  1. I'm not sure I've watched a game start to end in 5 years at this point.
  2. Where does McCarthy go now? Obviously can't go back to Dallas.
  3. There are scenarios in which adding a bench guy like Bader makes sense, but given how horrifically awful the bat benches are, he just doesn't for this team. I'm not sure there's a single current bench player who even sniffs a .700 OPS.
  4. Yeah, there is about zero chance Jeanty gets past Dallas, it's about the worst held secret in the draft.
  5. He's not good. On a bench filled with guys who cannot hit, adding another guy who is all glove no bat wastes a roster spot and payroll.
  6. Well as of now, the bare minimum of things to address between the draft and FA are one edge, one DL run stopper, one left tackle and one right tackle or center. Further down the list is Safety, maybe a RB and perhaps a WR.
  7. Pretty happy about this. Now go out and grab one of Allen or Saleh as your DC and I'm thrilled until draft time.
  8. I'm not exactly going to sweat 2 really good players signed below market value.
  9. They finally got someone to take their money.
  10. I can't wait till we find out that Ben Johnson wanted the Chicago job, but the interest wasn't reciprocal and Chicago had already decided on McCarthy. Just a little extra kick in the nuts that Chicago sports likes to provide us every couple weeks.
  11. But you could do that for Robertson. Get a better reliever and on a shorter deal.
  12. Counterpoint, can we just pay a guy who is actually just good and they don't have to develop?
  13. Which would be quite disappointing from your closer
  14. Flip Yates and Robertson and I think that's more or less where I am and even the Yates/Robertson thing I could be talked out of it.
  15. This would be such a Cub move. They don't pony up for the elite rp, but they'll give a multi year deal to a guy who was mediocre 3 of the last 4 years rather than just sign Robertson to a 1 year deal.
  16. On deep balls sure. I'm also about 99% positive he was instructed not to risk the ball at all which is why he constantly overthrew all the deep balls.
  17. Thoroughly enjoying that the Cubs are not going to flex their financial muscle and they're also not going to get all the extra picks and international cap space the "small" markets do. The worst of both worlds.
  18. Well Jed tried really hard, so there's that at least.
  19. I'd be surprised if he has a panel. He dodged it the last couple years.
  20. At this point I'd be surprised if it's anyone of that tier.
  21. The convention where fans chanted Mancini's name tells you all you need to know about your average convention attendee.
  22. Trace Armstrong more or less runs the Bears
  23. It is going to be painful that perhaps 3 guys the Cubs traded are all ranked higher than the highest ranked Cub prospect come the midseason report.
  24. So obviously every RB benefits from a good OL, but Swift is a guy who would benefit even more because all he does is look to hit the homerun. He never just takes the 1 or 2 yards that are there. He causes an absurd amount of 2nd and 10+ scenarios. I'd love to dump him if they could without much of a cap hit.
