  1. I would guess Hanley Ramirez and Soriano will be on the 30th man vote.
  2. Isn't Posada a horrible defensive catcher?
  3. You were pretty abrasive before, but you were providing really good baseball content, now you're just trolling.
  4. Sure the Bulls may want him back, but like you mentioned, why would New York want to get rid of him? His contract is nice and there are not many athletic centers around. Athletic center = Curry?? Under what definition are we operating here? If they get Curry back to go with Noah, I'll have to go back to hating the Bulls again.
  5. It's because of Eyre, not because of Izturis or Jones. We're working with essentially a 10 man staff because Lou doesn't trust Eyre with anything.(Nor should he.) Izturis and Jones, yeah they've been pretty worthless the past month or so, but we'd be fine with an 11 man staff if all of them were usable.
  6. I inexplicably have a good feeling about Marquis tomorrow.
  7. Fontenot fields that 99 out of 100 times. It was a routine grounder.
  8. I get up, and nothing gets me down. You got it tough. Ive seen the toughest around. And I know, baby, just how you feel. Youve got to roll with the punches to get to whats real Oh cant you see me standing here, Ive got my back against the record machine I aint the worst that youve seen. Oh cant you see what I mean ? Might as well jump. jump ! Might as well jump. Go ahead, jump. jump ! Go ahead, jump. Aaa-ohh hey you ! how said that ? Baby how you been ? You say you dont know, you wont know Until we begin. Well cant you see me standing here, Ive got my back against the record machine I aint the worst that youve seen. Oh cant you see what I mean ? Might as well jump. jump ! Go ahead, jump. Might as well jump. jump ! Go ahead, jump. Might as well jump. jump ! Go ahead, jump. Get it and jump. jump ! Go ahead, jump.
  9. They've probably burned up the options of most of the people though. Sending Petrick down and calling Cherry up for example does nothing in the options situation, and I don't see too many other candidates who haven't been up to the majors already this year who will likely be called up. They've used an option on Cherry, Cotts, Petrick, Rapada, and Gallagher-my guess is that they will just try to stick to the first 4 of that group most of that time, so options aren't really as much of a concern anymore. I agree that I'm not concerned with burning an option year on these guys, but Petrick does burn an option by going down, because he was just added to the 40 man, though the odds of that really mattering are pretty slim.
  10. It's adding salary in the sense that they'd be paying both him and his roster replacement. They'd be paying two players for one roster position. And the replacement would be leage minimum which is what the Marlins were picking up.
  11. Doesn't sound like we'll be adding any more payroll like Hendry told us earlier in the season. They can add payroll for this year, they just can't make commitments for next year if they feel it will effect the sale price. Paying all of Jones' salary this year is allowed. Paying it for next year is problematic. Why would that be problematic? We're not adding salary to next year by trding him and paying his salary. We're paying his salary either way.
  12. Wait, what team do you cheer for again? :-s That's what's so amazing about the Pirates/Royals. They've been so awful the past decade and a half that their spectacular failure completely trumps our awful team's failures. We're failures for sure, but there always seems to be some other failure out there worse than ours whenever we go in the crapper. The problem is, whenever we've been in the crapper the past 15 yeras it's always the Pirates/Royals that have been down there to save us from being completely pathetic.
  13. I really have gained a lot of respect for Jacque for the way he's handled himself through all this. People tried to demonize him almost immediately by misrepresenting quotes about his situation, but Jacque has been nothing but a team player through all of this. It sucks for him, but honestly, with no clubhouse problems coming up because of it, and no real alternative better than him, there's no reason to force him off the team for nothing while paying his whole salary. I don't know how long it will take to wait out until somebody starts looking for a bat that may help them down the stretch, but paying Jacque all but the league minimum to play for somebody else is just foolish.
  14. Fixed. Look, I really like The Riot. I wish he were the fantastic, .400-OBP type guy you seem to think he is. He's one of the guys I like most on this team, and that's not something I say much about a person having a season as bad as he is. But he really is not that great. He shouldn't be playing everyday and he definitely shouldn't be leading off. So he slumped, everyone does. The last two starts he did well and the one before that he pulled off a difficult squeeze to give the Cubs the win. End argument. End argument isn't going to help your argument at all. Especially if you're referencing a 3 game stretch. Jose Macias had a 3 game stretch where he went something like 11-15 a few years back. 3 game stretches tell you nothing. I like Theriot, and he's a perfect utility guy, spot starter, but it's looking more and more like he's not an everyday guy.
  15. Is Thome not 1B eligible? Delgado is worthless.
  16. This is starting to become a pet peeve of mine. By all means rip Marlins "fans" to shreds for not supporting a team that's winning a world series, rip Braves fans to shreds for not selling out playoff games, but really, what the hell do you want out of Pirates and Royals supporters? Continue giving the worst owners in baseball their money despite not even putting up an attempt to go .500? It sucks for Pirates and Royals fans, they've shown in the past to be great fans, but you can only be dumped on so many times before you say enough.
  17. Soriano and Fontenot got hot because Barrett's gone.
  18. Who stole Meph?
  19. What about CERA?
