    Wasn't this the same guy that after he was dealt to the Cubs, said he prefer the NL style of ball over the AL? So, isn't kind of odd that he would initiate a trade to an AL team? Wants to play for a contender + no NL contenders have an opening at 1B = Nevin taking what he can get. Plus Nevin really being a DH and the NL not having the DH.

    will not see much time, if Baker has anything to say about it. So, figure on seeing "The Superstar" Henry Blanco for a MAJORITY of the time, cause dude, he's "earn it." Soto HAS to get significant time. The Cubs already know what Blanco can do. They need to get an extended look at Soto to get a feel for whether they can count on him to be the backup catcher next year. Now, time for me to go torture myself as punishment for having the nerve to suggest that the Cubs actually use logic. :D

    Barrett's injury hurts me in another league, since he's my starting catcher. Not what I need going into the playoffs (yes, I actually do make the playoffs in some leagues :D ).

    My guess is that's it for Barrett this year. Since rosters have expanded, there would be no need to put him on the DL if there were a chance of his returning. :(

    Yes, Aug. 31 was the last day. But this thread is talking about pitching in a rehabilitation sense, not in an actual game.

    The blaming Hendry wouldn't be for giving him the out clause in the first place, but rather for not trading and getting someone for him if he were going to leave anyway. Many of us (myself included) were against trading him, but that was contingent on his returning next year. When you're not in contention, if you don't trade an upcoming free agent you've basically comitted yourself to re-signing him. I don't think people would blame Hendry that much for losing Ramirez if that were the only problem he's had; I think it's more like that would be the straw that broke the camel's back when you look at it on top of his other bad moves over the past couple of years. He's more than used up any tolerance for mistakes and simply cannot afford even one more. Think of it as a lifetime achievement award as opposed to an award for one specific performance. :D

    The most important final of all: Ball State 38, Leastern Michigan 20. Duke may be the worst team in Div. 1-A this year. They got shut out by a 1-AA team (Richmond). Humiliating. I don't think Steve Spurrier will be voting for them in the next poll. :D

    Since you appear to have a time machine I suggest you go back a little further and get Vlad. Why not go all the way back to the 2002 season and hire someone other than Hendry as GM? :D

    It came up and shows time running, but I get nothing (not even static). I thought the problems were supposed to be over when the station installed a new server or something like that. I wonder what they're lame excuse is this time. On second thought, it's probably better that I don't know. I wouldn't buy it anyway, and it would probably just make me madder.

    One more piece of the Southern League puzzle has fallen into place. I read a brief blurb in my local newspaper today that Milwaukee extended its agreement with Huntsville through 2008.

    Daytona is the only one I can think of, and I'm not sure if he did or not. Until last year he won the championship at every level he's been at (last year his team made the playoffs, although he didn't play because of his injury, but they lost the championship series). Daytona wound up as co-champions when he played there two years ago; the championship series was cancelled because of a hurricane (I believe the same hurricane that resulted in the postponement of the entire series when the Cubs were supposed to play in Miami).

    I think the sniping can stop. The important thing, as I see it, is that most people seem to believe in Hill now. What they thought three months ago isn't really important.
