  1. it's still not that out of the question for fuku to have 15+ homers.
  2. What's the story on this? a few years ago, with mike remlinger pitching, there was a pitch high and tight and you could hear a loud cracking noise, and berkman went down in a heep. he was holding his head and remlinger and others looked legitimitely concerned. well, after about 100 replays, it was obvious that the ball actually hit the bat, and it never struck berkman in the head.
  3. i LOVED that home run call by len. he should bring that back full time
  4. #1 all time in faking getting hit in the head by a pitch, too.
  5. the cards should definitely play on the safe side and sit him out the rest of the year.
  6. I still think Geo should be the DH. You can't plan your game around a 1/100 possibility.
  7. i agree with going for broke to get sabathia. some of these contracts we have may hamstring us in the future, and our farm system isn't that great. it may be now or never for the cubs.
  8. well, the cubs are doing what they're supposed to be doing. they're dominating the series' that they're supposed to, and treading water against the difficult part of their schedule. if they tread water during this part and stay dominant at home, they should be on their way to 90+ victories. i'm not all that worried about the tough road ahead.
  9. i'm sticking to my guns and saying this is a horrible signing. remember his defense in the first week of the season???
  10. When Soriano isn't the DH, I'd like Soto to be given that role.
  11. That's true, Edmonds numbers were supressed by PETCO, while Griffey's in a hitter-friendly park in Cincy. I'd still give him a slight edge, but not enough to make up the difference in defense after considering that. I hate not being able to keep throwing Edmonds under the bus... i think the slight edge that griffey has in obp is made up for the difference in salary and players we'd have to give up.
  12. Griffey is basically done. He wouldn't be worth giving up anything to do what Jim Edmonds already does (past his prime centerfielder who can still maybe contribute here or there), and at least we're paying Edmonds only the minimum. I can't see any justification for trading for Griffey.
  13. Eh, it's all BS from Dusty. I remember a similar quote during his Cub years.
  14. he looks like he's in his fifties. seriously, when they showed him on espn without his helmet, i thought i was looking at the dodger's hitting coach.
  15. If they're out of contention, they'd trade Sabathia whether or not Westbrook was on the team.
  16. i think this team is awesome, and i hope they stick around for a long time.
  17. If he could do that all the time with an occasional at the head, I can't imagine the K numbers he would have had. probably something ridiculous like a 10.76 k/9 ratio for his career.
  18. i think there's a basket catch incentive in edmonds' contract
  19. how about he gets traded to the marlins and hits a go ahead double in game 6 of the nlcs?
  20. 4 run lead slowly blown over the course of the last 5 innings in the most Cubbish way Yeah, its warranted do you know how many out of all the 30 teams in baseball blow 4 run leads in the span of a season? ALL OF THEM.
