  1. Or, perhaps, he just really dislikes their approach to the offseason. Being critical of the Cubs for two, three, even four days in arow doesn't necessarily mean that one has an unreasonable bias against a team. Rather, it could just as easily mean that he has a diehard loyalty that makes the decisions made this offseason difficult to swallow. No kidding. I've been critical of the off-season for a lot more than three or four days in a row.
  2. Maybe Lee is getting extended this year, plus they're saving some for midseason in case they're actually around .500. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
  3. I found this article very interesting. It's about a good minor league hitter that's left off of a guy's top prospect list and the reason why the guy left him off. Plate discipline is addressed and Corey Patterson comes up in the discussion. The thread below the article is interesting as well. Article on plate discipline in prospects
  4. Do ya mean "intention" there Dan? While it is likely a typo, I wouldn't be surprised if Duquette did say that. He never was a guy that you'd expect to find fighting over that last chair in the Mensa Musical Chairs game. Does Mensa have a Musical Chairs game? Are you a member? I can vouch for JC as a member. He brought the baked beans to last summer's picnic.
  5. I can't wait to see the next thread on an awful player we do sign that plays a couple of positions.
  6. Prior's no slouch with the bat either!
  7. At this point, the Cubs have every intention of starting Murton in left field to begin the season. That's about as much of a lock as you can have at this point. Thanks.
  8. Bruce, if you're still here, Do you think Murton is a lock in left? Like, absolutely his to lose, or has to show in spring training last year wasn't a fluke? EDIT- And, Happy New Year. Nice to have you stop by on your vacation!
  9. Could it be in conjunction with the other trade rumor? I.E., someone to replace Prior in the rotation. I assume Miller is ready to pitch in 2006.
  10. I just can't believe you're so down on your own uncle. :)
  11. And your real name is? Louis Skolnick
  12. In a study released by the Council of Internet Surfing, those who used their real name as their user name were found to be slightly cooler than those who used made up names.
  13. If the Cubs acquired Tejada they would have one of the best IF's in the league. How is that not a strength? Now don't get me wrong, I love Prior, I just don't see how this is the WORST Cubbie trade in your lifetime. When you are looking at Tejada's achievments, do you just throw them out the window? He still had a great year last year for a SS. Would having one of the best INF's in the league really be a strength if we had to decimate our rotation in order to get it? It's never a good idea to create one hole to fill another. You're right. Having Neifi start at SS is a much better option. Almost as good as Rusch starting games instead of Prior.
  14. He also knows nothing about a pitcher's fatigue level, like to when to pull when he's drained. U.K., what do you think of Marshall's assesment of Prior's mechanics? Didn't Will Carroll spotlight Prior as a pitcher with an ideal motion?
  15. So, that loop in Prior's delivery is what caused him to get hit by a linedrive?
  16. I'd say that wish would be granted!
  17. What was "Moonlight" Graham's line again?
  18. I agree and think that all Prior needs to do is avoid injury to do that. If he makes 30+ starts, he should contend for the NL Cy Young, along with Zambrano. p.s.- I understand that staying healthy and getting run support are both big ifs for these fellas to compete for a Cy.
  19. Yeah. And like when I said, "While not indicating a deal is close, neither (article) seem to think Prior is untouchable at all", the part about Prior not being untouchable is what scares me. I wouldn't trade Prior for hardly anybody.
  20. Daily Herald, but not Bruce Tribune I think these are both new. I know they are both depressing. While not indicating a deal is close, neither seem to think Prior is untouchable at all.
  21. What else is there? To be a Cub fan is to eat, sleep and breathe the darkness. BTW, I like the trade. Dusty's just going to ruin Prior's arm anyway. If you love something, set it free, eh?
  22. I will echo an earlier post and say I'd rather have Patterson in right and pray for a career turnaround. Then take the extra money and sign a free agent pitcher. At least some of them are good.
