  1. So it looks like a possible 3-team deal is in the works between the Lakers-Magic-Rockets where Dwight/Richardson go to the Lakers, Bynum goes to the Rockets, and then a combination of a lot of future picks, Rockets draft picks from this year and other guys go to the Magic so they can totally burn down and full on re-build.
  2. Agreed that the likelihood of finding a major impact guy in the range the picks will be is unlikely but it will allow the teams to have a larger draft pool of money to sign guys, no? So with the extra pick they get they could take a guy with their extra pick who will sign for way under slot (college seniors) and then use the savings to draft overslot elsewhere.
  3. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8147253/the-mlb-all-star-game-being-held-kansas-city-where-royals-continue-their-historic-run-futility Good article on Grantland about the Royals minor league system and where they are now, a year and a half later, after they were declared to possibly have the greatest minor league system ever.
  4. Magic apparently are looking at trading Howard to other teams now other than the Nets. Sounds like the 3-4 team deal needs a lot of stuff to happen yet to go through (like 5 guys need to agree to sign and trades). I also take it as maybe the Lakers are jumping in and offering Bynum. Kind of like they did with Nash, wait until you find out all the teams bidding and what they are paying and just when he's about to pick where to go step in with an offer.
  5. He was the first round draft pick..... Deadline to sign him is/was this coming Friday
  6. Our best hitting prospects are probably to young/far away from being ML ready for the D'Backs to do a deal with us. I'd think they would want near ready ML prospects or at least guys who have a better/longer track record in the minors and are at least in AA. Best chance to get him would probably be using guys we get in a Garza and Dempster trade and then add in Baez/Candelario/etc. as the high ceiling low level guy
  7. There's a reason they call them Runs Batted In and not Runs Walked In, Bro
  8. http://www.gifflix.com/files/2e668a0d9406.gif
  9. Jason Terry to the Celtics and Landry Fields to the Raptors
  10. Furcal won the fan vote... Oh, I thought Tulo won.
  11. Either can I, but I don't know if the Lakers will offer him. Probably for a few reasons, they might not get an agreement that any trade for DH has a contingency in it that he must sign a extension for the trade to happen. If he is willing to sign an extension the Lakers probably need to move Gasol to free cap room and/or amnesty Artest (doubt they can find a trade where they get salary relief for him). Also who knows if Kobe will be on board with wanting Bynum/Gasol out for Howard. Dwight and Kobe don't exactly seem like personalitites that would co-exist well.
  12. Is there anyway Castro can start with Tulo on the DL? Or will it be Furcal?
  13. I am completely fine with making Rizzo a player-manager right now and telling Sveum to [expletive] off after reading that. Seriously he's the guy who calls the shifts or at the very least is aware of the shift that was on, he had to see Rizzo was late and the fact he tried to blame it on Starlin is B.S.
  14. What about the Pirates? They are in contention again and the division is even weaker this year. We won't get Cole or Tallion but what about a package of Heredia/McPherson/Sanchez for Garza and Dejesus? Too much? Too little?
  15. Drop Justin Upton Add Josh Hamilton
  16. Soriano is a better player than Lee, imo. But Lee can "play" 1B and also has less $ on his contract so he probably has a little more value, but just from an offensive point, Soriano is better
  17. If Theo and Jed hurry they might be able to trade him Barney and Lahair and Ned will cover lifetime contracts to Garza, Rizzo and Castro to stay on the Cubs along with giving Almora a $10m signing bonus.
  18. If the Brewers were to go into full on sell mode they might be able to get a real solid package from the Dodgers for Greinke and Ramirez. As it seems they have no problem spending/taking on money and have a clear need for a bat and 3B is a black hole for them.
  19. How big is Torreyes, and how big is he expected to get? What position do most see him ending up at (I know he's only 19 and it's still a guessing game at this point)? Torreyes is a little guy, 5-9 at the most. He's a 2B now and a 2B he will stay. And supposedly weighs 140. Oof, that's really little. Thanks for the info, guys.
  20. MLB network saddles the fourth guy to do it twice in one month. That cant be right, can it? I'm watching the Brewers broadcast and they said its the first guy to do it twice in a Season since the 30's. It's gotta be the first time in the modern era. Yeah, i'd say at most only 4 guys hit for the cycle in a year. So to have the same guy do it twice in a year, 4 times, seems really crazy. So they must be counting more than modern era for that.
  21. Anyone who is acclimated to professional baseball hits a HR there, minimum @thekapman
  22. How big is Torreyes, and how big is he expected to get? What position do most see him ending up at (I know he's only 19 and it's still a guessing game at this point)?
  23. rotoworld is saying dodgers are looking to deal gould and lee to astros for lowrie, i think i would be fine with giving them dempster and barney for those 2, question is would they do it? Probably going to have to throw in Lahair as well to sweeten the deal :good:
