  1. In addition to this, I also would say that it is highly illogical, and really, just bad business to run the club the way Dusty does. He states that he 'owes' starts to Neifi because he performed very well in April/May. If you have a better option, go with it. Neifi, is a good player, and I like him as a back-up, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING is 'owed' to Perez that he doesn't 'owe' to any other player on the roster, which is a fair shot at playing. As is, Cedeño got screwed because of Dusty 'owing' Perez something.
  2. For example, the book on the Cubs is to run on them, and run some more. They are more likely to throw to the wrong base than to throw you out. The book on their hitters is to not throw a strike on the first pitch, because they're likely going to swing at it no matter where it is. These kinds of things?
  3. If the Sox are winning, you mute during their half of the inning, then you turn the volume back on for their opponent assuming it's a close game. There's no better sound in baseball than the sound of silence emerging from the White Sox booth when they lose a lead. Isn't that wierd? I mean, you can hear a pin drop. Most announcers lament their own team's inadequacies, or marvel at what the other team just did. Those guys just clam up completely. I wish they would clam up more often.
  4. Well, based on how his 'regulars' did this season, the Cubs might actually have a better chance of winning if he played the kids. JMHO.
  5. Sloppy game - Crede leads off tenth with HR. Sox win 7-6.
  6. I think their TV guys are pretty good too, in what little I've heard of them. I also like the Tigers' TV guys, though again I don't tune in that often. The Indians' manager for the record is Eric Wedge. Several of my Indians fan friends are "less than enamored" with Wedge, fwiw. You see this with every manager/team/fanbase, IMO. There's a large contingency of Cardinal fans that perpetually want to get rid of LaRussa too, despite his success there. I'd be willing to bet there are Braves fans who strongly dislike Cox too.
  7. Ozzie es un bastardo y muy loco tambien. El no me gusta. Ozzie, burro, es lo mismo.
  8. A little doom and gloom? GMs are willing to trade. Deals are out there and can be made. C'mon gooney, we ARE Cub fans, after all. It's part of the deal, isn't it?
  9. I was actually kind of being tongue-in-cheek earlier, but now that I see the stats, Willis has to be given some serious consideration. I really thought Carpenter had it pretty much locked up, and he still may, but, you can't really ignore Willis now. I think you're right Vance - whomever excels down the stretch here might just take the trophy. IMO, Carpenter will still win, but Cardinals being in cruise control hurts him. Willis is second, and Clemens (especially after his most recent performances) is the dark horse. Remember, I'm just trying to predict what the writers will do - not sayin' who actually deserves it.
  10. Could the Yanks make up 4 on the White Sox? Certainly possible - not easy, but it could happen. The Yanks are now only a half game behind the Red Sox. This is a four-team race for three spots.
  11. This makes for great drama, and it is fun to watch. I also get to watch some other fans sit around wringing their hands. I really do feel sorry for my one friend - he's a good guy, and a good fan. The rest of those bitter, hating Sox fans are now getting a little comeuppance. This game can be very humbling - even for the fans.
  12. Look out....Willis might just swoop in there and take it!!
  13. Entertaining game as Cleveland wins 7-5. lead down to 2.5 games. Boone's two-run single in 8th was as clutch as they come. Indian pen is pretty good. I remember Wickman when he was on the Brewers, but he didn't weigh 500 pounds then. Man, he's huge now! Not exactly lights out, but very effective nonetheless.
  14. I'm listening in on WMVP. Ya know, the Sox TV announcers blow..., hard, but their radio team is pretty good. I'll post the score at the end, as soon as I can get here.
  15. Well, Giles always had great stats & production at Wrigley Field....., but then again, that was against Cub pitching.
  16. Difference being that this is only ONE thread, not several, AND, the Cubs are quite done, so what else can we Cub fans hope for? You can be sure that there are still several threads being started daily at the White Sox board about the Cubbies. I don't even have to look. It's worse than CardsTalk when it comes to threads about the Cubs.
  17. My DSL was on the fritz earlier - no service at all - but I just stopped by to update the thread title and I see that someone has already beaten me to it. Hmmmm....., anyhoo, I'm glad to see that the Sox are complying with my wishes and choking appropriately. :D If this choke job continues, it will easily dwarf any other choke job I can think of off-hand...., including the Cardinal choke-job last season. I feel like we are all watching an accident on the expressway, in slow motion. Don't want to look, but you can't turn away either.
  18. Correct. When going to the games, how many others notice the amount of fans wearing "Wrigley Field" shirts? What kind of BS is that? I've never once seen "Busch Stadium" or even a "Yankee Stadium" apparel being worn or sold. Not for me. I call BS.
  19. Both teams win - lead still 4.5 games.
  20. Try wearing Cubs gear to the Cell and see how the situation changes. Of course, you might just have sitting in the midst of some nice people, but I have been to several games at the Cell, and my experiences have been less than ideal. I know exactly what you mean XZero77. I was truly concerned for my safety during a recent confrontation (btw sox/cub fans at the cell block). I was not even involved, but it was kind of ugly.
  21. Tino was booed this season and it wasn't because he is with the Yankees. He wasn't introduced as a former Cardinal, was he? No. But the "best fans in baseball" would never boo unless they meant it. Uh-oh dalgreen, you brought up the 'best fans in baseball' thingy. Please, don't go there.
  22. The duplicative nature of the comment was not lost on myself. I enjoy that type of banter. Are you wearing a smoking jacket and holding a snifter of brandy? Did somebody say rat?
  23. Not cool, Dude! Definitely not cool!! (GEICO commercial) Cavemen, in general, would be offended at such a comment.
  24. The duplicative nature of the comment was not lost on myself. I enjoy that type of banter.
  25. One guy I work with who is a Sox fan is a pretty nice guy, and I actually feel a little empathetic toward him. He's been nervous for the past six weeks - watching it happen. Another guy there is one of those abrasive Cub-hating Sox fans, and I am just smiling at him every day. :P
