  1. Veterans Committee. Well, at least Purdue only loses Calasan and Green after this season. Scott Martin would be a big help right about now.
  2. Hummel has a small fracture in his back. Up in the air from game to game whether he'll play.
  3. I'd love some sort of rational explanation behind Mississippi St. pulling the #24 class in the country.
  4. Big 10 Top 6 vs. each other (OSU cracks the upper echelon, just 1.5 back of MSU) MSU: 5-1(2-1 home, 3-0 road) 2 home, 2 away remaining Purdue: 1-3(0-1 home, 1-2 road) 3 home, 2 away remaining Illinois: 2-2(1-0 home, 1-2 road) 4 home, 2 away remaining Minnesota: 3-2(3-2 home, 0-0 road) 0 home, 4 away remaining PSU: 2-2(1-1 home, 1-1 road) 2 home, 3 away remaining OSU: 1-4(1-1 home, 0-3 road) 3 home, 1 away remaining) Basically, the only thing to take out of this is Minnesota is overrated and OSU is probably underrated. MSU and Illinois have the toughest schedules(for the season) of the 6 playing each of the others twice.
  5. Go Hawkeyes *shudder*
  6. One of my most hated crazy old man rants from Lou. Everyone knew he was struggling, nobody was saying, hey Lou why don't you play Kosuke more, but there he goes running him out to RF in game 1 despite rarely starting him down the stretch. What the hell did he expect.
  7. Is "rest of team" a euphemism for Jamal Crawford?
  8. Iowa can not win the tournament, and Wisconsin and Northwestern are only winning if some other teams make their road easier.
  9. Quote from thread: I was also into Westbrook a bit. He just got hurt. I also liked Cliff Lee. You also loved Khalil Greene. And JR Towles
  10. I keep telling you people, it's Daniel Moore.
  11. Mine keeps more players than I've ever heard elsewhere. We get 12 keepers. We also do a 5 round prospect draft every year. If one of your prospects loses rookie eligibility you can keep him as your 25th round pick the following season.(and on up for multiple graduated prospects. 25 man rosters, 10 man max on prospect rosters with them only being acquired through the draft. Once you promote a prospect who exceeds rookie eligibilty you can't send him back to your prospect team. We're dorks.
  12. Haha, Aaron Miles + Paul Bako over Ty Wigginton + Koyie Hill. And before you say it, Miles isn't a SS either.
  13. It was defensible at face value. If the Cubs knew they were gonna give up on either of them if they sucked for 3 weeks then they're idiots for not trading them. Holding onto Hill is more defensible than Pie...at least Hill did some things at the major league level. Pie, not so much. Pie to this day hasn't had a chance at the major league level, let alone before this season.
  14. I'm not sure I agree with any of that besides 3B.
  15. How can you keep players on your next year roster though? Do you just make a vow to not draft each others keepers? We run a live draft and undoubdtedly there's always a few people who miss it and run off pre-drafts and have no control over their picks at some point Yeah we run ours offline, it's more fun that way to make a day out of it watching college basketball, drinking and making fun of people for awful picks. Yahoo did add this year where our previous seasons results are archived through our league page, so maybe it's possible to run a keeper, I'm not sure, I don't run mine. BUT, if you have people spread all over the country, that won't work. We do keepers through Yahoo, and like you guessed, we just pick them all in the beginning of our online draft. But of course, everyone needs to be actually drafting OR if they are doing autodraft they can set their draft priority and just take out everyone elses keepers and list their keepers first, but we've never taken that risk. Everyone sends their keepers to the commish about 2 weeks before the draft and he sends them out to the league so you know whos keeping who. We always have a few people that can't make it due to not living in the area. We skype them in. In years past when we were all in school we did an AIM chat with the commissioner constantly updating the geocities draft board. But yeah, you need people responsible enough to pay attention and not keep drafting Ryan Howard as a 15th round steal.
  16. Games of interest tonight: Purdue @ OSU Purdue can tie MSU for 1st in Big Ten and pretty much lock up a tourney berth. OSU can get their marquee win, and put themselves in line for the tourney. SDSU @ UNLV SDSU probably needs it more as UNLV has a win at Louisville on their resume. Both are firmly on the bubble, and the winner probably pulls ahead for a chance at being an at-large. Miss St. @ UK Miss St. has the record of a bubble team, but not the resume. Their best win is either Houston or Vandy. A win here, and plowing through the awful SEC West could give them a chance.(though not a very good one) A loss by Kentucky and they should start looking over their shoulders. This is a team that should coast to 22-23 wins(pre tourney), but suffering their 3rd in a row would make things a little worrisome. South Carolina @ Florida I think South Carolina has the best resume in the SEC right now following their win at UK. A win at Florida definitely puts them tops for me. Florida has a win over Washington and nothing else. They need to pick up quality wins wherever they can.
  17. Well, at least DePaul hasn't beaten themselves to this point. No, they've taken care of that several times, especially the loss to powerhouse Morgan State. They're a freaking joke. It's okay, Lenti Ponsetto said Wainwright has the team headed in the right direction.
  18. At least againt Minnesota, it seemed Bruce threw him out there and told him to keep chucking cause nobody else was scoring anyway. He's been a disappointment to me, but then again, I expected him to be forced into 30 minutes per game by this point, which probably would've helped him quite a bit development wise. For now he's a nice weaopon off the bench who has the potential to get hot and go off.
  19. It was defensible at face value. If the Cubs knew they were gonna give up on either of them if they sucked for 3 weeks then they're idiots for not trading them.
  20. There's no reason to roster him now, I don't think Jim Hendry really understands how 40 man rosters work. Nevermind this post, Robnett was on Oakland's 40 man roster already. After Snyder is dumped for nothing next offseason, Robnett can take over his spot of OF that will never see the majors and can get dumped in the '11 offseason.

  22. Well, Wuertz was given a shot, he succeeded, and they still traded him away. If Hendry lets his manager decide who's on the team, then it is Hendry's fault these guys are on the team. What the hell are you being paid for?
  23. The Cardinals' is easy. Pujols' elbow gives out. Otherwise, they have a ton of depth, especially position players. They might be better off if a few guys get hurt and give some prospects a chance. If Wainwright gets hurt(he had arm troubles in the minors and missed 10 starts last year with a finger problem), their rotation is Carpenter(< 25 IP the last 2 years combined), Lohse, Wellemeyer, Piniero, and I don't know, Brad Thompson? They have Wallace and his 200 professional at bats I guess, and Skip Schumaker is a decent 4th OF I guess, but they aren't going to be better off with injuries or even closer to that. Is Braden Looper not still a starter for them (Honest question?) ZIPS seems to think they have a bunch of guys who could fill in with adequate numbers: Jaime Garcia, Jesse Todd, PJ Walters are all names it lists. Looper's a free agent.
