has a 5 round prospect draft after the major league drafting rounds. The prospects are the property of the team who drafts them, but not on their active rosters until the owner chooses to add them. We have a posting on the league site of each team's prospects. A month or so ago, a guy picked up Braun off FA. A few days back the commisioner realized he goofed on updating the prospect lists on the league site and that Braun was drafted in the prospect round, and never should've been able to be picked up as a FA. The owner who picked up Braun off FA argues that he deserves some form of compensation because he made corresponding moves/non-moves due to Braun's presence on his roster. Moves he's made since picking up Braun Traded Ordonez, Daric Barton, and Carlos Gonzalez for Homer Bailey and a 20th round pick. Added: Chad Billingsley Jeremy Accardo Carlos Gomez Dropped: Jason Varitek Joe Smith Joakim Soria Your thoughts?
  20. Nope, the Reds just wouldn't have a rep.
  21. So why doesn't Bonds deserve to start?
  22. It depends on how many position players/pitchers the team chose. They have a locked in # of pitchers/position players, so whatever's spare is what the 30th man is.
  23. Poor Gorzelanny, doesn't stand a chance.
  24. soriano made it Ah, I missed that, was pretty shocked thinking he wasn't in.
  25. Cherry needs to stretch out that lat. I'm sure he's never thought to stretch.
