  2. I never read this 'writer' (and I use the term VERY loosely) any more. IMO, Mariotti is just about the worst one out there. It's not that he critcises the Cubs that bothers me. I mean, call a horse, a horse, but it's his manner of doing so that smacks of childish whining and ranting that makes him unreadable. There are much better posts here by (name your poster) than his pieces (of dung), and the guys around here seldom spare the rod.
  3. I don't know if they are worse that the Rockies, but they are pretty bad.
  4. I have to ask the same question - How is he seeing this while the game is going on? IMO, his focus should be one place - on the action on the field. Also, I have no problem with himm commenting on something he sees or hears later (after the game - e.g. replays). He plays, he's a fan, and he has an opinon. If an announcer says something stupid, or something he thinks is off the mark or out of line to hundreds of thousands of people, why should he be chastised for trying to set the record straight? In this case though, Cardinal announcers praise Cardinals? Big deal, and who cares.
  5. This whole post is dumb.
  6. That's a little extreme. I agree, that is a very poor analogy, and IMO, inappropriate. Yes, I believe something precipitated it. Please note that I also said the sucker-punch was bush. Yes, I think that these MANAGEMENT-participants (especially Perry) need to be severly punished. If Duncan did anything other than try to stop any violence, yes, he should be suspended as well. I did not say that Duncan started it, but that SOMETHING precipitated it? What that was I don't know. But yes, I believe that something precipitated the punch. Doesn't justify it, but it does explain it. I know what it says in the article(s), but I do not believe that everything makes it to the newspaper. There seems to me to be some bad blood between LaRussa/Duncan, and a number of other team's staff. Now, I NEVER said it was all anybody's fault in particular, but most certainly, I believe that there is likely enough responsibility to go around to all parties involved. I most certainly am biased. I am a Cub fan, and as such never claimed to be unbiased. However, I simply posed some questions about the situation.
  7. Me too, that's why my post-name is gus_dog.
  8. IMO, nothin' wrong with a little chin music. However, intentionally throwing at the noggin' is something I don't condone. That is, players might get hit, unintentionally, from throwing inside and the pitch gets away. It's an occupational hazard. Throwing with the sole intention of beaning someone is entirely different. You can effectively convey the message without hitting them. JMHO.
  9. Really? That seems like a design flaw. I'm just thinking that the premium members would have 100% access accross the board. Hmmm...., thanks for the info.
  10. Its just as easy for you to remove it from the link. Maybe. What about everyone else? You see, the thing is, you could remove it from your post, and save all other readers who don't have premium, thereby one person does it once, instead of everyone else having to do it just to read it. I'm just sayin'.
  11. I know..., my reply was more toward MPC to remove it from his post.
  12. Premium forum = no access for me
  13. Oh, I agree that what Zambrano did was totally out of line. VERY bush. What do you think about Morris purposefully hitting a Cub, then admitting so in the press afterward, but not earning himself a suspension? I remember Baker was really miffed at the fact that Wood got ejected/suspended for throwing high and tight (didn't hit anyone). Seems to be a bit of a double-standard. IMO, the Cubs brought it upon themselves (with the umps) by all of their griping and crying, and childish antics. Morris should have been suspended as well, IMO.
  14. Huh? I said Carpenter would win. And last year is irrelevant.
  15. Very succinct, and pretty accurate. =D>
  16. I just think that last year is irrelevant, period.

  18. After the suspensions and such, I have to say that these guys deserve it, and IMO, the suspensions are too light. These guys are MANAGEMENT, and as such need to lead. On another note, I find it interesting that the Cardinals seem to be involved here (again). Weren't they involved in similar incidents with the Cubs? Of course, many Cardinals & Cardinal partisans say that the Cubbies are bush. It is interesting, no? The Pirates must be bush too? At what point in time do the Cardinals get any type of consideration as being bush? I will grant that Duncan got sucker-punched, which IS bush, but what is really going on to precipitate this? Hmmm...., very interesting indeed. Discussion, please?
  19. Yes, there is a way. This year is this year, last year was last year. They do not look at last year when voting for this year like you are doing here. If you are looking for consistency in the voting from the media, I don't know that you're going to find it. FTR, I think Carpenter (not 'Carp') will end up winning because of his wins. Whether or not he is the most deserving candidate is highly debateable.
  20. Ya, you know, Macias deserves to play more..... #-o ](*,)
  21. Yes, it is. Our outfield has absolutely, unequivocably sucked...., badly this year. I think I'm going to go have a good cry.
  22. ....every other outfielder they've had this year has been terrible?
  23. Yes, and if that were the case, K-Town would be arguing for Clemens because of his being a Cardinal, uh, no, I meant to say because of his win total. Although, both would likely be true. I make this observation based solely on the previous pages within this thread, and it is, of course, JMHO.
  24. You seem upset gus_dog. I thought we were cool. If my presence bothers you, I'll be glad to refrain from participating here, as I respect you. Upset? How could you possibly garner that emotion from a couple of questions? Not upset..., simply curious.
  25. ...and have been playing very well. My buddy (Sox fan) is starting to get very nervous. The Sox have six more games against the Indians. This could get REAL interesting. Does anyone here think the Sox will choke?
