  1. Don't: Drop Pena, even though he sucks, because I've already had to use both of my first half transactions due to injuries. Do: Curse myself for having misplaced faith in Pena.
  2. I know in the past you haven't been able to make a midweek pickup to get a 7th start (except for injuries, etc.); I tried to promote Norris from my minor league roster to get my 7th start a couple years ago and it was ruled invalid (not that it really made a difference because he put up negative points anyway). I think it should be allowed, however, as long as the total roster size stays legal. As far as extra starts are concerned I agree with dropping the highest score. It would make it easier because start time wouldn't matter and we wouldn't have to deep track of whether it's somebody's first offense or not.
  3. He's obviously broken. At least 7 runs, maybe more, including a grand slam in 1/3 inning. The Cubs just can't afford for this crap to continue.
  4. Wow. I know it's still only April, but those ERAs for our rotation look pathetic. Garza's isn't bad, but the others are. Dempster especially surprises me given his good Spring Training.
  5. From what I read Dempster is starting, with Coleman pushed back to Sunday, when Russell would have been scheduled to start.
  6. There's something wrong with being contrarian all the time. I think that's what killed jersey/gooney in the end Yes. He's been posting again for the past several days.
  7. I am not sure if I am being insensitive here but, doesn't he have a cell phone? Why does he need to be down there to "make sure" his family is ok? Maybe someone is unaccounted for or there was extensive damages to a family members property. If so, I retract my statement and wish the Oswalt family all the best. I'm sure he has a cell phone, but it's possible his family lost phone service and he can't get through.
  8. According to a later update, the reason is concern for his family in light of the tornadoes in Mississippi. He wants to go home and make sure his family is OK. he Phillies hope for his return in time for his next start.
  9. My first bad pitching decision of the week was benching Norris. That may come back to haunt me, especially since Davis will lose his second scheduled start this week because of tonight's rainout.
  10. liar Maybe it's different depending on the board style. I just tried it again...works for me. Bingo. I normally use Prosilver and it doesn't work, but I tried changing to Subsilver2 and it worked just as you described.
  11. When I select a letter it just takes me back to the board index page.
  12. Not just a record, but one that can never be broken (although it could conceivably be tied). They've literally been at every possible .500 record through 20 games. No longer than a two game winning streak and two game losing streak, no better than 1 over .500, no worse than 1 under.
  13. Heh, so it happens other places as well besides here. Pathetic When did that happen here? I think he's talking about when those overseas hackers took advantage of our vulnerable front page That was last year then, I remember, there was some strange graphic that said you have been hacked by such and such. I believe Tim had to do a lot of rebuilding from that attack. Some features still aren't working properly.
  14. I ate at the one in Montgomery several years ago and thought it was pretty good. I also liked the ice cream for dessert (I had raspberry chocolate chip). I've never been to the one downtown.
  15. Closer to last than first. :(
  16. I'm the only 0-3 team in the league. :( I actually had a good week scoring (6th highest point total of the week), but I was against the team with the second highest score.
  17. Dolphins' WR Brandon Marshall has been stabbed with a knife by a woman and is in intensive care. He is expected to be OK.
  18. I'm down by nearly 90, but have a one start advantage. A no-no from Lincecum this weekend and I'm right back in it.
  19. It's not just holds. Wins and quality starts show up on your team's stats too. I know we don't count wins, and I don't think we count quality starts (in my opinion a totally meaningless stat as it currently stands) either.
  20. No. I was hoping he'd keep the job for at least this week. Now he's going to settle into middle relief and throw a few garbage shut out innings for your team. There are several middle relievers putting up more points than closers. Your better off going with them most of the time rather than the piss that is Franklin. Interestingly, Franklin himself gave me positive points today after being replaced as closer. I still plan to replace him when I can next week, though.
  21. Drop Vmart, add Gomes. And pray for no more injuries since this is my last move before the All-Star break.
  22. Fair enough; I'll replace him for next week then.
  23. I believe Tampa Bay's owner has a financial stake in Manchester United, which is the reason for their frequent involvement. It may be that other teams aren't willing to give up a home game.
  24. I don't recall if this specific issue has been addressed before, but is a relief pitcher losing his job as closer a valid reason for a midweek witch? Franklin has been replaced as closer by St. Louis.
