  1. That grounder would not have scored Soriano for the record. The thing that annoys me the most about this insistence on giving away outs to get one run is that it's always assumed by the supporters of it that these outs will be executed perfectly. "Everyone should be able to get a damn bunt down though!!!" Why?? Why baseball scout, should everybody be able to get the bunt down? Why should everyone be able to hit a fly ball 275 feet whenever he wants. Hitting a baseball is a very difficult thing to do, bunting one not straight back to the pitcher or in front of the catcher may be even more difficult. Playing for 1 run will often get you 0 runs, and it will never get you more than 1 unless you've got a team willing to throw the ball into the stands a couple times for you.
  2. If you play for 1 run, you'll get a maximum of 1 run. If you play for 1 run, in Texas, with Marquis on the mound, you'll lose.
  3. YOU DON'T HAVE TO MOVE THE RUNNER UP!!! He's in SCORING!!!!!! POSITION
  4. Who cares about the sox. This Royal fan (my 2nd favorate team) does. Seeing the Sox lose and hopefully that KC win tonight aganist St. Louis would mean that the KC is threatening to get out of the cellar in the AL Central, and the Sox in dead last. So when do we see White Sox bandwagoners become Cubs fans again? We'll have to be remotely good for that to happen.
  5. It looked like a single up until the point you see Kenny Lofton's left arm enter the picture, then it's a borderline triple.
  6. Selig participates in this type of stuff with the way he acts regarding steroids. I'm sure he doesn't mind.
  7. I seem to remember one that was set to Green Day's "Good Riddance" that teared me up. Was that '98 or '99? That song came out around then. I can't imagine anyone caring enough to set the '99 season to song.
  8. This Sosa montage is giving me chills. Wish they showed the game 1 HR.
  9. Everyone liked him but something had to give. Seriously I hate pretty much every sportswriter. Arrogant, clueless jackasses.
  10. Of course you're surprised Sullivan, cause you're a dope and have no clue what's going on with the team you [expletive] cover. Ass.
  11. i'm in a good mood, so i won't bust out the eye roll I'll do it for you. Ok you convinced me - he has looked outstanding both behind the plate and on the basepaths Do you consider Manny Ramirez a bad baseball player? In true Joe Morgan fashion I will tell you no I don't but I don't watch Manny every day either. Having said that Manny OPS+ 129; Barret OPS+ 80 - I believe that gives Manny just a little more room to make gaffes in the field and on the basepaths. Not to mention Manny is a LF while Barrett is a catcher Um, that hurts your argument. Manny makes boneheaded plays and costs lots of runs in one of the easiest defensive positions. My point is the reasoning for calling Barrett a bad baseball player(always you said, even when he was putting up great OPS+s) was bad baserunning and bad defense, which Manny certainly trumps him in.
  12. The Yankees/Red Sox are in the same division and play each other a lot. It makes sense. Mets fans I think care a lot more about the Braves than the Yankees, but I'm not around it, so I could easily be wrong.
  13. I sometimes sit back and smile when reading long threads on this board when somebody comes in out of nowhere and thinks they burnt the previous 50 pages. And then they're proven wrong by like 5 consecutive people. All prospects are not created equally. A young prospect with a good track record up through AAA != a young prospect with a horrible statistical record at Low A != a young prospect with great numbers at A

  15. I care cause the game is on the TV at my office. And I've got 50 bucks on them being no more than 5 games better than the Cubs. And all my friends are Sox fans. Sabean seems to be good at recognizing veteran players who still have it.(or else he's really lucky with them) But he's just so one tracked that he's had no plan for the future cause he's obsessed with having a veteran team to take advantage of the Bonds window. The problem is young guys can do that too. Once Bonds is gone, Sabes will be gone shortly thereafter thanks to his Cub-like history of developing hitters.
  16. Details. That's a game I actually care about. They didn't do anything specifically bad, they're just a tremendously bad baseball team if Barry Bonds isn't hitting HRs, which he hasn't been doing for the last month or so.
  17. In other news, the Giants are one of the worst teams in baseball.
  18. I actually care now, cause Gregg's on my fantasy team.
  19. Hendry loves picking up these high draft pick flame outs. None of them ever seem to work though.
  20. For an office full of west and north siders there are a lot of Sox fans here. And man do they get testy when they're losing.
  21. Time to see if the Sox have perfected our skills and manage to not tie things here.
  22. What the hell is Klesko bunting for??
  23. Over/under on Jenks's Tommy John surgery?
  24. Uribe had his foot anchored to the bag, he's gotta have his right foot ready to go there with the pitcher's momentum going towards the right side of the infield. That and he still could've caught the ball anyways. The White Sox are out-pathetic-ing even our most pathetic showings this year.
