  1. 6-0. I keep waiting for the wheels to fall off (and they probably will eventually) but we've already "won" this trade as far as I'm concerned. Cubs: -Got a SP who is currently 6-0 3.52 ERA -Received $9M from the Mariners -The trade allowed them to sign a replacement for Bradley that is currently OPSing .874 Mariners got: -A player who is OPSing .665, has missed two weeks, and is pretty much a headache. I know it's early and this trade will probably seem less lopsided by season's end, but Hendry may have done his research on this one.
  2. A 3-2 road trip against two first place teams. You'll take that everytime. Hey Fred, what's the Cubs record going into off days? It seems to have been pretty good this year.
  3. The fact that it worked out okay doesn't make it any better of a move. Lou needs to go.
  4. Brenly really laying into Lou right now.
  5. Why is Washington upset? He was safe and it wasn't that close.
  6. Feels like one of those games where we score all of our runs early and try to make it hold up.
  7. Umm...Brad Snyder? OPSing .964 in AAA right now. I know he is old and is basically another Hoffpauir but he hasn't played at the MLB level yet and therefore should probably be on the "possible" list.
  8. Great outing for Cashner, but please keep him in the rotation. We seem to be grooming a potential top of the line starter and we don't need to slow his progress by moving him to the pen at any level. Attended the Peoria/QC game tonight. Antigua's start was nothing special and Hak-Ju Lee seems to be a stud defensively. He made a couple of nice plays and rather smoothly. He had three hits as well, but at least two of them were just ground balls that found holes. Not sure how he's going to pan out offensively. This Peoria team doesn't appear to be too good, which was to be expected after the good crop of guys from last year moved up. Might be attending either tomorrow or Monday's game as well. I'll recap it if I go.
  9. I'm getting close to the point where I care more about these teams than the major league team. A couple more weeks of mediocrity should do the trick.
  10. Things like this scare me. Hendry is stupid enough to part with a few prospects for a guy who is past his prime and won't do much to improve this team. Stay far away, Jim.
  11. What's the record for infield singles by a rookie?
  12. A 30-minute, 64 pitch 1st inning and no runs.
  13. Colvin cannot be used as a defensive replacement later on if he is the DH. That said, I don't see why Lou couldn't put him in LF and use Soriano as the DH.
  14. Not even C.J Wilson? He's was in the top 2 in ERA for the AL until he got shelled by the Angels in his last start. I think he was also a very good closer last year but that might have been someone else. Heard the name but know nothing about him. I suppose it's a result of the fact that I don't follow the AL very closely except for Fantasy purposes. Anyways, score runs Cubs.
  15. I consider myself a pretty close follower of baseball but I haven't heard of any of the 3 guys Texas is throwing at us this weekend.
  16. As many have already said, I rather give Parker a chance over Howry, but whatever. At least David Patton was DFA to make room.
  17. Grabow and it's not close. I think you're saying things out of hurt and anger. Nope. Bob Howry's career: 3.79 ERA 1.24 WHIP John Grabow's career: 4.19 ERA 1.46 WHIP
  18. Uh, what? You'd rather the Cubs just looked like crap for the rest of the game? I rather lose convincingly than via a walk-off. You're going to have to help me here...how is losing 4-1 more "convincing" than losing, say, 5-4 on a walk off? How is losing by 3 runs as opposed to 1 on a walk-off not a more convincing loss? You basically know the game is over ahead of time. That's my point.
  19. But since Grabow is coming in now it probably won't have to be a walk-off.
