  1. Is Aramis going to be with Iowa then or will he be done? The Quad Cities paper (team who played Peoria during his rehab) made it sound like he was joining the Cubs but he can't come off the DL for a couple more days can he? He is eligible to come off the DL on Wednesday. I assume he'll just make the trip with the team.
  2. You forgot the most likely scenario which is rack up 3 or 4 errors en route to a series sweep. No I think the Cubs will win tomorrow, and probably take 2 of 3 in Seattle just so they can put us through some more false hope. Then they'll fall flat again. This cycle has been going on all year. Just lose 15 in a row, please.
  3. That's pretty much the point being made here.
  4. Lets not forget that Kosuke also enabled us to tie the game in the 8th. We have too many good outfielders. Good win though. Keep it going.
  5. Soto will never get another start. Oh and 130 pitches for Wells? Nice going, Lou.
  6. Colvin got ripped and added muscle over the offseason, and he had decent power to begin with. So I don't think 20 HR over a full season is that much of a stretch. A few weeks ago he hit one of the longest homers I've ever seen at Minute Maid Park. The power seems to be there. His strikeout to walk ratio is what should be of more concern.
  7. This team has to lead the league in first inning runs allowed. Dempster especially.
  8. Gorz has pitched a total of 1 and 2/3 innings since May 26. If Wells has another bad start on Thursday, a change needs to happen. Obviously Lou doesn't want Gorz in any important bullpen role.
  9. Disappointing to see the no-hitter broken up by Juan Pierre, but better him with 0 outs than Alexei with 2 outs. I'm just glad it was a solid single and not a bunt, bloop, or worse yet a Jim Joyce part 2. Lilly has really been fantastic ever since he has gotten here. Oh and how did we not lose that game? The Sox having guys on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and failing to score was Cub-like. The Reds and Cards both lost today, so take the day off tomorrow and try to win another game Tuesday, and then another, etc. Man, I envy those who have been able to give up on the season already. But I think I'm going to set 10 GB of the division as the mark for when I officially stop caring.
  10. If Nady stays in bed this AM, we win 1-0. If the ump doesn't call Cashner's 3-0 pitch out of the zone to Pierre a strike, they get a run on the walk and most likely more. The Sox should have scored a lot more than 2 today. That still doesn't make me feel better about the loss though. Firesale soon please.
  11. Reynolds is good if you like a feast or famine player. His strikeouts totals are absolutely ridiculous. That said, he hits a ton of homers and draws a decent amount of walks. I'd definitely be interested.
  12. Dempster has been pretty bad his last three starts including this one. Good thing our ace Cy Silva goes tomorrow. :pig:
  13. Probably haven't been the first to notice this, but nice shot Vader...
  14. Nice to see some power from Jackson.
  15. I'm pretty sure our record would be a bit worse if not for Marlon Byrd. A nice signing by Hendry. And does Cashner remind anyone else of Wood? They're built similarly and both have the plus fastball. I'd still like to see Cash as a starter.
  16. Congrats from a Lightning fan.
  17. It's probably because a lot of people aren't Chicago sports fans for all 4 major sports. Personally, the Cubs are all I have until NFL Training Camp, so hearing things like "at least we have the Blackhawks" doesn't apply. I can't complain when it comes to hockey though, my team got the Cup in 03-04 and had 2 years to enjoy it because of the lockout. But I would trade all of that and more for a Cubs WS Title.
  18. Tracy just had a 4-4, 2 HR day in AAA today. Interesting timing.
  19. Oh and yesterday Soto has his best game in weeks and it's immediately back to the bench. I guess you have to ride any "hot streak" you can get from Koyie Hill at the plate.
  20. Just DL Ramirez! Let his thumb heal fully and give him 5-6 weeks to rest and work on his swing, then bring him back after the ASB. Getting him a start once every 3 or 4 games is not going to break a massive slump.
  21. Gibbs had a .388/.458/.592/1.050 final line at LSU this year against top competition. It's hard not to like that. Meanwhile I think it's interesting that with each passing round we've drafted a guy with a better ranking. 191 for Simpson, 96 for Golden, 60 for Gibbs, right? Just shows that Wilken doesn't give a damn what other people think.
  22. Link Wilken obviously knows something nobody else does about this guy if he's throwing out names like Lincecum and Oswalt right away. All we can do is trust he knows what he's doing and wait for the results. Whenever I'm confused or disappointed about a draft pick, I just remind myself that Albert Pujols was a 13th round pick and it always makes me feel better. :-)
