  1. Looking through BR, genuinely surprised Murton has a higher ISOP than Floyd.
  2. We've now come to the part of the game where Yost shreds Parra's arm. Again.
  3. The majority of people pining for Murton are merely pointing out that he's a better player than Cliff Floyd, which seems pretty obvious to me. Yet people have to phrase the argument as us saying Murton is an MVP. NOBODY IS SAYING THAT. We just want somebody who isn't an arthritic piece of crap v. 2.0 playing everyday.
  4. Gallardo's out, time to blow through the pen.
  5. dude, DePaul has the homliest co-eds on the planet. at least they did when I was there. rough It's still really rough. Now U of I..... =P~ That's the one thing I miss about U of I... Just one thing??
  6. They aren't a top 4 NL team by any stretch, but they could still very easily make the playoffs. Pythagoras says we are. Is there any evidence that pythagorean WL is a predictive stat? I'm not being argumentative here; I really want to know if there is any study that shows actual WL reverts to pyth WL instead of the other way around (or, possibly, no reversion in either direction). I've always looked at pyth record as nothing more than a summary of runs for/against, not a prediction of future winning pct - but maybe I'm wrong. The argument was whether we ARE a top 4 NL team. According to how the team has played with regards to scoring and allowing runs(the point of the game), we are the 2nd best team in the NL.
  7. Barry's been on base 550 more times in 1400 less PAs.
  8. http://www.freewebs.com/baseballhound/photos/aaron.jpg http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2005/writers/tom_verducci/01/18/steroids.amphetamines/p1_aaron.jpg Head growth.
  9. They aren't a top 4 NL team by any stretch, but they could still very easily make the playoffs. Pythagoras says we are. Only to people who don't understand them. Enlighten me please. The difference between the non-Mets contenders (under any measure) is not enough to say the Cubs aren't a top 4 team by any stretch.

  11. Adding Patterson, then optioning him after 2 days would show a real lack of any sort of plan, but it really wouldn't matter. If Eric isn't sticking in the bigs by '10, then he's not sticking.
  12. How come Alfonso Soriano can't get himself into shape to play 150 games. I mean the guy hurts himself just running the bases??
  13. Was there a reason to not count Prior as part of the team? Or were you able to see into the future that Prior would take a line drive off his pitching elbow causing him to miss all of 5-6 starts?
  14. But Jim Brower sucks. It's reasoning like that keeps the Lenny Harrises and Neifi Perezes of the world employed.
  15. Cause Buck Coats sucks. Pie is fine, they're stupid.
  16. Comparing players across generations is really really dumb.
  17. who's complaining about lilly and howry? Those guys over there. The one made of straw.
  18. It's not like banedon is one of the people that has stated beef with Meph. I couldn't think of another way to interpret what he said. Every pitcher everywhere ever is prone to a bad outing. If Zambrano got shelled would he respond with "unfortunately it's because he's Carlos Zambrano" And would there not be a strong response from people(myself included) about how they're sick of the harping on Zambrano's emotions being his downfall. Meph isn't one to beat around the bush, if he meant that he had a bad outing cause pitchers that aren't great have them he'd say it. I think it's pretty clear he doesn't think much of Marshall as a pitcher.
  19. Swiped from SOSH Explaining it further, in the organization does not require that a player be on the 40 man, just in the system. Regarding us, we have an abundance of pitchers on the DL, so any pitcher would be free to make a potential playoff roster. There is not a lot of flexibility with the position players, as our only real hope is Blanco being done for the year, which would allow Soto to make the team. The best thing Buck Coats could do for the organization would be to go down with a season ending injury allowing the team to argue a replacement at virtually any position.
  20. I'm fine now with him facing lefties in big situations. I still don't want him facing a righty with the game on the line.
  21. Yeah we need Borowski and his horrendous numbers this year. We also need Marmol to pitch the 9th innings of games we lead by 3 or less. That way we could've lost today in the 6th or 7th rather than the 9th.
  22. Pie is not a prototypical leadoff guy, Hill is the 3rd best starter on the team, and Angel Pagan isn't worthless.(.275/.320/.457, PECOTA of 278/.342/.426, nothing crazy on BABIP, decent fielder, decent baserunner)
  23. Contreras has at least 2 years left in his contract doesn't he? He's 50 years old and sucks. I'd rather sign Jose Lima.
