  1. Put the nail in the 2009 coffin? At worst we are 6 games back with 49 to go.
  2. My favorite part is when you can see Rollins nearly throw his mitt over the call and yet he gets nothing. Then you see Victorino raises his arms 200 hundred feet farther away and the ump decides that is enough but not when Rollins nearly throws his mitt to the ground in disgust.
  3. Why do people still ask this dumb question. Maybe you don't dislike Cardinal players simply because they play for our arch rival but a whole lot of people do.
  4. He is not a machine.
  5. I've won my league the last two years so my team name is, "Uno Dos Tres-Pete." I doubt anyone else finds it funny but I like everyone in my league having to see it every week.
  6. he hit another grand slam today. i heard he is 7 for 9 with bases loaded this year including 5 grand slams. i havent checked that stat yet but if its true that is just ridiculous. i would consider walking in a run.
  7. I'm not optimistic about Gorz at all. I saw him pitch and get lit up in AAA with the Indianapolis Indians earlier this year. He had the velocity but the other team was hitting the crap out of his fastball. I don't see why we are bothering with him but I do hope he kicks butt.
  8. i would rather have not heard peavy went to the white sox. i dont see how what andy originally said was bad. all he said was it wasnt what he wanted to hear. i would much rather peavy still be a padre than white sox.
  9. Pedro. Not only one of the hardest to hit in his prime but also he had no problem of hitting you if you did something to piss you off.
  10. I'll take a second and third team to make it 14. I don't know if you meant that jokingly, but I don't believe in an owner having more than one team in the same league. There's still plenty of time before the draft for others to express interest. I was being serious. This way I can two teams that always like my trade offers no matter how lopsided they seem.
  11. Home team gets last line change in hockey. Home ice/court/field advantage is huge in any sport because of the comfort level the athletes have... being around their family, home cooking, being able to sleep in their own beds. Also, the most glaring advantage is the energy you get from the crowds. - go to 1:45 -- that would give any team a huge boost from the start of the game. Hawks fans are awesome. Beat me to it with the last line change in hockey point. On another note, one thing that irritates me about current day broadcasts is I'm pretty sure they mute out the fans. For example, if you watch the Calgary/Chicago replays on NHL Network, you would think you could hear a needle drop in the building. But from some firsthand accounts I've heard, that was the loudest building they'd ever been in. Point being I would enjoy broadcasts of any sport much more if they totally included all the fan noise and energy in it. It's a ton more exciting, nerve-racking, and gets the adrenaline flowing. I would love to hear the crowd noise too but the problem is you will get cuss words left and right if you can actually pick up the fans. I've heard a f-bomb before on a broadcast of a college basketball game from a fan close to where they were picking up the crowd noise from.
  12. So I saw an interesting fact the other day. Supposedly Ludwick is the first Cardinal ever to have two multi-home run games in a single season at Wrigley. I would have thought someone over the many years had done it before but I guess not. Couldn't help but have a sudden urge to throw my phone when I saw the stat while surfing the web on it.
  13. how mad would you be if you were cost a perfect game because of an error? didnt some guy lose a game a long time ago despite no hits and no walks?
  14. I like this little fact that I saw on the bottom of some site (don't remember which): Andruw Jones' had three home runs yesterday matching his total for the entire 2008 season.
  15. I'll take a second and third team to make it 14.
  16. I will be attending the N.O. Zephyr's vs. Iowa Cubs game tonight. Never been to a Cubs minor league game. Only gone to Indianapolis Indians baseball games in the minors. Gonna get tickets behind the Cubs dugout and be decked out in Cubs gear. I post anything of interest that I see later tonight or tomorrow.
  17. Lilly deserves it more but it could easily be Zambrano. He has the name and his stats aren't too bad and not a lot worse than Lilly.
  18. I'm stunned. My brother has been a huge Titans fan since he started following the NFL in 1998 and McNair was his favorite player. He still wears his jersey during Sundays. This is just messed up. Found dead on July 4th. What happened? Robbery, infidelity (CBS says a female was also found dead) or something else.
  19. i havent been around much lately but if it hasnt been said yet then let me say we should make a push to get d lee in the all star game. he is killing it and now has really good numbers.
  20. 21. I think Gortat would make a good stop gap and then a great backup while Yao is out. Hopefully the Rockets can get him. I can also see us convincing Deke to unretire and play him 20 minutes or so a game and go with a small lineup with two of either Scola, Landry or Hayes.
  22. Three dramatic wins in a row! Sucks it comes during the week I don't have cable or internet yet (at a cafe for internet access).
  23. Looks like it was just one of those slow starts that he has always had in his career. I thought he was done being a great 1B too.
  24. Not surprised but I really liked being able to say that no evidence had ever come out so there is at least a chance he didn't cheat. One childhood hero gone.
  25. Uh Peyton still sucks in the playoffs. He just had one year where the defense went from crap to great. Anyways yeah Lakers win title joy :banghead: ... at least the Rockets pushed them the most and that was without half our team.
