  1. I just don't see how Alonso could work? Seiya is a better hitter, Busch is far cheaper and was more valuable last year. Where would Alonso even go and be an upgrade?
  2. The only hope the Cubs ever had was if Bregman was doing to take like a 3 year deal with opt outs after year 1 and 2. I'd be shocked if the Cubs went any further than that.
  3. Which makes it all the crazier that less than 10 years later, a man that was adored by this city has become hated. It's damn near impossible to waste that much good will in such a short amount of time.
  4. What would the Met equivalent to Shaw be? Sproat? Only Shaw is ready to step in day one and has a longer and more consistent history of dominating at every level. I can't imagine Jett Williams would be the headliner and I can't imagine they'd even consider trading Vientos.
  5. Yeah, this is 2 guys who both appear on at least some top 100 lists, an MLB starter with mid rotation upside and an MLB ready bench bat for 1 year of cease? Hard pass.
  6. He might get a highly touted prospect but it's not going to be an MLB ready top 30 prospect and then more on top of that. If he's getting a top 50 guy it's going to be someone a year or two from the bigs. It's not going to be someone who is immediately able to step into the lineup as a first division starter.
  7. Yeah I'm on the opposite side of this. I'd much prefer dangle Caissie before Alcantara.
  8. But it's not an article for the masses, it's an article for us, which makes it a bit weird. If we're addressing the meathead common fan opinion then they could write a million different hot take articles which would make NSBB completely intolerable.
  9. This is a weird take. I think most of us have already accepted that he's destined for the pen and that being a long term starter is the overwhelmingly most unlikely scenario.
  10. Estevez goes to KC, contract details pending.
  11. Still not seeing the appeal of Stanek. Who in the current bullpen is he better than?
  12. So Brady, Kingsbury and now McCarthy have all removed themselves from consideration of the Saint's job. Who is left?
  13. Stanek does nothing for me. Outside of 2022 he has been mediocre to bad. Robertson is the obvious option.
  14. That list has so many Cubs having way below average years. Apparently Seiya is going to have the worst year of his career. Tucker his worst year since 2020, PCA will put up the same value in 50% more ABs, Happ will have his worst year since 2021, Dansby his worst year since 2021, etc. etc. Fantastic projection system when it has everyone getting worse, some significantly.
  15. Surprised it was Vazquez. Not that I had much for expectations but I could have seen him be a multi position guy who can OPS 675ish, maybe even .700.
  16. Look, I'd absolutely love to add King, but you just cannot trade for both Tucker and King if you're not resigning at least one of them. That is just a huge waste of assets betting it all on 2025.
  17. Brown's future as a starter is more unlikely than likely at this point and Horton needs to hit 100 innings in a season before I'm ready to pencil him in as a starter.
  18. I take the mid rotation arm. The Cubs have some very exciting arms that could fill pen spots like Brown and Neely. I don't think they have any mid rotation arms that are immediately ready to step in.
  19. Add Robertson and the pen is filthy. I still hate the bench and really wish there was an addition of a more reliable mid rotation arm than Boyd. With that said, they go out and grab Robertson then add a legit bench bat, then I'm on board. That's a 90 win team.
  20. Frankly I thought Pressly was going to require the Cubs to add another year to waive his NTC. Happy that didn't happen.
  21. Still a still a good SP or good reliever/bench bat from me feeling really good about things.
  22. There was a game earlier this year where i checked the box score and the teams combined for something stupid like 110 3 pointers attempted. That's absurdly boring to watch.
  23. On the high end this should be no more than like Canario.
