  1. I think that's what'll happen with Trammel as manager. to be important, more important to be nice>
  2. I'm guessing the guys at Bally's weren't from third world countries.
  3. Every time Wolf is available people talk about how he wants to be on the west coast. I'd bet that's why he didn't take it right away, cause come on, you're Randy Wolf dude. Also, how the hell is he only 31? I had him pegged for about 37.
  4. His head didn't double in size.
  5. I believe the back injury news came out some time during the season didn't it? When he went on the minor league DL?
  6. Northwestern's done. Holding serve at home & winning at IU only brings them to 18-11. Their other road games don't look doable(at MN, PU, OSU) They had their chances with close losses @ Butler, @ PSU, and vs. Purdue. Hold on to 2 of those, and 20 wins mighta done it, but barring a Big Ten Tourney run to the finals they're out. Michigan put a nice effort, woulda been great to get that win for the conference, but it still looks good on their resume. To get the at-large they're going to need to come away with one of the Purdue or MSU games. 9-9 will probably get them in, but with a rough schedule, that would likely take a couple road wins(NU and Iowa their best bets)
  7. The officials appartenly "took into account the current state of the Indiana program" when looking at the replay of that elbow. Punk.
  8. St. John's isn't ridiculous. Cincinnati isn't ridiculous. Brey has failed this year. He took the Irish to the tournament his first 3 years(first visits since 1990), and since then has been there twice in 5 years(and is about to make it 2 for 6) Chris Thomas and Torin Francis never improved from their freshmen years. He's stagnated, and this team stinks right now.
  9. Important late afternoon/night games: FSU/Clemson FSU should coast to a tourney bid with a win here. A Clemson win keeps them on pace for a 2 or 3 seed as they don't have another difficult matchup the rest of the way until their last game of the year against Wake. Michigan/UConn Michigan looked very impressive against PSU the other night after losing 5 of 6 before that. A win here and they could swing a tourney berth with an 8-10 Big Ten record based on their monster nonconference wins. UConn can lose 2-3 games the rest of the way and hold on to their #1 seed. They have 2 left with Pitt, a game at Marquette, and the Big East tourney. They can survive a loss her and grab a 1, but they can only afford to lose one game they shouldn't IMO. MN/OSU Both look like good bets for the tourney, both sitting at 6-4 in conference. Winner keeps a chance at winning the Big 10, loser will be out of the race. Northwestern/Iowa NU has put themselves into bubble talk, and can't afford to slip up in games they should win. They lose at Iowa, their chances are toast. Iowa can still make the NIT by holding serve at home, and hoping for a bid, but the game is largely unimportant to them. Baylor/Texas Tech Baylor is on a 4 game losing streak in which they faced the top 4 teams in the Big 12. They've slipped into a tie for 8th in the Big 12, and likely slipped in the tourney pecking order behind Kansas St. and Nebraska and not really much distinguishing them from A&M. They lose this, they're pretty much done. KSU/A&M Jockeying for position to grab a Big 12 at large spot. KSU is in a better spot than A&M right now, and a home loss for the Aggies would be trouble since they're in the much more difficult Big 12 south. Missouri/Iowa St. Missouri will get ranked this week with a win. They have no bad losses this year. OK St./KU Their win at Nebraska is looking better, but OK St. needs to beat a couple of these top teams to have a chance at the tourney. KU is undefeated in conference play, but haven't played any of the other top 4 yet. If they avoid going 0-4 in those games, while beating the also-rans they should grab a protected seed. Providence/WV Providence needs to beat somebody on the road before being taken seriously. WV needs to keep beating the nobodies if they're not going to beat anybody of substance in conference play. Gonzaga/Memphis The 2 most overrated teams in NCAA go at it to see who gets an undeserved protected seed.
  10. Siena loses at Rider, probably costs them a chance at an at-large. They could have benefitted from a better bracketbuster draw. Northern Iowa is dominating the MVC this year, but that as their marquee win coupled with bad losses to Rider and Wichita St., likely isn't enough. I guess if they lost to Niagra in the championship they could have a chance, but they'd have to hope for no conference tourney upsets.
  11. And every football player uses PEDs, but nobody cares because NFL analysts and 90% of its fans are meathead buffoons.
  12. I don't think there's real incentive to dig anything up on Sosa. He's not playing anymore and kind of vanished. This just makes Ken Griffey's accomplishments all the more impressive. Looking at that normal-dude body, there's no way he used anything. Alex Sanchez.
  13. Bonds, ARod, Clemens, and McGwire won't make the HOF. That is certainly something to be gained. If ARod, Clemens and Bonds don't make the hall of fame, then there is no hall of fame.
  14. The feathers in Tennessee's cap was that they had no bad losses and they had noncon wins over Marquette and Georgetown. Now in the past 24 hours you have Tennessee with a bad loss, Marquette losing to a bad USF team, and Georgetown putting themselves out of the tourney barring a great run to close it out.
  15. OH GMAFB GOTTLEIB. Important to remember that Tennessee won at Arkansas??? So did Auburn and Mississippi St.!!
  16. Lawl at Tennessee.
  17. Notre Dame is bad.
  18. Ha, marine biologist.
  19. Love the euphemism.
  20. ENOUGH ALREADY. The bottom of the Big East is awful. They are going to have a lower percentage of teams make the tourney than the Big Ten, and possibly the ACC or Pac 10. They're still a good conference, but this talk about how deep they are, when half their teams might not make the tournament, with 1/4 of them not even belonging in major conference ball is annoying as hell. I always defer to Jay Bilas (as anyone in college hoops should do because he's awesome), who says that there's an argument to be made for which conference is the best overall, just not 1-12. Well of course not, but that's a silly way to look at it. Why does the Big East get to lop off their 4 worst teams in a comparison? If they take out four teams it should be the top two and the bottom two. That's the most fair way. But really no one should get to eliminate any teams. Your conference is your conference. I don't know if that's really fair either. The best way to compare conference to conference is to look at the entire thing. Yeah, you can't match team to team, but it's not that hard to look at the strength of a conference top to bottom without arbitrarily removing teams.
  21. Brey should be in legit trouble after that Cincy loss. ND will probably make the NIT no matter what(assuming a winning record) cause they're ND and they'll draw, but Brey should probably be canned if they only finish a couple games over. Have you heard any rumblings at all about him being on the hot seat?
