  1. he must have gotten dumber I actually think he has. He has made a lot more bad decisions this year. Last year a guy like Miles wouldn't see the field and definitely wouldn't PH instead of Hoff. He did some dumb things last year but all managers do. This year its every game he does something that just simply makes absolutely zero sense.
  2. LOL at the thread title now. I like it.
  3. But the movie tells me I have to go because he built it. for you, i recommend to make it week long vacation. I can do an hourly blog of what I see. Hour one: Cornfield with baseball diamond in the middle. Hour two: Baseball diamond with corn surrounding it. Hour three: A gun with one bullet. Hour four: ........
  4. Bavetta, Crawford, Javie, et. al. will be strategically deployed to make sure that doesn't happen. Whatcho talking about? I find it interested four of the biggest names are still alive. Carmelo, Kobe, LeBron, Howard. I don't think that has to do with the officiating, I just wanted to point it out.
  5. BTW saw a top 10 of most misquoted movie quotes. One was from Field of Dreams. Which is it? "If you build it, they will come." "If you build it, he will come."
  6. But the movie tells me I have to go because he built it.
  7. You all need to apologize to CubmanPi for turning a Field of Dreams thread into Bull Durham thread. What'd he get 4 posts about Field of Dreams? What a bunch of jerks, jeez.
  8. Do you mean Bull Durham or Field of Dreams?
  9. I heard Len say in the pre-game the following day that the ball was "retrieved" & given to Scales; no details about whether there was any kind of trade, or if the fan gave it to him in person. By "retrieved" I took it to mean someone from Wrigley/Cubs staff got it from the fan... Well, I know this for a fact being as I was probably at most 10 people away from the guy who ended up getting* Theriot's 1st major league HR . They offered him a choice of 3 things, a signed ball by the entire team. A signed greg maddux jersey or a signed glove by Lee. *as one of my friends dropped it despite having a mitt. That's better than Andy. He lets a division clinching home run ball hit in Cinci land right next to him and not even notice. It was caught on TV too and I bring it up about once every other month to him. I'm a good ex-roommate.
  10. check the difference in babip to see why the ba is different. I see the difference but think that can still largely be explained by the new approach. When you are hitting more fly balls your average on balls in play will likely go down. When you are hitting line drives up the infield you will get a good average but won't get many XBH's. When you are hitting more fly balls (I'm assuming he is) you will get more XBH's but less hits overall.
  11. Last year I defended Lou this year he has left me perplexed at many of decisions.
  12. He's essnetially doing exactly what you would expect. He's hitting for a lower average but getting more walks. Then due to the HR's his RBI rate is up as is his slugging and thus OPS.
  13. Awesome. One of my favorite songs all-time. Listen to it weekly on my ipod or laptop.
  14. If it was something like a first career homerun I would do as someone already said and just ask to give it to him in person. If it was a ball a player who makes millions upon millions I would probably just ask for 1000. That would be nothing to the player but would make a world of difference to me.
  15. If by Marshall you mean Wells, then yes, I agree with you. Wells to the Penn and Marshall in the rotation would be best. I agree. I was just giving the most likely scenario if we were to trade for Peavy.
  16. Still doesn't explain why you would take a well above average starter out of the rotation so that he can be made back into being an average closer.
  17. This is what you call an epic fail. Dempster was an average closer so the idea is bad from the start. Then you think about how we would be much better off leaving Dempster in the rotation along with Peavy, moving Marshall to the pen and Gusman to closer and you get the epic part of the fail.
  18. I'm all for trading to get him back. Loved watching his curveball and watching batters not know what to do.
  19. Hey I take offense to the use of bum in your post. lol At least I didn't evoke the name of your favorite Purdue player. :hello: He's not actually my favorite. JJ is.
  20. Hey I take offense to the use of bum in your post.
  21. I'll take the baord going nuts and us winning over the board going ape**** and us losing.
  22. Look at it this way. At least now we get to load the bases and get our hopes up only to watch every batter fail to get the hit we need to win.
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw8R86N77PY&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.clutchfans.net%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D169096&feature=player_embedded That's the video of Kobe and Artest scrum that had Kobe get a tech and Artest run away to avoid hitting him. The NBA recinded the technical. When I saw it during the game I didn't think it was a technical. Watching this replay I think it should have been a tech. Its not a great angle because Kobe's body blocks a lot of it but you can see him start raising his elbow for no reason. He wraps his right arm around Artest so he won't move and then his left arm starts rising at the same time he starts to move towards Artest. The end result was Kobe's hand hitting Artest in the face. If this was the first time it had happened I would say it was probably an accident. But Kobe does crap like this anytime some guards him in a physical manner. Its a smart but very dirty play by Kobe. He gets in real close to Artest and hits him in a way that unless the ref was in the absolute perfect angle he wouldn't be able to see the planning that went into it. All they could see is the end result of Kobe's hand hitting Artest. I'm never one to root for a player to get injured but I'm getting to the point with Kobe after a knee to the neck, two elbows and now this that I wouldn't mind someone just taking his head off. He's one of those guys that is dirty, does things that could easily cause an injury to the other player and yet always gets away with it. He's like the coach's son who's extremely cocky but can only beat you in practice when he cheats and his dad looks the other way because its his kid.
