  1. http://www.accuweather.com/us/il/chicago/60605/forecast-hourly.asp Interesting. Weather.com basically has the rain starting now.
  2. Rain is about an hour away. Please get 5 innings in.
  3. I love how Lou starts Baker against a RHP, which is not an improvement even over a struggling Ramirez. Meanwhile we're going to be facing lefties both Friday and Saturday. Start him then.
  4. Looks like we'll probably get it started, but finishing it looks iffy right now. I could see us working up a huge lead early only to have it eventually rained out. Not because we're the Cubs, but because we're a bad baseball team and those things happen to bad baseball teams.
  5. At least Castro is a bright spot tonight.
  6. I am now on board. Trammell please.
  7. Nice, from two outs and nobody on to three runs. Please be good, bullpen.
  8. 0-2 and he lays it right down the middle. C'mon Silva.
  9. I don't mind it simply for the fact that this team needs some sort of spark right now. All I ask is that they leave him here and let him fight through his struggles, not send him down.
  10. This is a great post. The optimism on this board is few and far between, and most logic goes out the window due to the "we're the Cubs so that will/won't happen" argument. For example, the fact that the Cubs didn't hit Morton well last night doesn't change the fact that he is a bad pitcher and that more times than not a team is going to score a decent amount of runs off him. Just because "we're the Cubs" doesn't change anything. Our losing history doesn't have any effect on each new season.
  11. I wouldn't be so sure about that. This is the Cubs, the same team that makes loser starting pitchers look like gods. My point is that conceding the game after the opponent scores one run in the first inning is silly. The game isn't over, but to think the Cubs would destroy Morton is laughable. This team lives to suck against horrible starting pitching. We got him for 10 runs in 1 IP last August, and this year he is 0-5 with an ERA over 10. Even the Cubs offense at its worst should be able to squeeze out a few runs.

How about conceding the game when they have a horrible approach against a horrible pitcher and knowing that this isn't just any team... it's the Cubs? I guess.

  14. Relax guys we're facing Charlie Morton. Scoring runs is as close to inevitable as you can get.
  15. How is down by one run on the road against their best pitcher "embarrassing fashion"? I know its the Pirates but still. Paul Malholm is [expletive] terrible and we've been leaving runners everywhere. We've had far worse pitchers own us this year.

  17. Did I miss something? Is Byrd supposed to be hurt?
  18. Its a bad sign when the strongest part of our lineup is 6-8. C'mon Lou.
  19. Good point. Although Alston played pretty well in the playoffs last year, he still is not Jameer Nelson. And while I do agree with Flames that the Celtics can be a dangerous team, I much rather play them in the EC Finals than the Cavs for obvious reasons, the main being we would have home-court. This is all assuming we don't lay an egg against Atlanta however.
