  1. Yes. I'd argue no when you consider the limited budget and other places we need help. Obviously Byrd is better, I just don't know for this team right now. That would mean Fuld becomes a full-time player. Probably end up around a .650-675 OPS, maybe not even that good. Compare that with the .800 OPS that Byrd will likely put up. 100-150 points of OPS is a lot. Sure Fuld's defense is better, but not nearly enough to compensate for the difference in OPS.
  2. Now lets sign Calero, sign or trade for a 4th OFer (Spilborghs?), and call it an offseason.
  3. Considering Byrd hits righties better than lefties, I doubt we'll see much of Fuld in center, which would be wonderful news.
  4. I would imagine with Knox down that Hester might return against the Lions, considering the weather won't be a factor this week. Oh and for those interested, NFL Network is re-airing the Bears/Vikings game tonight at 8:30 PM CST.
  5. I don't know, losing to a team like the Lions might be humiliating enough to force some changes. That said, I have never been able to, nor will I ever be able to root against the Bears. Even if we had a first-round pick.
  6. Yeowch. Dang. Get well soon Peanut. :( Bowman against Calvin should be fun.
  7. It doesn't make a bit of difference, but I wouldn't assume 7-9 just yet. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all for the Bears to fall flat on their face after a huge win on MNF, even though it is the Lions with Stanton/Culpepper.
  8. Oh I forgot to give props to Chris Williams. Outstanding work on Allen the entire game.
  9. I still think the Saints win the NFC.
  10. No Silva in the rotation is fantastic news.
  11. That should be asked immediately asked after this game. Why the hell didn't he get a chance to play earlier? According to the Bears, he had an injury very early in the season that kept him off the field for most of the season. What a great win. Sure it means nothing for us in terms of this season, but Cutler finally put together a solid game for the first time in months. Now we have a chance to finish the season at 7-9 and end on a good note. Props to the defense for not folding in OT after the missed FG. I actually thought Forte was okay today, he had a few tough runs which is more than I could say for him all year. Nice games by Harris and Hillenmeyer as well as Bowman, although he should have had two picks. Aromashodu is pretty good, I hope he stays around next year. All that said, I still think some or all of the coaching staff minus Toub needs to go. At least get rid of Turner.
  12. People really need to stop acting like Howry is a bad pitcher.
  13. The guy isn't just a normal base stealer, he stole 70 last year. Sometimes you have to look past OPS. I would trade quite a bit for him.
  14. I prefer Cameron as well, but signing Byrd would be light-years better than Ankiel or Podsednik.
  15. I'm pretty sure our momentum will peak too early and we'll lose, similar to the Eagles game. That said, I'm just happy we're being competitive.
  16. This is close.
  17. Defense has looked decent outside of that one long run. Of course none of that matters when you have the offense we have.
  18. Not surprised they went for it. At least our FG kicker is better than theirs.
  19. Give Cutler an o-line and some receivers and we'll see how he does.
  20. The Bears will lose this game, but I take comfort in knowing that Green Bay's season will most likely only be one week longer than ours.
  21. This organization's ability to accomplish absolutely nothing is beyond infuriating. I realize the offseason has only just begun, but you have teams out there making deals left and right, while we can't even rid ourselves of the guy we need to in order to make other deals, which is further proof that last offseason was the worst Cubs fans have seen in a long time. We've spent the first portion of this offseason unloading or trying to unload our two main offensive acquisitions from last year, Bradley and Miles. Hendry has dug himself a huge hole that I'm not sure he can get himself out of.
  22. On that note, its really unfortunate that Soriano wasn't/isn't a better 2nd baseman. It would give us more options, as we could get away with playing someone like Burrell or Dunn in LF. Infact, if this were the case I imagine we would have signed Dunn last year.
  23. He is. Adam Dunn level disaster except without the good hitting. Yeah I suppose you're right. Seven total innings in RF. No thanks.
  24. So I assume trading for and hanging onto Burrell isn't an option. He can't be any worse in RF than Bradley/Hoffpauir, or can he? Why is moving Kosuke to back RF a must? That said, I wouldn't mind Cameron in CF and Kosuke in RF, but haven't heard anything regarding Cameron as of late.
