  1. It's people like you that make me question the state of the world. In all honesty, I'm not worried about Tech very much, or Michigan. I'm worried about Penn State since it falls in between those two games and since, on paper anyway, they are the weakest of the three teams, but are still very good. And I am worried about MSU because they seem to acquire special powers against ND. As for BSU, anything less than a two-TD win is unacceptable. EMU is a very weak team. Nate Davis, rated the #1 recruit in the MAC this year as a QB, will play according to coach Brady Hoke, though it's unclear how much (Joey Lynch is still the starter). Hoke was on the team (defense, but I forget specifically which position) during my freshman year, when they went undefeated in the MAC and 10-1 overall. His brother, Jon Hoke, was also on the team. They had at least one other set of brothers (Archie and Ken Currin) on that team. Archie was the starting tailback; I believe Ken was primarily a kick or punt returner.
  2. You're right; there are. I think I misread a few of the posts before. More than half the people who signed up have already submitted their picks for Week 1, though, so it would probably be unfair to change it now. If enough people are interested in point spreads there's no reason somebody else shouldn't start a league based on point spreads.
  3. Good very good. As for this thread, wouldnt it be better to look at the race this way? Team L-W Pct GA Streak L10 --------------------------------------------------- Kansas City 85-47 .644 -- Lost 1 4-6 Pittsburgh 81-50 .618 3.5 Lost 3 4-6 Tampa Bay 79-52 .603 5.5 Lost 4 4-6 Chicago Cubs 76-54 .585 8 Lost 3 2-8 Washington 75-55 .577 9 Lost 2 2-8 It would look even better the way I arranged it. :D
  4. Buck Coats serves no purpose on this team. There's no reason to avoid sending him back down. Likewise, the Mabry/Nevin combo could be traded. True; I'd forgotten that Coats was even on the team.
  5. What if activating him means Rusch is sent packing when waiting until the 1st could mean he's still with us for another season? Good point; I hadn't thought of that. [/wishful thinking]

I think that was a bit of a fluke year. Steve Smith was injured that year, so Moose was Carolina's number 1 receiver by default. With all the injuries they had at running back (at one time they were down to something like their 5th string RB because the others were injured) they really had no choice but to make him their go-to guy.
  7. According to cubs.com, Lee may be activated for tonight's game. Personally I think it would make more sense to wait just a few more days until rosters expand so they don't have to make a roster move, but that's just me.
  8. If the Cubs can continue to "gain" on the other teams at the rate of two games every ten days they would move up to second place. With as many games as there are against Pittsburgh they largely control their own Dustiny. :D
  9. Aww, poor Dusty doesn't feel wanted.
  10. What Dusty is really thinking: "I'm probably not going to be back next year, so why should I suffer by giving playing time to the youngsters who will be back? It isn't my problem."
  11. I don't know if that was Tim, but he's been a big fan of Webb for some time.
  12. There's only one person who posts on this board that I think would possibly know the answer to this question. *Sends out Bruce signal*
  13. That's not stupid; that's common sense. I think all head-to-head leagues require an even number of teams so nobody has a bye in a given week. I know Yahoo does. Its called a BYE week. The NFL gets away with it pretty well. True, but I've never heard of it in fantasy sports.
  14. Opinion seems to be mixed about the college contest; there isn't a clear-cut consensus either way. Since there isn't a strong consensus to change I'll leave it like it is (straight picks), but point out that there's no reason somebody else can't start a league based on point spreads (there's no law that says I'm the only person allowed to start leagues for these contests, or that somebody can only be in one such league :D ). If somebody else does start a league based on point spreads I'd probably join that one as well to double my chances. Also, Survival Football is now available for sign-up on Yahoo. If nobody else starts a league in the next several days I'll start one. I'm giving others a chance to do it first.
  15. To make room for Walrond on the 25-man roster the Cubs optioned Ryu back to Iowa. To make room on the 40-man they transferred Wood to the 60-day DL. Linky
  16. Or it means he's having a flukish hot streak, much like Neifi had at the start of the 2005 season. Problem is that Neifi didn't have a career .300 avg and .350 OBP. Funny how everyone just assumes that Pierre is going to suck for the rest of his time in baseball. There is no reason Pierre can't return to his career avg. in OBP or BA. In Pierre's defense, he had a horrible start as a Cub. I'm not assuming that he can't return to his career norm; I'm just saying that his current hot streak proves that he is. We simply don't know one way or the other.

  18.
  19. Cubs have no need for Howard (and Ryan can't play anywhere else but 1st) with Lee on the team, so I would say CHASE UTLEY or bust.... I wasn't sure if Howard would be able to move to the outfield or not; that was my thinking. I'd still happily take Utley, though, or even Rollins. Of course, there's a zero percent chance of the Phillies actually trading any of those players for Pierre.
  20. And my team seems to have been arrested by the sheriff.
  21. I'd trade him to the Phillies for Howard and Hamels. :D
  22. I'm one of those. That reminds me of the old Dynastics vs. Nowacrats debate. Like many people, I thought the Cubs were on the road to being contenders for the long haul (like the Braves, although not necessarily to that extent). Now I want them to get one championship quickly, then worry about the long-term dynasty after that. If it means going for broke next year, then another rebuilding program to achieve long-term success afterwards, so be it. 2008 is nearly here, and I consider going more than a century without a championship to be intolerable.
  23. If it weren't for the late season injury to Flash Gordon I think they would have likely made the playoffs that year.
  24. In other words, assuming Dusty leaves at the end of the year before he has a chance to work his magic and ruin Hill.
