  1. Has it been reported at all that they have tried to get him to change his approach to have more patience/see more pitches? And now he's just entirely messed up. He still has zero patience. He came up right after a walk tonight and I told everyone sitting by me that I'd bet them $20 that he swings at the first pitch. He does, and flies out to CF. So predictable. Like Truffle said, I'm very concerned about his lack of progression this season. That's not exactly true. He just hasn't been hitting so you haven't noticed, but his walk rate is up and his IsoD in that period is .062. That'd lead to a pretty decent OBP if he weren't hitting .197. His BABIP is also down about .040 points compared to 2010-2011 while his LD, GB, and FB % are all right around his career averages.
  2. And he can't strike out like that to stick in the majors. He struck out 33% of the time this year in AAA, that would be 2nd in MLB behind Dunn. You have to figure that number goes up (at 61% first 3 games) now that he's in the majors. He doesn't nearly walk or hit for enough power to make up for such a high k%.

  4. At this rate, if given starts almost every game left, Jackson would finish in the top 10 in K's.
  5. Yes, Vitters! We have 6 games left against the Rockies and 9 against the Astros a top 3 pick is looking good. Rockies up 3 in the 7th right now too, btw.
  6. I would think NFL Network has to replay most pre-season games during the week, just like they do regular season games. Sure it isn't live but I'd rather wait a few days and watch the game free than pay $20 to watch it.
  7. If they have to protect him from Ross [expletive] Ohlendorf who has a 5.05 xFip (Career 4.68) and -.1 WAR this year, Vitters isn't making it in the bigs Also anybody got a link to this game? ;)
  8. I don't if it's the media or the actual bears coaches who continue to pretend like a "run-first" offense can still be at all relevant when it comes to the super bowl. is this purely nostalgia? Bears had 473 passing attempts, vs 456 rushing attempts last year. Is that run-first? Relative to other teams PA to RA ratio across the league, I'd say yes.
  9. Pitching prospects are a finicky thing. I prefer acquiring young position players over pitchers whenever possible when trading guys and acquiring pitching by adding guys who are ML proven (unless we are talking about as close to a can't miss pitching prospect that's in the Strasburg/Prior spectrum).
  10. What did he do, for those of us not able to watch?
  11. Should certainly help our chances of securing a top 3 pick
  12. Probably will be near impossible to make up the 10 games to jump the Astros, but the 5 games in the loss column against the Rockies is possible to overcome, imo. Assuming Shark is going to be shut down soon due to reaching an innings limit (which does anyone know what it is btw?) and Garza's health up in the air it's possible we have a combination Coleman, Rusin, Raley, Germano, Volstad, Wells, and/or Lopez starting every 2-3 days the rest of the season very soon. We still have 6 games against the Rockies and 9 against the Astros, fwiw. We'd probably have to lose like 7-8 of the games against the Astros that are left to have a chance of jumping them. Wells is out for the season with elbow surgery. I didn't know that, but I think the point still remains. The rotation could get really bad, really quick here in the next few weeks. Side note, I don't really like Castro hitting 5th

  14. My votes for Coleman we need a top 3 pick. He all but secures that for us. Also I'm assuming Shark will have a innings limit? What might that be? We are going to need to call someone else up somewhat soon to replace him I'd think.
  15. Beautiful Sunday in socal, the Dodgers are in the thick of contention for a playoff spot, they just added 3 guys (two being fairly high profile guys in Victorino/Hanley) to help them make the final push and the stadium is half full. Fitting.
  16. Dayton and Iowa have switched spots of being the most and least interesting minor league affiliates in a matter of hours
  17. Glad to hear Jackson will start most of the time but not sure why Vitters isn't given the same chance. Didn't Sveum say earlier that if these guys are brought up they need to play everyday? Dumb, just keep Baker in that role then and leave Vitters in AAA

  19. Forgot to post the link, here's the full 30 for 30 schedule with synopsis' of the episodes http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2012/08/espn-films-announces-fall-schedule-for-30-for-30-vol-ii/
  20. I think you have to leave Vittes at 3B for at least another year (he's still young enough) to at least see if he can get better. If he can stick at 3B his bat will have more value than a corner OF. A move to the OF would probably really torpedo his value.
