  1. I found it interesting that in at least one of the articles Baker said he talked to Walker several times over the winter. Walker later said that he and Baker played phone tag and never got to talk. This is not the first time a player has directly refuted a conversation that Baker claimed to have with them. I just don't get it.
  2. I want to hear the answer to this, too. I will be getting an MLB package for the first time this year.
  3. It doesn't look like it would be tough to find a good player, but an elite one at third might be difficult. I'm picking 4, so A-Rod will already be gone and someone already has Miggy as a keeper. Now, of those other guys how many would be considered elite? I would think the drop off from an Aramis to Mike Lowell could be significant, for instance. I do see lots of guys with big year potential, but other than Chipper, is there a lot of consisency? I'm not arguing, I'm just asking.
  4. I'd probably wait til 3rd round. If you can't get Santana, go after a guy like Tejada, Utley, Wright (an elite player at a tough to find position). Then go after a pitcher. Guys like Zambrano, Prior, Webb, Harden, Zito, etc should be on the board still. Awesome, thanks. You know, a guy that I've targeted is our own Aramis. With him turning 27, I think all he needs is good health to hit like another Ramirez that's often drafted top 5.
  5. I wouldn't be too scared of that. He may suffer a dropoff playing for a team he doesn't want to be on, but I still think he gets traded mid season and gives you a huge 2nd half. Plus, I guess the gap from here down to the next level of shortstops is significant enough that a dropoff still puts him at a large advantage.
  6. I'm sorry, I'm not following. Do you mean Carroll is suggesting that the E.R. trip was for his shoulder?
  7. By the way, on the position scarcity front, a lot of places have Tejada ranked very high, but I am scared of him starting to decline this year.
  8. Sounds good. So when are you guys looking at taking a pitcher? Are they deep enough now that you can just wait and see how the draft shakes out, or is the second round gonna pretty much be full of pitchers?
  9. So, my next question is where do you guys go for your fantasy rankings. Or do you just do them yourself? I too like Texiera, but he's no higher than 6 or 7 in the magazines and websites of seen.
  10. You and Rawaction are making me feel pretty good about my pick!
  11. I should have mentioned that Miggy is someone's keeper. He was the first name that popped into my head until I heard that. I think he's the only big name keeper in our league.
  12. We have a 12 team league with a live draft. I am assuming the first three picks will be A-Rod, Pujols, and Vlad. If one of them drops, I'll pick that one. However, if it goes as most expect, I am sitting at 4. So, who would you take? There's Manny, but he's on the wrong side of 30. There's Johann Santanna, but do I want a pitcher that early? One guy I'm thinking of that might be a little of a stretch is Texiera. What do you guys think?
  13. pfft...still a lazy, uncoachable jerk. i bet he got there early solely so he could refuse more autograph requests. Wait, Corey showing up early for spring training makes him lazy and uncoachable? Sounds to me like he's trying to get off on the right foot with his new team. I don't understand the unnecessary Corey-hate. He was being sarcastic.
  14. Wow, that's only 50% less than what he says that I believe.
  15. Good call by Vance if they give him an invite.
  16. Today is the day!

    HUH?

Dusty found out he was, and for Pudge's own good hid them from him.
  20. Sabo corked his bat.
  21. 7 days until daily articles in numerous news outlets about Cub baseball. =P~
  22. I'll go down as saying there's no way either of them put up those numbers. I'll agree that Murton won't get the .318 BA and .378 OBP, but I'd say he gets 13 HRs and 53 RBI. I don't think there's any point in projecting RBI's, and I guess he might get the HR, that part being accurate is almost irrelevent to me in light of the total production. The reason I included the RBI's was considering where Murton will probably bat in the lineup. If he's hitting 6th, then he should easily eclipse 53 RBI's. I understand your point about RBI's being irrelevant to overall production, but Murton should put up at least 53 RBI's and 13 HRs. This link looks at what Murton and John Rodriguez did after their call ups last year. The author draws a favorable conclusion for Matt. Man, it would be a tremendous boost if Murton had a break out year.
  23. 8 DAYS
  24. Jim McMahon number of days. Or Roy Hobbs. Or Roger Maris. Either way, it's only 9 more days
  25. Yes. They could even sign them to a one year arbitration deal, then work out a 3 year deal before spring training ends. This will likely be done with Pierre, and hopefully be done with Zambrano.
