  1. If we trade both Dempster and Garza (which is probably better than 50/50 right now) and the return doesn't yield us major league ready/capable starting pitchers, yes I'd take a "flyer" as we'd need someone to fill their spots in the rotation as we don't have anyone that are clear options the minors to step in. He couldn't be worse than Wells or Volstad have been this year and he's been good/decent in the past
  2. I wish/hope we do the same thing with J. Jackson fulltime, if we haven't already
  3. Looks like Antawn Jamison is going to sign a 1 year minimum deal with the Lakers, I think that's a pretty good pick up for them. Considering how bad there bench was last year, he is a definite upgrade and will provide someone who can come in and score. He's a pretty solid guy to have play 25ish minutes a night.
  4. Not to take the thread in a different direction away from Castro, but Adam Jones at 43 is also questionable IMO. He's signed through 2018 and is owed just under $90mm. If the Orioles made him available I think they could get a very good package and some high level prospects. He's also only 26, so he likely will be at peak/plateau prodution through the duration of his contract.
  5. If Dempster got traded to the Red Sox the stories about Dempster being a great clubhouse guy, funny and keeping guys loose and making the clubhouse a less tense atmosphere would be insufferable
  6. Sosa's HR off the camera booth in the NLCS was [expletive] orgasmic
  7. I really like him going there, I think he could take that next step to being a solid 2/3 option on a contender there. He never seemed to find his role in Memphis when they actually could do something the last two years in the playoffs.
  8. Garza is worth one of Castellanos or Turner as the key piece in a trade with Detroit, they get him for a year 1/2 and worst case they get a draft pick if he leaves after next season. He's worth getting one of those guys, if Detriot isn't willing to give one of those two up he isn't getting traded there.
  9. Isn't that the artist formerly known as Leo Nunez?
  10. That and if they bump him back they get to have him and Gallardo pitch in their upcoming series against the Reds, they still think they can/are trying to make a run for the division.
  11. Could be a fluke, maybe he lunges over a bit, could be pitchers know he is one of the better hitters they will be facing so maybe they are trying to throw harder/make their pitches break more and they are losing command because of it, maybe he really hangs in the box a long time and since it's A ball a lot of the breaking stuff he's facing isn't polished/that great/guys are working on it so a lot of stuff that he thinks is going to break more just doesn't. My 2 cents at least.
  12. That's completely my thought. His walk totals have improved during this stretch. I don't know if he's flat out overhauling his hitting approach but if there was a season to experiment and not care how productive he currently is, it's this one. Definitely. Like I said, unless his hitting issues are health-based, I'm not concerned at all. This is a FO looking for the long term, and their dismissal of Jaramillo speaks volumes. Castro is likely always going to be an aggressive hitter because of his hitting ability, but it makes sense that they'd want to see what they can tweak or improve. This is the season to do it. Even if he doesn't have an offensive break out the rest of the year I'll consider it a success with the improved defense and baserunning plus the increased patience. The rest will come. I hope/think that could be the case as well and am completely on board with that thinking on letting him try something in a "lost season" from a team standpoint. Also I wouldn't mind if he gets a day or three off here in the next few weeks to work on things before/after games. It also wouldn't hurt to play Barney at SS a few games before the deadline to showcase that he can play there to teams interested in him.
  13. shhhhhhhh let's talk about those things AFTER he's traded. It's a good thing the Dodgers are a likely taker for him then as I doubt Colleti even looks at those stats when he considers trading for a player, if he even knows what they mean or how to interpret them
  14. http://www.csnchicago.com/sportsnetChicago/thumbnails/Sportsnet_-_Chicago/954/327/ctl_promo_07-28_640x360_2073374036.jpg
  15. Couldn't see much of the swing, but nice to see it was a no-doubter. Are those tie dye uniforms? seriously, what the [expletive] were they wearing? for a split second I thought they had animal pelts around their shoulders or something Closer up they looked much cooler. So they did have animal pelts around their shoulders?
  16. LOL, Seriously?? The Rockets GM might need to dress up as a pizza delivery guy and go to the Knicks headquarters and when the Knicks GM comes to pay him have the offer sheet in the pizza box.
  17. With him and Asik, they may have really screwed themselves in the Howard chase. Did the time frame expire for the Bulls not to match the Rockets offer sheet on Asik?
  18. Looks like the Knicks won't match Lin's offer sheet from the Rockets.
  19. Please pitch well Garza. I'd like to see 7-8IP 2-3ER 6-8h and 8-11K's
  20. Complete guess here, but if they are looking for a 3B prospect maybe they are looking to build a bigger deal to get Upton?
  21. Turner is back and pitching now and has no injury issues since missing the start of the season, right?
