  1. Just another in the line of injuries suffered while being stupid. The one I remember most was Mike Harkey tearing up his knee and essentially ruining his career because he thought he was Ozzie Smith and tried to do a cartwheel.
  2. I'll be watching Chuck's pitching starts closely this week. Hopefully he'll exceed the limit and have to forfeit the points for Garza's no-hitter.
  3. He faced the minimum 27 batters (1 walk, erased on a double-play). First no-no in Tampa Bay history.
  4. Cubs.com is reporting that it is "probable" that Vitters will miss the rest of the season.
  5. At the opposite end of the spectrum, this is the last week for determining the draft order. Bazingas are currently a half game ahead of Quakers for the #1 pick. I'm locked into #3 regardless of how I do this week.
  6. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/23/AR2010072305193.html This news is a few days old, but I haven't seen it mentioned here. It seems newsworthy because it completes a death trilogy of Yankee legends following Bob Shepard and George Steinbrenner.
  7. Also, if it needs to be done I can determine and post the draft order. Just one question: In the case of a tie based on won-loss record does the higher pick go to the team with the fewer total points as of that date, or is there a different tie-breaker?
  8. Is Chuck the one that logs into NSBB under the name BSquared? Chuck is cbbryan. You have both my sympathies for the loss of your grandfather and my confidence as permanent Commissioner.
  9. Follow-up: Chuck has been logged into 312 Sports, as recently as today.
  10. I don't know what's going on, but Chuck hasn't been logged into NSBB in over a month.
  11. For all practical purposes that means the draft order will be known at the end of this week. Since July 31 is a Saturday next week's matches won't have been completed in time to affect the draft order.
  12. I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I may be in contention for the worst weekly score in Roadkill history if my pitchers continue their collective suckfest. Four days into the week and I have less than 20 points.
  13. If only I had reinstated and activated him for Saturday instead of waiting till this week I would have won instead of tied. And this week when I do have him active he puts up a negative start.
  14. Baseball Reference shows it as the former too, as does MiLB.com, so I'm sure that's it.
  15. I did read that he said it was not due to any health concerns (either his or his family's).
  16. IL beat PCL 2-1 in the AAA All-Star Game, but it was a good night for the Iowa Cubs who were participating. Barney went 1-2 and drove in the PCL's only run, and Diamond pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings to start the game (2 BB, 2 K).
  17. If they sign Prior they'll need to increase their towel budget.
  18. He's got some weird ties to Indiana. I think he went to Culver Military Academy. He also has some ties to Columbus OH, that's why the Clippers were the AAA team for so long. Yes, he did go to Culver. That's who was playing my school when he came to the game. I had forgotten the name until you mentioned it.
  19. When I was in high school in Wabash, Indiana (1976--78) Steinbrenner attended a high school football game at Wabash. One of his relatives (I don't remember if it was a son, nephew, or grandson) played for the opposing team.

    Week 15

Yes. An average of one start per day, which is the same rate as 7 starts in a normal week.
  21. That was GTZaskar. His "brother" posted that he had died, then later he posted and confessed that he was alive and was conducting a research experiment for grad school.
  22. Bob Sheppard, legendary Yankees' PA announcer, http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5371001has died at 99 He was the Yankees' PA announcer from 1951 to late 2007. Derek Jeter has a recording of Sheppard's introduction of him played before each of his at-bats and has said he'll continue to do so.
  23. They've probably left for Anaheim since they're playing in the Futures Game tomorrow.
  24. Rawaction and Vanilla Ice tie on the tie-breaker. They are 6 days off on the date of Lou's first ejection by guessing July 4. Soccer10k was just barely behind, 7 days off by guessiong July 17.
  25. Because Lou was tossed for arguing balls and strikes.
