  1. Primetime has it right, you guys don't know anything about White Sox bitterness and irrational hatred until you live on the south side. Marquee on a bar I drove by on the way home last night had the Cubs elimination # up on it. They had the bartenders wear Marlins jerseys in '03. They're pathetic children.
  2. Yeah I was gonna ask the same thing about DT2.
  3. Now this won't be as fun if they actually win :( (I took them) (I don't know why)
  4. I'm not sure you know what karma means.
  5. i was telling my buddy last night that someone should just call up ned yost and tell him there has been a mistake...the cubs really didn't win the division...no one knows why there are playing in the playoffs...get your team together and take over your rightful place... Yost would immediately get a reliever up, just from instinct. And it would be Chris Spurling.
  6. he did DFA Rusch after he nearly died Heartless.
  7. It's going to be 2 clueless sides pulling on a loose knot with regards to Prior. One side not understanding sunk costs, the other side thinking we succeeded because there was no Mark Prior distraction. Hopefully they tighten the knot rather than rip the rope in half. You don't throw away a post-surgery Mark Prior.
  8. Buckner came back to play and retire with Boston in 1990. He was cheered despite being terrible.
  9. Dick Stockton is still trying to figure out who that guy is standing next to him providing color during the games. "He doesn't look like Bob Brenly, they told me it would be Bob Brenly!"
  10. Ed Creech is the Dave Littlefield of scouting directors. Huntington could be a bad GM, and he could bring in Ed Lynch as scouting director, and it'd probably be an improvement.
  11. NLCS ratings will probably be record lows regardless of who's playing because it's on cable.
  12. You lost him there, when's the last time a national sportswriter did 10 minutes of research? That doesn't sell newspapers and get clicks to a website!
  13. Dave any hints on where the Brew payroll would be next year?
  14. Alright, I'm in. I could use somebody's cell so I could find you guys. I have Mark's, so if he's gonna be there that'll be fine.
  15. 3 of the 4 did it by coming back home for games 3 and 4. Though in '95, Seattle had game 5 at home too, so not sure how to count them.
  16. That Suppan contract is probably going to kill them because of this. In a vaccuum that's a nice contract, on a poor defensive team, it's trouble. The bad news is that Gallardo, Parra, and Villanueva all have nice K rates. Though Parra can't stop getting injured.
  17. I was a big fan of Tracy in his early years in LA. He lost me a long time ago.
  18. I'm really bored at work, so I'm gonna try and break it down by teams losing the first 2 on the road compared to at home.
  19. Oh God, here we go... Yes, "here we go" - anytime OMC has the gall to mention (or implie - something he barely did in this case) he played competitive sports someone engages in a personal attack against him. That's probably what Ziggy was referring to, but I'm personally annoyed whenever somebody has a differing opinion and resorts to lines like "Have you ever played before?" "Do you watch the games?" Belittling crap like that gets you nowhere in a conversation, and is Joe Morganesque reasoning. And as my previous post shows, I'm on OMC's side with regards to Lilly.
  20. Didn't read through the whole thread, so I apologize if I'm repeating other people, but I just don't understand the indignation at Lilly spiking his glove. I've seen it here, I heard it last night, and I'm hearing a ton of it here at work. Would everyone be so disapproving if Lilly just screamed F---!! like most pitchers would in that situation? Honestly what's the difference? Pitcher gives up HR, pitcher is pissed, pitcher releases anger.
  21. The problem for Milwaukee is going to remain defense unless their young guys take a leap defensively.(Very possible for young guys to improve in this manor.) It's a problem because of the offense the 4 infielders bring, you really can't replace him with a defensive guy, but having 4 negatives on your infield is just hell on your pitchers.
  22. INI Seriously, we're favored against the #5 team in the country. Madness.
  23. any strikeout with first base occupied is a strikeout and you can not reach first i believe, if you could, it would punish the team for having someone first, as the catcher could just let one go and force you into a double play.. IIRC Announcers on TBS just clarified that the catcher does indeed have to throw to first in the situation with two outs. I guess the rationale is that the double play is not in order. so.... is the situation that the guy on first can advance if he chooses too, as well as the guy at the plate and either can be thrown out for choosing to run (obviously the guy at the plate is out if he chooses not to, as he struck out)? The guy at first is going to be out if he doesn't run to 1st, and the inning is going to be over, so of course he runs. If he runs to 1st then of course the guy from 1st is going to run because the batter can't be safe at first until the runner leaves 1st. That's all with 2 outs. As mentioned earlier the batter is out with less than 2 outs, cause it's a cinch DP otherwise.
