  1. Steve Stone? maybe that's the real source of stone's hatred of mercker, when mercker did the same trick on him.
  2. it's pretty obvious, looking at that picture, who the brains were behind that stunt.
  3. tell fukudome sorry for breaking our promise and put him in centerfield.
  4. jason marquis had a 2.22 era through may 14th last season...let's not get too excited yet.
  5. steve kline when he signs with the cubs
  6. his patient approach fits in very nicely with this lineup.
  7. when soriano is cold, he's really cold. and when soriano's hot, he's really hot. this is nothing new. when soriano's on a cold streak in a few weeks the same people will demand his removal from the starting role.
  8. No, he was good at Wrigley because he was an other-worldly baseball player for a 6 year stretch from 2000-2005; consequently, those were the years he played in the National League Central against the Cubs. So facing the Cubs "pitching staff" (and I use that term loosely) had nothing to do with it? Really? I agree he had good number those years, but facing the Cubs staff had a lot to do with those numbers at Wrigley. Daniel Garaby strikes fear into the hearts of no one. the cubs have had a good pitching staff since 2003. edmonds was an amazing player, that's why he hit well at wrigley. it's not complicated.
  9. I wouldn't care if Jim Edmonds is Babe Ruth incarnate for the entire time he's in a Cub uniform. I'll be pulling for the Cubs still, but I'll still despise Jim Edmonds. I will officially refuse to recogize him as a Cub. And the Cubs and Edmonds will officially not care.
  10. I have no idea why Edmonds would want to play here. Between the problems there have been between him and Z and the hell the fans are sure to give him if he signs... i doubt a z vs. edmonds issue would come up, honestly.
  11. it's his numbers last year that concern me, not so much his numbers this year.
  12. It's a pretty low risk signing if we assume that Pie is riding the bench in Chicago no matter what.
  13. maybe for the cubs to win the world series, we must sell our souls to the devil. and obviously, in baseball terms, selling your soul means having your most hated player join your team. i've got a good feeling about jim edmonds being a cub.
  14. i'd squat down real low and try to draw a walk
  15. david ross 2006: .255/.353/.579. javier valentin 2005: .281/.362/.520 there's some sort of anti-curse on the reds catcher position, i believe.
  16. if pie is going to iowa no matter what, what the hell, sign edmonds.
  17. No I wouldn't. I know Dunn is phenominal masher, but he's a DH playing the field, much like Carlos Lee. I still value defense over offense, over the course of a season. Plus when you take into account the fact that either Soriano or Dunn would be moved to RF, with Fuku moved to CF, I don't Dunn's offense, makes up for as bad that OF defense would be. Give me Milton Bradley. so for a left-fielder their defense is more valuable than their offense? huh?
  18. Not for non-deficient baseball players. link So then Ankiel just took it after he got hurt to look ripped. Ok. Whatever lets you think he didn't cheat and is a natural I guess. He took it because he thought it would help him. I said as much in my first post. If someone wants to call that cheating then that's fine (I don't even remember if it was banned or not), it's just not performance enhancing. It's not about what I think anyway. It's the prevailing medical opinion. My fandom has nothing to do with the argument. so do you think sosa using the corked bat was cheating?
  19. i think their 2005 world championship should be taken away because of this horrific stunt
  20. it's as if he's a former pitcher who used to throw in the high 90's
  21. I dont know but it seems like everytime Z faces the Reds its Harang on the mound for them. last year z faced the reds 6 times and 4 of those times harang was the starter.
