  1. Red Sox making Yoshida available is a bit interesting to me. I'm not interested in him at 4/72, but if Boston ate some cash he'd have some appeal as a lefty hitter the Cubs badly need. The coaches would have to get him to start elevating ball because a 54.6 GB% is way way too high unless you have 70 grade speed.
  2. The margin for error continues to shrink.
  3. The same JT O'Sullivan who laughs every time he calls Moore a WR #1. I watched the first 45 minutes and it's so ridiculously nitpicked, plus he clearly didn't watch the actual game because he got several things completely wrong.
  4. Young people care about the games. All of us old folk care about free agency and the draft, which the vast majority of young kids couldn't care the slightest about.
  5. There is already talk that Jayden Daniels is going top 5 and could leap both Maye and Williams. Unrelated, but with Amarius Mims declaring, my God is the draft loaded at tackle.
  6. From a fan perspective, not even a Cub fan perspective, this offseason has been awful. My 2 favorite times of the year are mid December to mid January because of free agency and the MLB Draft. This free agency has been the least enjoyable in my memory. We're about a week into January, 75% of the FA are still there, and we're hearing the same recycled things from writers for the last month without any new information. It has gotten to the point where even when the Cubs eventually do something, I'm just not going to particularly care.
  7. the only scenario I am 100% against is keeping Fields then using a day 1 or 2 pick on a QB
  8. Montez Sweat and Jaylon Johnson make the pro bowl. I'd expect Moore and Edwards to be backups.
  9. I know this, but it's also spreading out the risk. I also think it's incredibly safe to say MHJ or Nabers is a significant upgrade over Mooney and while a QB upgrade is worth more than a WR upgrade, that's why there's 3 more potential upgrades besides this.
  10. I'd rather throw 4 darts than 1. The QB can't be just a little better than Fields, they need to be significantly better to justify losing all those potential upgrades.
  11. Cam Ward is headed to the 2024 draft.
  12. If the rumored package is correct, you absolutely are. 2 1sts, a day 2 pick in '24 and a veteran on a good contract. Someone said 2 firsts in excess of '24 first, but I'd have a hard time believing that.
  13. Tommy, you might have to nudge Jed awake if you want that wish list to have any chance of coming to fruition.
  14. I'd rather upgrade 4 or 5 other positions, then have to rely on Williams being a significant upgrade over Fields.
  15. I don't think them taking a QB is the most likely scenario. It's not so much that Poles is infatuated with Fields, but that I think he's probably ok with Fields and would love the haul he can get for 1.1.
  16. Assuming the Bears trade the #1. The Bears would have 2 1sts in '25 and at least 2 2nds. They have enough draft capital to trade up for whatever QB they want if it became necessary. It's likely no one is as hyped as Williams, but I think that's an easy risk to take if the going price for '24 1.1 is anywhere near the rumors.
  17. I've seen as much as 2 firsts, a day 2 pick and a good player on a good contract suggested as a return for the Bears while they stay in the top 5. That's pretty crazy. Imagine a deal at #3 with NE where the Bears get 1.3, '24 2nd, '25 1st and Christian Barmore. You'd still get MHJ at #3. You get to take Dallas Turner at 10 and between him and Barmore suddenly your dline is very good and paired with a very good secondary. Then use the 2nd on bpa and you still have 2 firsts next year to further improve the team or consolidate them to trade up for a new QB.
  18. We'll know a lot more on the 18th.
  19. I think the Giants are taking a QB if any of Williams/Maye/Daniels are there. Apparently Daniel Jones has a clause in his contract that after year 2 of his deal, they can basically get rid of him with almost no impact.
  20. If the rumored situation is true, then the DA bringing rape charges is an absolute joke. With that said, I find it highly suspicious that such a low followed twitter user would have this information unless they knew someone directly involved. I only mention it because it has picked up some traction in the Illinois community.
  21. If he hits 40 bombs and is adequate at 3B, he's going to put up like a 5 fwar season. I have extreme doubts about that.
  22. Most mocks I've seen have Maye/Williams in the top 3, Daniels in the 4-8 range and McCarthy in the 10-20 range. 2 months ago, Penix was always in the 20 range, but I've noticed him slideto the very late 1st and early 2nd a lot recently. Bo Nix is where I see the most variation. I've seen him around 15 and I've seen him mid 2nd round.
  23. There is 3 big needs, WR, C, Edge Rusher. WR and Edge can be addressed with the 2 firsts. Since it sure seems like things are trending toward them keeping Fields, I wonder if they do what everyone thinks and just trade down to like #3 so they can take MHJ or if they trade further back for a more significant haul and instead grab Malik Nabers.
