  1. ComEd is reporting parents' basement electricity usage to be at it's highest point since Halo 2 came out. HANK WHITE ROFL!!!!!!!! LAME.
  2. They will be eligible for the playoff roster if acquired before August 31st And we have a bajillion guys on the 60 day DL, so there are plenty of spots for a guy not on the 25 man to take over. It's only players not on the 40 man by 9/1 that are ineligible.
  3. Wonder if anybody good is going to be traded this deadline.
  4. My friend's cousin has been hooking up with him for most of his stay in Chicago. Told her he was gonna leave his wife and kids for her. He got his escape nice and easy.
  5. So you're basing your throwing decision on the worst case scenario, that being a terrible throw that the 2nd cut can't even knock down. Makes sense to do that for little league and even some high schoolers(though by the time I learned double cut we were using it in the way I presented), but for a major leaguer that's wasteful to throw to the short guy just because you might make a bad throw and now you can save a runner from moving up one base max.
  6. Pretty much all of us played a lot of baseball. Many have coached. The double cut in my time has always been should the weaker armed OF not be able to hit the 2nd one. If he can he throws it past and hits the 2nd. If the OF can deliver the throw closer to the plate on a solid throw, why wouldn't you?
  7. TOP OF THE NINTH INNING Dempster in to pitch for the CUBS Dobbs popped out (foul) to shortstop Iguchi walked Iguchi stole second base Rollins singled to right field , Iguchi to third Iguchi thrown out trying to score on a wild pitch, 2-1, Rollins to second Howard struck out swinging 0 runs 1 hits 0 errors 1 men left on base That was the other play that was mentioned a while ago. Murton threw straight through to the plate on that one since it was just a single. He shoudl've thrown it to the guy that was the closest to him rather than overthrowing to the catcher who was backing up the play.
  8. You can't be serious. This argument is absurd. Do you think that "loser" Sammy Sosa in his prime (1998-2002) would not help this team? If you don't, I'm not sure what to say. How many teams did he help in that period? How many times was LOSER Sammy in the playoffs? The LOSERS on this team with more playoff appearances than Sosa are Marquis, DeRosa, and Soriano. We should trade everyone else.
  9. I think I read somewhere that Gagne would invoke his NTC for a deal to Boston.
  10. I see what you're saying, and I do somewhat agree with you, but Murton and Kendall are really different stories. I don't think you can compare the outlier seasons of a 10+ year veteran who has hit for a .298 career avg with a young player who played well in the minors, for a year in the majors, and has struggled this year. But said 10 year veteran is a catcher on the wrong side of 30 who has been in decline for the past 3 years. Said young players are players in the prime of their careers who had trended upward in the years previous.
  11. Yep, all downhill after the corked bat. Certainly nothing good happened to Sosa and the Cubs after June 3rd, 2003.
  12. 6 OFs is a bit much, isn't it? Well dumping Jones wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but I still don't think it's possible without eating a lot of the contract. I expect Floyd to head to the DL for at least a 15 day trip before the year's over. Since it doesn't seem like they're gonna play Cedeno anyways, might as well go with Theriot/Fontenot as the only backup IF.
  13. I'm only reading Highlights to prepare my copyright infringement case against Goofus and Gallant. too obscure?
  14. Stupid Loser Sosa playing at a HOF level for us. LOSER.
  15. A rotating platoon of Church/Floyd/Jones/Pagan/Murton would be dreamy. Once again people are bizarrely only considering this season's #s as they did with Murton, and these are the same people arguing that Kendall isn't as bad as he is casue it's just one season. Church OPSd nearly 900 in probably the worst hitters park in baseball last year. He's had his playing time limited by an old coot of a manager and still managed OPS+ of 120 and 128. The question is what isn't to like about Ryan Church?
  16. I don't think that's true. The 2nd guy serves two purposes: backup the first cut off guy on a bad throw to him, and give the OF another target if he can make a good throw to 2nd guy. It makes no sense to make the shorter throw from the OF if you can make the longer one. It's not "overthrowing" the first guy - it's throwing it to the 2nd one. This. If you can make the throw to the 2nd guy, you make it, I'm really failing to see the rationale behind hitting the 2nd cutoff man as a bad thing.
  17. We would get a shot at him first, no? Goes from worst to first in AL, then worst to first in NL. So, no. I thought they got rid of the league specific rule, and it goes strictly by record. I could be wrong. That's for the first-year player draft, no? Well I know for a fact they did that, but I thought the change was made regarding waivers as well.

  19. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Oh so you'd rather listen to Boers (or bernstein whoever he is I don't care), who I can guarantee he tells his phone people to purposely only let in the people with the stupidest questions on the air so he can criticize people on the air and be a "big tough guy" on the air, huh? Whatever floats your boat. Boers doesn't have to tell his producer that. 99% of people that call sports radio are idiots.
  20. I'd rather listen to smart people intelligently criticize (and praise, when it's due) the Cubs than listen to some babbling idiot on the radio. Murphy is a tard. Who on the score gives you that? Generally speaking, I find Bernstein to be a pretty smart dude. And if you don't, he'll let you know. I do like him though.
  21. I've got a bunch on my computer at home. I'll get em up somewhere if nobody else steps up.
  22. So basically what I thought. The difference in games against teams over 500 are games against Cubs/Brewers. I don't think the Cards are better than us or the Brewers, but considering the only difference in schedules are games against their direct competition, the schedules shouldn't be the reason to discount them. No pitching whatsoever, that's a reason.
  23. IIRC, the Cards have a much more difficult schedule the rest of the way than the Cubs and Brewers. Though I don't know how much of that has to do with them playing the Cubs and Brewers so much while we're playing them.
