  1. Bring in Campana or Johnson to pitch and finish this thing out.
  2. Sveum talked before the game about hoping that Rizzo is in the lineup every day for a long time. I don't think he's going to be looking to get him many days off, unless he looks overmatched or somehow frazzled. I wasn't saying giving him an off day for the sake of an off day. I agree he needs to be out there almost everyday, even if/when he starts to struggle a bit. But what I was getting at is I wonder if he will be allowed to face all lefties or if they will sit him against some, especially good/decent ones. I wouldn't be overly surprised if they sit him against Wandy.
  3. Yep. I never usually watch the second game, but usually its because of the time, or the disinterest in the teams. Now I get another reason. I usually never watch it either. It's usually a shitty matchup like Chiefs v. Raiders and it doesn't get done until like 1 a.m.
  4. Rizzo hit fairly well against lefties in AAA this year, didn't he? I would still suspect he gets at least one day off against one of the lefties we face in the coming days.
  5. It was cool that one year, that one time Wells had good control and a good slider, change, and 2-seamer/sinker. That was fun.
  6. I mentioned this in the Rizzo thread in the Transaction section. MLB Network is airing a game tonight, they usually do a good job of doing live lookins, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they show Rizzo's first ab on there
  7. Longest game thread of the year, with Rizzo's debut tonight?
  8. I would guess that was more on projectability than anything, teams saw a freshman who was solid in the post but had no jumper/offensive game that would need to move to the PF in the league if he were to become a starter/main player on a team. Then he came out this year and really didn't show he got better in the areas he was weak and was a year older. Him getting hurt and missing time didn't help either.
  9. I'm not that surprised by Sullinger not being invited/not being considered a top 15 pick. I don't see his ceiling being more than a Dajuan Blair/Big Baby type. He doesn't have much of offensive game or jumper and is way undersized for the center position and probably to slow to play forward. I basically see him as a decent-good bench player to come in and foul guys hard/take up space/get rebounds for 15-20 minutes a game.
  10. Assuming he doesn't have any major injuries this year/major regression the rest of the way I would be fine with letting him be the opening day starter or at least come up in May/June (to get the extra year of team control) and just let him struggle/figure out ML pitching. As it was noted earlier, he has always needed a half-full season at every level to adjust and be productive. And as a side note, I've always been higher on Vitters than some and am right with Tim on the bandwagon.
  11. I read somewhere that he made a pretty significant change to his batting stance. He's absolutely mashing now and still getting great pitches to hit with Bautista and Encarnacion right behind him. Yeah, I know he has changed something in his stance/mechanics/approach. I know the Cards were pissed at him for always going to his dad for advice and not always listening heeding the advice of their hitting coach. Maybe the Jays just let him deal with his dad as his hitting couch and don't care if he does or doesn't listen to his hitting coach.
  12. MLB Network is scheduled to air a game tonight, Det @ Tex. But they do a good job of bouncing around to other games and showing in game look ins/updates/highlights. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut in for Rizzo's ab.
  13. A few more days of production and he'll have two straight months of over .900 ops. Tough to just call it a hot streak at this point. Doubters! :) you mean cumulatively? his OPS in may was .884 (.284/.333/.550/.884) Yep, cumulatively. He's pretty close after the hr today. Even if he comes up a bit short of .900 for the two months, it'll still be tough to just say he's in a hot streak. do players like him move back into the top 100 after they've fallen out? I would think so, especially given Vitters' age. It might just take a little bit more of an extraordinary year to get more notice again, than just a pretty solid year like Vitters is having.
  14. I'll have what you're drinking/smoking. I don't think you could get 1 guy in the top 80-100 range for him.
  15. Colby Rasmus seems to really have figured it out in Toronto. After an awful start he has a .309/.356/.619/.974 line with 8 home runs over the last 28 days. I really wish we could've figured out a way to trade for him while he was in TLR's doghouse last year.
  16. Toronto is getting to the point where they might have to trade for a guy just for the sake of eating innings and not to take the next step/keep contending. I wonder if they'd be interested in Maholm?
  17. Why should we trade him? Why would he be untouchable? It's not like he'd get us Trevor Bauer, Profar, Machado or anyone of that likeness. He'd net us a prospect who's ceiling is probably around his. He's more valuable keeping on the team moving forward being cost controlled and productive for what he is. His value in a trade is probably as an addition to a Soriano/Dempster/Garza/Dejesus/Barney trade to get us a better prospect/additional one/not have to pay as much of those guys salaries. I still prefer keeping him.
  18. From what I've seen so far it's going to be similar to this years draft, there will probably be a hand full of guys who you could take #1 with no clear front runner.
  19. Like what, obviously his stats are awful but is his velo down? Stuff not moving as much? or personal/off field stuff?
  20. Probably talking about this, http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/8074004/chicago-bulls-derrick-rose-getting-knee-examined-dr-james-andrews He visited Dr. Andrews but not because of complications or anything, just probably to make sure he's rehabbing properly/doing everything he can/should be doing.
  21. Odd swing Quite odd, as the other poster said it doesn't look like he has great bat speed but he certainly appears to have good plate coverage and it looks like he keeps his bat in the zone pretty long.
  22. I don't know about that, we are seeing Jackson doesn't have a great hit tool (at least when it comes to contact) and if k's around 30% at the ML level he's going to have to sustatin a pretty high BABIP to keep a respectable batting average to record a decent OBP even if he does walk a lot because right now it looks like he will be a .220-.240 hittier in the majors with his striking out/contact issues. I think Vitters and Jackson could likely end up with similar OBP's once they get to the majors, they are just going to compile it differently, Vitters will sustain his with a higher BA/more htits and Jackson will sustain his with a higher BB%/lower BA/fewer hits.
  23. No, their ASG was yesterday. Only AAA still has theirs around the big league one. The futures game is still around the MLB ASG, correct? Yep, saw Castro play in it a few years ago when the ASG was in St. Louis. I wish he was still wearing high socks like he did in that game. He still wears the high socks on occasion. He was wearing high socks in one of the more recent games I watched.
  24. Yeah I'm pretty sure a guy can get traded while on the DL, I think the team acquiring the DL'd player just needs to acknowledge that they know the guy is hurt/on DL at the time of the trade.
