  1. He's not my choice, but I think there's plenty of justification for being nominated. He's come on after a slow start, and considering he's still very young and he's only had about half a season above class A before this year (due to his injury last year) I think his slow start this year shouldn't be a surprise. I still think he needs at least another half year at AAA next year before he's ready for the majors.
  2. I voted for Gallagher, with Veal a close second. Both players started at one level, then continued to succeed after being promoted to a higher level. My vote for Gallagher is that, other things being equal, I give preference to a player who has shown some success at the AA level or higher.
  3. A poll will be set up. I think Raisin is going to do that later today.
  4. Where's your standard disclaimer about taking the Mesa starter with a grain of salt? :D
  5. I wonder if his glove is hitting better than that. :D
  6. I don't recall reading anything about that. It might be during the normal free agency filing period, which starts shortly after the end of the World Series.
  7. Only if we can also recall Dusty and Hendry. :D
  8. The Redskins just traded for T.J. Duckett from Atlanta, so the concern about Portis' shoulder is probably legitimate.
  9. Carolina beat Tennessee again. Huntsville is now in first place, one half game ahead of Tennessee. Chattanooga is 2.5 games back, and the Jaxx are 3.5 back.
  10. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: If abusing pitchers is what qualifies a manager for the Hall, then maybe.
  11. Yes. Back in the 70s Bowie Kuhn voided the sale of a couple of the A's stars when Charlie Finley was gutting the team.
  12. Not true. The all-important issue of who gets the number one draft pick (currently a 3-way tie) is still very much up in the air. :D
  13. I thought calling O'Malley up eliminated the open spot (since he wasn't on the 40-man), unless there were two spots previously open. If it is full, however, they could open a spot by transferring Wood to the 60-day DL. Wouldn't the Neifi trade open that spot back up again though? I think that's the spot that Coats took. D'oh; how could I have forgotten that so soon?
  14. Haven't taken a math class since spring 2005, and I'm damn proud of it. :) So it's been three years since you've taken math.

  16. Rusch doesn't have a spot in the rotation. Right now it's Zambrano, Hill, O'Malley, Guzman, and Mateo (I didn't try to list them in order). If he does come up before rosters expand I'd think it would be for O'Malley.
  17. Hopefully he'd get along better with the Cubs' new manager than he does with Gibbons. :D
  18. I also just noticed it for "Wrigley Field" as well as several players in a thread in Transactions.
  19. Just from your post, its doing it for both "Cubs" and "football."
  20. In the Bill Mallory era they went to bowl games almost every year for awhile, and was even ranked at year-end a few years. One year they were in Rose Bowl contention late in the season before losing to Michigan State.
  21. I'm hoping that Hendry will finally show the brains NOT to count on him, then when he isn't being counted on he finally stays healthy and lives up to his promise. Reverse psychology. :D
  22. I've been hoping Rusch sucks whenever he comes into a game, to increase the chances of relegating him to mop-up duty. Now I have a reason to actually root for him to do well. :D
  23. http://www.speakeasy.org/~bucky/elia_tirade.html
  24. There is no 25-man roster in the off-season. In fact, there isn't beginning Sept. 1. From then until Opening Day there's only the 40-man.
