  1. Its amazing how four games can change one's outlook on the season. Playoffs will still be a stretch, but I'm confident this team will be playing meaningful baseball well into the summer.
  2. Three walks for Soriano? What is going on?
  3. I'd really like to see our record at Wrigley with the wind blowing out versus other directions.
  4. Its still early, but 14-15 wins and an ERA around 3.80 sounds about right.
  5. To this day I still do not understand what the hell "Mrs. McDavis" meant. As for mine...Hawk is the worst and its not even close.
  6. I don't see why thats necessary in addition to drafting LeFevour. They're obviously displeased with Hanie and Basanez.
  7. I think Colvin will take the place of whichever one of Soriano, Byrd, and Fukudome leave first and ultimately become an everyday OFer. Sometimes it takes a while for the light to come on and although its still too early to say it has, I don't see any reason why he can't be an everyday player and OPS in the .775-.825 range while playing above average defense. His patience at the plate has improved drastically from his days in the minors.
  8. You're forgetting Byrd, who is hitting .338 and OPSing .923.
  9. That was the worst AB from Soriano I've seen in about 3 weeks.
  10. Not sure why people were picking the Brewers to win the division this year. They need to replace every starting pitcher but Gallardo.
  11. We play better at Miller Park than we do at Wrigley. Four-game sweep in 2008, Z's no-hitter, MAYBE a sweep today, etc.
  12. I give the draft a grade of B. I was very surprised by the LeFevour pick but it doesn't bother me that much. Cutler isn't made of steel. If he has to sit out a game or two I rather have just about anyone but Hanie and Basanez. I don't think it will take long for LeFevour to work his way to #2 on the depth chart. And I too love the 7th round pick. I hope we hang onto him.
  13. There might not be a cooler guy in baseball than Ted Lilly. Great to see him back. Also, has anyone seen any Byrd jersey shirts yet? Think I'm going to have to pick me up one.
  14. Jameer Nelson cannot be stopped right now. 19 points at the end of the 1st quarter, 7-7 FG and 4-4 3PT. This after he put up 32 in Game 1. If he gets to the point where he can put up 20-25 consistently in the playoffs, we'll beat the Cavs assuming everyone else does their part.
  15. What just happened? Taking a QB with Carter still on the board?
  16. sounds like a 3-4 end, definitely not a tampa-2 end. Everything I've read says he can fit into any system. Also, most of the mocks I've seen have him going in the second round, third at the latest. I think this is a case of getting the best player left on the board.
  17. Awesome pick. This guy is a monster (6'7 280 lbs) and finished the season nicely last year. This team always seems to pickup a DE each draft regardless of how the position is looking. With Brown gone, this is a good pick. We've seen before that Anderson as a starter didn't work, while Idonije, Melton, and Gilbert are still unknowns at DE. Gilbert is still listed as DT though right?
  18. Oh and not to mention we are also making our offense worse by taking away all of the ABs from our best hitting pitcher.
  19. It doesn't get any worse than this folks. Gorzelanny hasn't done anything to deserve a permanent spot in the rotation. The chances of one of him or Silva not completely falling apart this year is about zero. Hopefully someone is explaining to Ricketts how stupid this kind of move is and he'll end up firing both Lou and Hendry ASAP.
  20. I'm all for this as long as the contract is reasonable and he is used in the bullpen, not the rotation. Sign him and DFA Shark.
  21. Z isn't the problem. The offense has been the problem since the 08 NLDS. Bad offense + bad bullpen = bad team.
