  1. I'm not sure Liriano is that much of a surprise since he appeared to be well on his way to stardom before having TJS. I think it was just a matter of time until he completed his comeback.
  2. Silva has been released from the hospital. He will be examined by a cardiologist when he returns to Chicago and it seems likely that his next start will be skipped with the off-day on Thursday.
  3. Interesting that there were two 2-way ties and two 4-way ties. Points were very significant.
  4. Based on worst record, with fewest points to break ties. 1. Bazingas (4-13) 2. Quakers (4-12-1) 3. NC Cubs (5-11-1) 4. Habitual Linesteppers (7-10; 4200.5 points) 5. Sock It Thome (7-10; 4254.2 points) 6. Mighty D-Block (8-9; 4293.2 points) 7. Tootielicious (8-9; 4328.5 points) 8. Saber Metrics (8-9; 4365 points) 9. The Eyes of Texas (8-9; 4482.5 points) 10. Harrys Budcrew (10-7; 4275 points) 11. Fuzzy Logistics (10-7; 4723.8 points) 12. Ron Washington's Dealers (11-6; 4366.8 points) 13. Kid Rodelo (11-6; 4400.2 points) 14. Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (11-6; 4657.5 points) 15. Northside Baseball (11-6; 4902.8 points) 16. Alamo Stealth (12-5) Still five weeks remaining in the Bryce Harper Sweepstakes. It would probably be a good idea for somebody else to look at the standings on Roadkill and make sure I didn't misread something.
  5. Between that and DeWitt's performance today (especially considering that he wasn't even going to start) I'd say early returns from the trade are favorable.
  6. Lefty going today. Hope he's in there anyway but I wouldn't be surprised if it's Baker. Originally that was going to be the case until Trammel decided to give Ramirez the day off and shifted Baker to 3B. And DeWitt so far has been about the only bright spot for the Cubs.
  7. Considering that he now has three short outings in his last four starts I think he should at least be skipped over one start even if he says he's OK. With an off day on Thursday they could simply skip his turn in the rotation and keep everybody else on normal rest.
  8. Day 1 of the Blake DeWitt era. Let the excitement begin.
  9. Personally, I think if there would be any realignment it would come along with adding two expansion teams to have two 16-team leagues. If they don't want to put both expansion teams in the L I could see one team being shifted from the NL to the AL and adding one expansion team to each league. I think any real realignment would come within the leagues rather than between (maybe similar to when the NFL went to 32 teams).
  10. Salty to Red Sox just reported on MLB Network too.
  11. Bruce Miles thinks that is why Diamond was pulled early from his start a couple days ago.
  12. For James McDonald and PTBNL, as just reported on MLB Network.
  13. MLB Network is reporting that Wood to the Yankees is a done deal.
  14. First of three games to be managed by Trammell while Lou is in Florida for his uncle's funeral.
  15. Arizona trades RP Chad Qualls to Tampa Bay for PTBNL. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5426004
  16. I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but Lou will miss the next three games to travel to Florida for his uncle's funeral. Alan Trammel will be acting manager and Matt Sinatro will serve as bench coach.
  17. Wait why would Arizona do that? They wouldn't do it straight up. There has to be more involved if there's any truth to the rumor at all.
  18. I can't imagine Arizona trading Johnson for Theriot straight up. There has to be more involved.
  19. Apparently it was also the highest scoring inning in Rockies' history. That surprised me a bit; playing in Coors Field I would have thought they would have had a few gigantic innings, especially in the days of Larry Walker, Dante Bichette, etc.
  20. Cashner has put up a hefty -53.5 for D-Block this week. That has to be one of the worst scores for a player in one week.
  21. Yep, for the ever-popular PTBNL.
  22. The guy who couldn't even come up with a team to guess is far more embarrassing. True. I didn't know the answer but guessed right. I was almost positive what the answer was and I was right. Other than the fact that the lady guessed a nonexistent team, and that the real team in that city isn't in the NFC, she had a good guess. Her best move was betting so little.
