  1. All of the contenders lost today, so all that changed is another game off the schedule.
  2. Not a chance. He gawn.
  3. Surely you're not saying to DFA Barrett and Hill. :?
  4. Ahh. I didn't see that movie, so I didn't get the reference.
  5. Ronny Cedeno is now the #1 ranked Hacking Mass player with exactly 100 ESPN.
  6. I think the handwriting is so much on the wall now that I'd be totally shocked if Dusty returns. I wouldn't have said that two months ago.If it was any team not named the Cubs I would agree. Somehow they always manage do do the wrong thing. It isn't just the Cubs' decision, however. Even if they stupidly want him back, that doesn't mean Dusty wants to return. I, along with several other posters, think that he may choose to look elsewhere regardless of what Hendry decides.
  7. Who's this "Harry" guy you keep referring to? You've mentioned him in at least three different threads.
  8. Pretty good day for the MAC, with Ball State losing to a Big 10 team by only 1, Miami taking another Big 10 team (Purdue) to OT before losing, and Akron beating an ACC team (NC State).
  9. The Cubs have shaved the deficit from 4.5 games to 2.5 in two days and moved into second place. Well done.
  10. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ First time I'd be happy about an IU loss. :D
  11. I think the handwriting is so much on the wall now that I'd be totally shocked if Dusty returns. I wouldn't have said that two months ago.
  12. Smith was my first round pick in one of my fantasy teams. Roethlisberger is my starting quarterback for the same team. Not a good start when two of your primary offensive weapons miss the very first game of the season. :( Interestingly, both starting tight ends for the Colts-Giants matchup (Shockey for the Giants and Clark for the Colts) have missed some practice time this week and are both on their teams' injury reports. Both are listed as probable (although Clark was questionable until a day ago).
  13. The local Raleigh, NC station that I normally watch news on has a weekly Pigskin Picks for games involving ACC teams. The picks involve the four sports reporters and one of the news anchors (with a different news anchor participating each year). Last week the news anchor went 5-0, beating all of the sports staff, by picking a couple of upsets (such as Duke losing to a 1-AA team). This week she was the only one in the contest who picked Akron to beat NC State.
  14. I heard Ditka's performance (and it was pitiful), but I didn't hear Danica, so I don't have a basis to vote. Of course, that doesn't always stop people from voting anyway. :D
  15. Send them to the Bates Motel. :D (I just watched Psycho last night.)
  16. Selective amnesia. He's remembering the times when he regularly made the playoffs with the Giants, conveniently forgetting that he's made the playoffs one year out of four with the Cubs.
  17. Remember when they said he'd be ready by mid-May?............. Hey at least we got him for the stretch run We're 3.5 games behind Kansas City. Miller can help make up ground. :D
  18. As a result, all the contenders gain a game on KC tonight. Cubs are within 3.5 games.
  19. fixed... Fixed again. :D
  20. He took the "k" from her last name and moved it to her first name. :D
  21. Hendry won't be fired this year, but if they don't show major improvement next year they might eat the second year of his extension and fire him after next year. MacPhail should be fired for giving Hendry the extension in the first place. But the Cubs will probably fix things by doing something like firing the assistant ticket manager.
  22. 1972, to be exact. The last was Milt Pappas' should-have-been perfect game late in the season (Burt Hooton had one early the same year). Four no-hitters between 1969 and 1972 (2 by Ken Holtzman in addition to Hooton and Pappas), none since. On the brighter side, the Cubs haven't been the victim of a no-no since Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965.
  23. Actually, the Cubs have pulled into a 2nd place tie with Tampa Bay since they were off today.
  24. Good day all around. Both minor league teams win, and the Cubs move into a tie for 2nd place in the draft race. :D
