  1. any strikeout with first base occupied is a strikeout and you can not reach first i believe, if you could, it would punish the team for having someone first, as the catcher could just let one go and force you into a double play.. IIRC Announcers on TBS just clarified that the catcher does indeed have to throw to first in the situation with two outs. I guess the rationale is that the double play is not in order. so.... is the situation that the guy on first can advance if he chooses too, as well as the guy at the plate and either can be thrown out for choosing to run (obviously the guy at the plate is out if he chooses not to, as he struck out)? The guy at first is going to be out if he doesn't run to 1st, and the inning is going to be over, so of course he runs. If he runs to 1st then of course the guy from 1st is going to run because the batter can't be safe at first until the runner leaves 1st. That's all with 2 outs. As mentioned earlier the batter is out with less than 2 outs, cause it's a cinch DP otherwise.
  2. Did the Reds get contracted?
  3. That reminds me. I forget which inning it was that Lee was on first and A-Ram struck out but the ball got away and Lee went to 2nd. A-Ram started to run to first but it looked like he was told by the home plate ump he was out. Why couldn't he advance on a dropped 3rd strike? Lee was on first. I think you can only take first if there was no runner on first when strike 3 was called. Right, if the guy who strikes out is entitled to 1st while it's occupied, that forces the guy on 1st to go to 2nd. From that you'd have catchers dropping every 3rd strike with a guy on first, and getting the 1-6-3 DP from it. You can advance to 1st on a dropped 3rd with 2 outs because there's no DP in order.
  4. in fairness, it wasn't just a red light. he picked nevin out as one guy most likely to suffer a major injury and miss most or all of the season, and nevin was hurt a few days later. He separated his shoulder diving for a ball in the OF, unless Carroll had some sort of info leading him to think Nevin had a shoulder that couldn't handle diving on it, I'm not buying it. Nevermind the fact that he's crowing about something he predicted 4 years ago as evidence of don't you dare question the almighty Will
  5. Soriano's a horrible contact hitter.
  6. Following him taking shots at the Sox he closed with Phil Nevin says hi! I'm not sure if it was an actual article or a blog entry or what. I had no clue what he was talking about. Someone at BTF pointed out that in his injury reports a few years back during spring training he gave Nevin a red light(high risk of injury). Nevin went on to get injured like a week later. Will Carroll is gloating about predicting that somebody has a high risk of getting injured 4 years ago.
  7. I'm with you if just because I think Owings is their 2nd best chance to win. If the D-Backs are down 2-1, you're going to use Webb at some point. You can bring him back on 3 days rest where he'll in all likelihood pitch worse than he would on full rest, or you can give him full rest and go with a similar pitcher in game 4(Owings) that you would have in Davis. Now if the D-Backs had Livan slated for game 4, I could understand cause Livan is the D-Backs' Marquis.
  8. Will Carroll humble?? The best part about Carroll's gloating is that he pretty much has nothing to do with PECOTA. And the "I predicted Phil Nevin too bitches!" at the end was ludicrous. Acting like a petulant child.
  9. Short Rest Z a 67% chance against Owings seems high.
  10. We have the matchup advantage in 2 and 3, 4's a toss up, 5's theirs. Advantage D-Backs
  11. My sister called me from work about 15 minutes ago, I hope that was her telling me she got tickets, and not her reminding me about the tickets going on sale. This was a lot easier in college.
  12. I'm not sure he has before this season. He doesn't know anything, and not just in the way that all announcers are idiots, he's dumb compared to his peers.
  13. On a scale of 1-10 you made Bill Simmons look like an amateur.
  14. Ted Robinson's eyes will eat your soul.
  15. So LaRussa's gotta be gone too right? Any reason on why? Is it because LaRussa was leaving? Dissatisfaction with payroll? Just his time to move on after 13 years?
  16. It's weird how they've only held one postseason since '02.
  17. I know in case of overlaps the start of the new game starts on TNT then shifts to TBS when the old game ends. Not sure if it's different locally.
  18. I'd rather watch the Phils lead every game of the series then blow it in the 9th. Brett Myers, now there's a prick.
  19. There's playoff baseball on all day and you're complaining. Some of us can't watch it all day.(40 minute commute only, Flat Screen in the office FTW again!)
  20. Is there clarification on when people are meeting up? Saturday or Sunday? Or both?
  21. Next time you tell that story, say that you were involved.
  22. Replace Monroe with Fontenot jjg.
