    Yes, since the Cubs did it 10 years ago, they must still do it today. Jim Hendry has clearly shown that he has a history of signing washed up bums to big contracts. Oh and the training staff is always wrong about when guys will be back. And Chris Speier needs to stop getting guys thrown out at home. And why is Blanco's first name Gabor? And Matt Murton should stop peeing on his hands. Otherwise URINE trouble!!!! LOLMOAWMROIAJROI!!!!! i only said that because jc will be the cubs gm in 15 years

    They were about to give up more just to get Huff and Baez. You can replace Hanley with their pitching prospect, and I think you can get it done. BTW, Kent is a good enough LOOGY to look really nice to a team like Boston who have pen issues. They actually weren't getting Baez. They were getting Cameron, but that's beside the point. Point is they're giving up a TON of talent and only getting back one difference maker. That doesn't seem like a deal Theo would make to me. The would also be shedding Manny's contract for 2006-7, when he's a 10-5 guy, and thus harder to deal. That would have value to Theo, since it would allow them to pursue Burnett in the offseason as well as other players. It's also worth noting that the one difference maker they're getting is 25 years old.

    Actually, the scary thing is that winning IS Dusty's priority...it's just he has a really horrible method to achieve it. I honestly believe that in Dusty's mind, what he's doing is best for the team, and puts them in the best position to win.

When did I say anything about "Joe Schmoe" getting his feelings hurt? Please point it out or find another reason to disagree with what I posted. Sorry for labeling "the person next to them" as Joe Schmoe. I guess you can call them Jane Doe or whatever you want. But I got from your post that who cares if the rich ballplayers get their feelings hurt, but we SHOULD be concerned if non-millionaires feelings are hurt. Sorry if I got the wrong idea.

    You don't think .330/.418/.502 at 11.5 million is reasonable? Even if you don't, I think Alou would have re-signed with us in the 8 million range. That's turning out to be a huge mistake by Hendry, all in the name of team chemistry.

    We should have just picked up Alou's completely reasonable option, and then we'd be able to give up less prospects for Schmidt.
