  1. Admitting a mistake this quickly by making another trade for a catcher would be really out of character for Hendry. He's done it before. I thought he was being sarcastic, considering that's exactly how he ended up with Kendall in the first place. I don't think Hendry views trading Barret as a mistake. I was thinking of other times where Hendry has moved an at-the-time recent acquisition only weeks later, such as Matt Lawton and Jody Gerut. Or Rob Bowen. Jose Hernandez.
  2. Outs are precious. I hate the bunt from 2nd to 3rd. I much prefer the 1st to 2nd bunt.
  3. Would've liked to hear Marty Brennamen call it.
  4. Reds Bullpen vs. Brewers bullpen. Do not want.
  5. Wow, I really take for granted live online PBP.
  6. Yahoo called that Hopper double a Coutlangus single. I was mildly confused.
  7. That's crazy, I would've guessed that '04 team was about 15 games over at this point.
  8. good to see you still haven't said who you'd like playing most of the time in rightfield. And the SLG under 425...
  9. So about that SLG% below 425 thing...
  10. Refresh my memory on that. inexplicably traded away Brandon McCarthy to TEX this past year edited for grammar McCarthy's a righty and he got a promising young lefty in return in John Danks, who's doing just as well as McCarthy this year. Though, I must admit I thought it was a dumb trade at the time cause I thought Danks was a year away, and that this should've been the Sox's last run for contention for a few years. Guess I was off on both accounts.
  11. They're currently ranked in the upper half of per game attendance in the major leagues. Just thought I'd note that. If you were aware of that before your post, we define the word "pathetic" differently. I wouldn't doubt if those attendance #s are similar to the way we "drew" 3M+ last year. Sox could be in a bad way fanbase wise come '08 if they deal Konerko and don't make a splash this offseason. Of course, dumping Konerko is a nice way to gather some money to make that splash. And the Angels are idiots for trading for a 1B.
  12. That's what I'm thinking, and it's why I think Kendall resigning is a real possibility. You've been on this since the trade happened and I'm just not seeing it. Kendall would have to get hot, and I'm definitely not seeing that.
  13. He is buying into Son of God Floyd though.
  14. Phil Rizzuto and Lloyd Waner insist that 50 more guys get elected.
  15. Len said that if Kerry feels OK tomorrow, he will pitch back to back on Thursday and Friday. That's a pretty big step. Question: Are the Cubs going to keep moving Kerry up the minor league ladder or are they going to fast track him to the big club so they can take advantage of whatever bullets he has available in his arm? Hopefully the first option, and won't the Cubs have to make a 40 man roster move before they can activate him? I believe so, but there are numerous options. Release/trade Miller release Dope, and others also Miller's on the 60 day DL, so he won't help. The non-trade options are pretty much DFA Dope or DFA Coats.
  16. 140 AB's does not make a season, arguably. It was one time. You tell me if it was a fluke or not. And you're judging him based on 119 bad at-bats this season. You're being really, really oblivious (obtuse? are you calling me obtuse, Dufresne?). I'm basing my rational on his entire career, minors included, not just 2007. SS Ryan was, however, basing his on one season. I have no clue where you're getting this one season thing from. You claimed that Murton hasn't posted a 425 SLG% since A ball. I responded to inform you that he hasn't slugged below 425 since low A ball. This over seasons of 455, 487, and 455 ABs. I honest to God have no clue where your numbers are coming from. Ironically enough, you're arguing for me asking if the one time the numbers were different were a fluke. Well the one time the numbers were different was when he didn't slug at an okayish rate.
  17. Similiarity scores are pretty weak in general, but using a guy's career similarity scores are worthless when he's still active. Look towards his similar through age 24 if you want something of (nominal) value. The ones that list Kirk Gibson and Bobby Abreu. Also, Murton's had 1 season total where he hasn't slugged over 425. Back in '03. So I really don't know where you're coming from with that.
  18. My point is the group that voted in Maz doesn't even exist in the same way anymore. The vet committee has been overhauled because of stuff like Maz getting in.
  19. Exactly. These are the same people that will have a mental meltdown if we even TALK about trading some marginal prospect like Blevins. Luckily we have an example something like trading Blevins, when we traded...Blevins. Link to meltdowns plz. That's why I gave him as an example. Get it? Example? I'm not going to link you to a thread you can easily find yourself. But there's nothing to hide, go read it, there's *plenty* of people griping about losing our precious Blevins. There's *a few* people complaining about giving up anything with the least bit of value for someone as worthless as Kendall. There was nothing I'd consider close to a "meltdown" in that thread. I fail to see how Matt Murton's career 105 OPS+ doesn't represent an upgrade on the pathetic output we're currently getting from RF. Is it a guarantee Matt puts that up the rest of the season? Of course not, but it's also not a guarantee that Matt hits far worse like it seems many anti-Murtons are assuming. People who want Murton up shouldn't have to add a disclaimer with every post saying they are not opposed to a serious upgrade to RF in place of Murton, but when the alternatives are the present team, or talk of going out and getting Sosa or Bobby Kielty, why bother? Is it your opinion Murton can't be a solid option against lefties even?
  20. Exactly. These are the same people that will have a mental meltdown if we even TALK about trading some marginal prospect like Blevins. Luckily we have an example something like trading Blevins, when we traded...Blevins. Link to meltdowns plz.
