  1. it comes from "f.'.n" Without the periods obviously. It changes it to "I dropped the Soap!" Instead of looking like a tool every time I got angry, I started saying soap dropping as a replacement. Different forms showed up depending on what form of the F word was necessary.
  2. That's enough of that crap. Weeks is fast turning into a pest.
  3. Jones bonehead throw probably helps cause ya know Cabrera would crush Trachsel.
  4. That catch was theriffying. I get the feeling Trachsel's the type of guy that would blow off Soto every time he comes out there cause he's not a fossil like Steve is.
  5. We should definitely pull for the 5 way tie as it would leave us very well rested while whoever emerges from it would be gassed.
  6. My fear? They've decided Murton is the odd man out for the playoff roster so they're using their playoff lineup v. LHP. If Murton is left off the playoff roster in favor of Monroe, Jim Hendry should be beaten. We've been through this. There's not a lot of rationale for fearing Murton being off the playoff roster shy of Cedeno and Fontenot both going along with a 12 man pitching staff. Murton's not being buried, he just pinch hit for Jacque in a crucial moment the other night.
  7. i sure hope not... if you're getting outcoached by ron zook, you really suck This. JoePa certainly won't get outcoached, PSU could easily be outplayed. Amazing how far we've come, only 3 point dogs against Penn St. oh, he can be outcoached, at least from a gameplanning perspective. Paterno doesn't call many plays on game day (that's all done by the OC in the booth) but he can definitely steer the team in the wrong direction when devising a scheme for this game. Michigan has a weak secondary, and yet Paterno thought his team threw too much. this is what we deal with here. If your team is QBd by Anthony Morelli, odds are you're throwing too much.
  8. Yay Lou! Now play him against righties after this.
  9. Is this the annual Pirates give away a good player for junk thread?
  10. Well upon double checking the #s I see I'm probably wrong. He's thrown out 5 guys with the Cubs. (Seriously? When?) I know earlier I had heard the onyl guy he "caught stealing" was a guy trying to score on a wild pitch. But the problem is Soto is better offensively than Kendall, even with steep regression, and he's light years better defensively. If you're better at both aspects of the game in addition to being a good "leader"(however you judge that, Soto seemed to fit the bill in his starts), then why wouldn't you start? Cause you weren't born in the 70s? It's ridiculous. And like most arguing against this, I like Lou, and really have been pleased with the managing job he's done, but as stated previously, this is Dustyness at its finest. If he never gave Soto the chance to start, and just stuck with the vet all Setpember it would almost make more sense. This makes no sense whatsoever, you give the young guy the chance, he proves he can handle it, performs exceptionally well, and then benched for the guy who's sucked out loud the past month. Mind blowing.
  11. Well he hasn't thrown out a single guy on a straight steal since coming to the Cubs.
  12. If you had to live with that thing you'd be the same way. I thought I'd heard Froemming in talking about the game saying something along the lines of how many people remember the ump from a perfect game compared to me? Just a real douchebag thing to say even if he was umping it honestly. But seriously Milt, let it go, you sounded really bitter in the booth earlier this year.
  13. I read a story about that with him saying he was out on Waveland during the 2003 NLCS. After that he said something along the lines of "I guess they really never will win anything" Something about a curse too I think. He sucks. And he's a jerk.
  14. i sure hope not... if you're getting outcoached by ron zook, you really suck This. JoePa certainly won't get outcoached, PSU could easily be outplayed. Amazing how far we've come, only 3 point dogs against Penn St.
  15. This is straight up insanity.
  16. moorecg is right. Play-in games don't count towards the standings. So the losers of the NL West play ins and the NL East play in would then play each other for the wild card.
  17. Drinks on me, but I heard you were paying for the hookers. (and no tranny hookers, plz!) Plane tickets have been purchased, and I will be in chicago that weekend, regardles of wheteher or not the cobs pull off the choke job. you will most certainly see me at my finest/worst, depending on perspecitve. We are going to have to pull together a massive NSBB meet up Vance is buying drinks Mark is buying hookers I'll throw in the heroin (if the Cubs didn't make the playoffs / lose in the playoffs) We can all sleep on Seth's floor. I thought Yeti was bringing the heroin. I don't see the need to limit the quantity of heroin.
  18. BALLLLLLLLGAMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
  19. Argh in play run(s) is always ugly for the Brew
