  1. Just Manny being Manny :-# Last year he reported late and laced a double in his first ST AB. The most interesting piece in that article was about Manny being 50 miles south of Chicago picking out his custom car.
  2. At least ARam didn't blow off ST for appearing at Car Shows in Atlantic City
  3. It sounds really cool. A myth???? Check this out...
  4. His defense in the regular season better be better than that. Please, O baseball Gods... let me go without injury this season!
  5. That's a good point. For both the NBA and MLB, there are going to be a few games where your team just isn't there-the long season just makes it that way. Also, some players just don't have it at times-if it's an aberration, most people dismiss it as such. For most people, hustling doesn't become that big of a problem unless it happens on a decently routine basis. Bring back "greenies"!!!
  6. Tavarez is still a chump... he was just looking out for his countrymen.
  7. That's what he was doing.. security raised a stink because there was nobody in the drivers seat while he was unloading... essentially leaving the vehicle 'unattended'.
  8. please elaborate.... I don't see what was wrong with what he said either... the way I understood it was that Peavy simply told the cop to just go ahead and issue him a ticket for the way he was parked and he'd (Peavy) gladly pay the fine. What's the harm in that? EDIT: I failed to see this part of the story.... Katie Peavy detailed what happened next, according to her husband: Peavy was unloading the truck and pushing his bags through the gate when he was approached by a female security guard who told him to move the truck. “Jake told me he said he'd move it as soon as he got his last bag into the terminal,” Katie Peavy said. “But the guard said a truck couldn't be left at the curb without a driver.” The security guard said she would have to write him a ticket. Katie said Jake responded, “Write me a ticket” before saying “Call a real cop.”
  9. This is one of the best mental images of baseball I've had all offseason. Wrigley during this would rival Dodger Stadium in Gagné's heyday. No Metallica/AC-DC theme song needed, just the place going nuts. I believe Kerry is on record as being a big metalhead. So his theme music should be....?? "Balls to the Wall". I'm thinking "Harvester of Sorrow." That, or "Respect" Aretha Franklin?? Not a very intimidating choice of intro tune
  10. I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that the balls were juiced in the late 90s to help bring back interest in baseball following the strike year.
  11. Stay safe my Med Tech friend! I've been over there a "few" times since 1990. TSGT, USAFR 307th RHS, LAFB, TX AFSC: 2SO71
  12. I believe you're thinking of Juan Uribe
  13. Merker?? Isn't it about time we close the book on him? 39 and a rag arm is NOT what the Cubs need! I say PASS!
  14. My avatar expresses my feelings regarding this topic!
  15. That would be Carlos Marmol, Cuse. EDIT* I should've known that by the time I logged in to answer that, I'd be too late! :?
  16. I prefer 2% moo pus.
  17. Cats.
  18. I grew up a pepsi guy... but my real fav is Dr. Pepper
  19. What's more american than a good old fashioned apple pie?!?
  20. Tombstone all the way... especially when adding more toppings to make an extremely thick pizza.
  21. IIRC the game that kicked off that losing streak, was the one against the Cards when Mueller busted his knee on the tarp roll.
  22. ...and really, the only reason I wanted Girardi in as manager, so he'd bring Kranitz with him. Ah well, it'll be entertaining at least to see a "firey" mgr at Wrigley! :?
  23. how about Ramirez and Navoa for Lidge and Ensberg McClain likes local boys. (see Berkman, Pettitte, and Clemens.) Aardsma played at Rice and lives in the Woodlands. I think he'd have more value to the guy that seems to be ultimately calling the shots here. JUST SAY NO TO LIDGE!!! I can't handle signing another "choke" artist to close out our games.... see: Alfonseca, Hawkins, etc....
  24. I've met him a few times as he lives in the same town as I (New Braunfels, TX). He's good friends with my dentist. Super nice guy, too bad his career never took off with the Cubs.
  25. I'd swap Cincy and KC with Balt and Wash in your proposal.
