  1. Nope, I dropped Ka'aihue (I haven't quite given up on Alderson yet). I forgot that I only had to drop one minor leaguer; I was able to transfer Castro to my major league DL (since that's his actual status in baseball) and I had one open pot when I promoted Chatwood.
  2. he must have been just added to the database. Or recently dropped by another Roadkill manager and not yet cleared waivers. Maybe he's claiming one of the minor leaguers I dropped to make room for the prospects from the Lincecum trade.
  3. Unnecessary, since they could have transferred Cashner to the 60-day DL, but I don't think it would be any great loss, either, if another team claimed him on waivers.
  4. The article did say that it's treatable, so at least there may be some glimmer of hope.
  5. He's converting to pitcher. I believe he's in extended Spring Training.
  6. Or they could move Cashner to the 60-day DL. With his setback he'll probably be out at least that long anyway.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6596167 Apparently he was acquired for a minor leaguer who has not yet been identified and will be added to the Cubs' roster tomorrow.
  8. This is correct. Although there's a bit of inconsistency; the exemption limit is 50 plate appearances, but the minor league eligibility limit is 200 at-bats. Agree - it doesn't make sense. We should have one or the other as the standard. It probably wasn't intentional; the rules were written several years apart. The minor league eligibility rules have been the same since before I joined the league, but the exemption rules were put in just a few years ago. Before that any major league appearances (even 1 plate appearance or 1 pitching appearance) burned an exemption.
  9. I gave up my 1st round pick in the prospect draft, we swapped 1st round picks in the regular draft, I gave up my 3rd (I believe) round pick in the regular draft, plus Volquez.
  10. This is correct. Although there's a bit of inconsistency; the exemption limit is 50 plate appearances, but the minor league eligibility limit is 200 at-bats.
  11. I read that he broke his leg and tore ligaments in his ankle and is probably out for the year. Unfortunate, but it's part of baseball.
  12. I'll let you two talk trash back and forth. Meanwhile I'll bask in the belief that, even if it turns out I didn't choose the best offer, it's still a good return on investment compared to what I gave up to get Lincecum just a few months ago. :D
  13. NC Cubs receive Galesburg Hand Sanitizers' 2nd round pick in regular draft and 1st round pick in prospect draft as part of Lincecum trade.
  14. I'm sure everybody thought they had a better offer, but like beauty it's in the eye of the beholder. Too bad I only had one Lincecum to trade.
  15. All good offers, but in the end I thought Adam's was best because it included top prospects at two premium positions. Let the flaming begin; I have thick skin.
  16. So they're going to beat themselves.
  17. I'm confused about what point you're making. I think he's making fun of his earlier post: You're probably right. I was just trying to figure out if he was still calling the signing bad or just joking about his original typo. Could be a bit of both.
  18. Not trying to sway my opinion, are you? :D

  20. I'm starting a new thread rather than cluttering up the normal weekly thread, which I should have done in the first place. I've been getting enough PMs that it's hard to respond to each one individually. At the moment I'd have to say the offers I like best are Dominic Brown, Hank Conger, Grant Green, and #1 pick in the 2012 prospect draft or Ike Davis, Casey Kelly, Matt Moore, and #1 pick in the 2012 prospect draft (I keep going back and forth between the two). I've received a few other good offers as well, but in my mind they are a bit short of the two I mentioned. I still plan to decide by tomorrow morning or around noon, so there's still time. I don't know if this is the best way to approach trading, but it seems to be working since I'm getting very competitive offers. Sometimes there's something to be said for being an also-ran. :D
  21. Make that five managers interested in Lincecum. Latest (and current best, in my opinion) offer is a starting 1B with two exemptions remaining, plus two pitchers in the top 40 of BA's prospect rankings, plus a first-round pick in the 2012 prospect draft. I'm not going to win the championship this year, but I may have a say in who does. :D
  22. Four managers have now expressed serious interest in trading for Lincecum. Since his next start isn't until Friday I plan to wait until Thursday morning to see what the best offer is; I owe it to myself to get as much as I can. So far what seems to me like the best offer is a top OF prospect and a top C prospect (both of whom are now in the majors with at least two remaining exemptions) plus a first round pick in next year's prospect draft.

    Week 8

Josh Hamilton returns in style, with his first dinger of the season in his first AB off of the DL.
  24. Definitely needs to be addressed, since it may have an impact on what Lincecum is worth. :D
  25. I think it's a given that an outfielder will be called up before tomorrow's game. Calling up a pitcher to replace Byrd on the roster was a move for one game, to provide bullpen depth behind Russell. It would be an interesting story if it is Montanez: Former Cubs' #1 draft pick makes Cubs' debut more than a decade after being drafted after first spending time in the ex-Cubs' rest home in Baltimore. :D
