  2. if the cubs are still 9 games over .500 everything's cool. we're still getting a ton of baserunners every game, i'm not worried or mad.
  3. Are we 9-3 vs. the pirates now? this loss ain't that big of a deal.
  4. nope. we are beat. i was just pretending to post that.
  5. this ain't going into extra innings, folks
  6. I think it's absolutely a sure thing he gets in. What isn't a sure thing is whether it's on the first ballot. No way. He doesn't have the numbers and baseball writers have an extremely long memory. See Santo, Ron. W L ERA 200+ IP 216 146 3.46 9 The only thing he's done that is HOF worthy is keep the walks and HRs (for the most par) down. I'd love to hear Bruce Miles opinion on this. sportswriters love postseason success. they think that's very important. 7. does his elbow injury last season have anything to do with this loss of power?
  8. maddux, glavine, and johnson are 100% 1st ballot no question. the other 3 probably get in a year or 2 later. though it's a crime if any of them (with the possible exception of schilling) don't make it right away. I don't see how Glavine ranks ahead of the others. He's not in Maddux's or the Unit's class. i agree. but 300 wins = first ballot in the minds of sportswriters. 300 wins = auto-induction, it doesn't = first ballot. i guess we'll see in 5-6 years. plus, i think a lot of sportswriters will get a kick out of putting glavine and maddux in at the same time if the opportunity arises.

  11. probably the mets. piazza's indicating that was the best time of his career.
  12. Disgustingly better than anything ever? Have you ever heard of Bob Gibson? yes. pedro was better.
  13. they should put soriano at 1B tomorrow to give him practice for the future.
  14. Pedro is considering retirement at the end of the season. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3404536 It's been said before, but Pedro in his prime is the best pitcher of all-time. And it's not even particularly close.
  15. What do you mean why isn't he considered? It looks as though McCann is leading the All-Star votes and his numbers aren't as good as Soto's although there are very good. Oh, I thought you were saying he wasn't on the ballot. The answer to your question is very simple, and obvious. It's a popularity contest and Geo isn't that well known. If he keeps hitting, and keeps getting awards, all the fantasy people are going to know him, and he'll probably make the team. are cubs players really that obscure? cubs are probably the 3rd or 4th most popular team in baseball.
  16. in his defense, it's probably impossible to sell playing half your games at petco park to a power hitter.
  17. if negative talk really works, tell him he's worthless and he'll never amount to anything in the majors.
  18. i really didn't need to see the outline of that guy's balls
  19. someone call 911 cause soriano is on fire
  20. 92nd place with a 166 espn! josh fogg (36) and jim edmonds (32) are my biggest contributors, but their lack of playing time may end up hurting me. brian giles (-3) is my biggest bust so far.
  21. fogg probably foolishly believed playing for dusty would be fun, and the wily vet griffey knew otherwise.
