  1. It is 1-0 in the top of the 6th, get a grip. I know it might sound crazy, but I think he's right. It does sound crazy, yes. Come back after the game, please.
  2. As much as the focus has been on Castro and Soler to a lesser extent, Fowler is killing them right now. Dude has to make stuff happen at the top. Right now, he's just bad.
  3. No doubt about that. I think they have scored three or fewer runs in eight of the last 11 games or something close to that. Doesn't leave much room for a defensive or pitching error.

  5. Yeah. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the Cubs scoring one run today, let alone two. I know stuff happens, but on a day when you're going to need multiple hits to score a run, you can't be walking guys.
  6. Anything is possible, but trades like that within the division almost never happen.
  7. Because perhaps our front office could maximize value of that "proven talent", replace his spot on the field with an emerging talent (and replace his spot on the field with a "potential" talent) while getting back a SP that is better than Wada/Wood/EJackson/whomever and then not have to feel cornered into giving out another Lester-like deal. Use that money towards LF or CF and bench/bullpen. Exactly. You kind of want some pitchers who are good and aren't being paid 20 plus million over multiple years. There are only so many of those guys that any payroll is going to be able to support. We have Hammel and Arrieta already who fit that description True. I guess I was thinking a young guy who has six years of control with the upside to be a No. 2. Granted, no lock that they'd get that kind of guy or that'd he'd develop into that.

  9. Yep. Do not like. Man, you're on a rollercoaster of emotions. I liked that we got an off day today, seems like the team is tired. I do not like that the makeup game is our last home game. That can't be that confusing to you. We are screwed if they are tired after just having an off day at home on Thursday. It ain't going to get any easier come the summer.
  10. You'll definitely get a ticket unless you have a guest pass. There used to be permit-free parking near Barry and Racine but I don't know if that's still the case. Dang. Thanks. How far are you willing to walk? When I was younger and more broke I just parked sufficiently far from the park and walked. I know I had to go past Southport, but I can't recall how much further it was. Yeah, I ended up just parking a mile away and walking. Not bad. Now if the game would have just been better. However, I was really pleased by the jumbo tron. I can't believe how normal it feels to have it there.

  12. Sorry for the random question, but I was going to go to the game today and was wondering if you can park in the neighborhood for a 3:05 game?
  13. Yeah, have to wonder if it was wise to waste Baxter so early in the game.
  14. That was set up nice. Just didn't happen. Oh, well. It's a tough game.
  15. If Kris Bryant hits a dong here and the Cubs win, I'll donate $50 to his favorite charity. That's right. I'll pay $50 for a win in May.
  16. Everything feels more possible when Max isn't pitching.
  17. No. I think it had more to do with the money. For real. And the extra year.
  18. I mean he required an additional year and $55 mil more than Lester. The nature of the contract made the numbers look bigger than reality. Once you factor in the huge amount of deferred payments, I think FanGraphs had it as only $10 million or so more than Lester. I forgot he got deferred money, but also a draft pick Is it OK that I throw up in my mouth thinking of the Cubs having $15 million on the payroll to a player 5 years after he retired? Even though it comes out better investment-wise.

Once you factor in the huge amount of deferred payments, I think FanGraphs had it as only $10 million or so more than Lester. I suck at math and I realize why people say this, but it always makes me feel even more like an idiot. I mean, $55 million is $55 million to me even when it's not $55 million.
  20. I mean he required an additional year and $55 mil more than Lester. Along with a draft pick even.
  21. Where is this new Lake? The guy has been terrible coming in to tonight. I will say he does look more patient at the plate. Limited sample size, sure, but if he is more patient it hasn't manifested into anything beyond diddly-squat at this point. His numbers stink and there's no real BABIP outlier. Understood. I am a believer in the process, though. So if he does show better selection at the plate (agreed, way too small a sample size) then better numbers have a chance to be produced. That said, I'm not defending Lake. Just a small observation of his early at-bats.
