    dusty seems like such a great idea until you actually watch him in action. The funny thing is, he could easily win a World Series with that team, considering the talent makes it a near lock to win 95 games in the regular season. Plus, all their best players are incumbent veterans, and in the AL, he might be convinced not to sac bunt and play small ball nearly as much. Dusty isnt' going to be able to turn them into free swinging hacks. He won't be able to double switch his best hitters out of the lineup. He'll get hammered by his bullpen usage, but if Cashman went out and got him some stable starters, he'd probably ride them all the way to Mo. He'd also have Chamberlain and Kennedy on the DL by the all star break.

    Did you consult Dr. Evil when drafting this seriously over-complicated scenario? How about you simply sign A-Rod be done? Ahh, yes. If only "simply signing ARod" would magically create a leadoff hitter for the club, I would be all for it. Mark DeRosa

    While that's good, I'd just prefere Stone not be involved in team decision making processes in any way at all. Exactly. That article doesn't make me feel any better. Color man replacing Bob if he gets a new managing gig would be the only way I'd want Stoney back, and even that's a stretch. Even then I'd prefer Bob stay. Agreed, Bob's great.

    As poor of a defensive outfield consisting of Soriano and Dunn would be, I would die if we could get him. Soriano's a good defensive OF. Despite his apparent inability to track a ball at the wall.

    What if it were to NY? ARam for Cano? Would that be palatable for all parties? Why so intent on trading Aram? Cano is cheap and at a more valuable defensive position. Trading Aramis isn't going to happen.

    I wouldn't go to the extremes Jeff does, but he should be competing for the 25th man and nothing else.

    And to this day, there is incompetence all over the league. We see it in our very own favorite organization. It was stupid for Texas to spend all that money on ARod. I won't argue with you there. They didn't have the components to compete. There aren't many teams that are in a position to: 1. Afford to pay ARod what he's worth. 2. Have the components to surround him with talent for the next several years. 3. The desire to spend that kind of money on a single ballplayer. No, there aren't many. But there are some. I think Anaheim would, could and should do it. I think both LA and SD could do it, but I'm not sure the Dodgers want to and I'm almost certain SD doesn't want to. As for Texas, the $26 million they spent on Chan Ho and Juan Gone were far more damaging to their ability to field a quality team than the $22 they spent on ARod. Don't forget Darren Dreifort! Dreifort was the Dodgers. Saving the Cubs in the process.

    Pitchers tend to recover better when having TJ than they do with shoulder surgery. The shoulder is one thing you do not want to mess with if you are making a living throwing a baseball. Shoulder scopes actually have a better success rate than TJS For us laymen, what is the difference between a shoulder scope and fixing a tear in the rotator cuff? I would be interested to know how bad Prior wants to stay with the Cubs. Presumably he would not have the same type of loyalty that Wood has, but I wonder if he would take a 2 year contract similar to the one Dempster took, in order to stay. I don't think Prior feels any loyalty to the Cubs, and I don't blame him for it with the way he's been treated by the media, fans and organization.

    Why does it matter if he's fast. Either he has a long swing for anyone, or he doesn't. Speed has nothing to do with it. Not every guy who's fast has to play like Juan Pierre. Imagine if someone made Rickey pound everything to the ground and bunt every other AB.

    I think what's helping me keep the faith is his speculation after he mentions them picking up the option, saying that the Cubs may not want him back as 5th starter, meaning he in the very least doesn't know the whole story. Grasping at straws probably.

    After reading the actual article, I feel a little bit more like it may be untrue. Looks like it's possible that it's what Rosenthal think the Cubs should do. Rosenthal's the best when it comes to breaking stories, but he's still a national media presence, so he's still an idiot when it comes to knowing what makes a good player.

    I have it on good authority that Western Kentucky will probably win this game because Ball State's QB is going to be way too stoned to play. I hope this is a joke post, our QB is basically all we've got at this point! It is not. The getting high all the time thing isn't new, so he'll probably be as effective as ever. How the heck did you hear this? I'm Ball State student sports media and I couldn't have even guessed. College athletes get high?

    Add Zito and they could easily have one of the top rotations in the game. Pitching is very important. Add Arod, and they aren't as far as people think. They don't have much else offensively, but they will probably have the most money to spend. We will see if Arod runs for the money again, like he did when he went to Texas. You want me to add him again? I have him as part of the front 3. Don't forget Noah Lowry. Or Barry Zito.
