  1. We are going for three in a row. Also a win would even the season series with the White Sox 3-3. Ryan Dempster (8-7, 4.15 ERA 1.37 WHIP, 149.2 INN 129 SO) vs. Carlos Torres (0-0, 6.75 ERA 1.98 WHIP, 9.1 INN 8 SO)
  2. That would be sweet. Thank you. Thank you.
  3. Hey hey we won a game and we got Lilly on the mound for this game. Maybe we can start a win streak. Ted Lilly (9-8, 3.35 ERA 1.11 WHIP, 142.1 INN 118 SO) vs. Felipe Paulino (2-6, 6.96 ERA 1.72 WHIP, 64.2 INN 58 SO) Anyone else notice how few walks Lilly has given up this year. 29 walks compared to 118 strikeouts.
  4.  Very puzzling. Ah, behold the power of the blues.
  5. Cubs open a new month after the awe inspiring 10-17 August. Will this be another great performance from Wells with yet again no run support? Tune in to find out. Randy Wells (9-7, 3.06 ERA 1.22 WHIP) vs. Brian Moehler (8-9, 5.26 ERA 1.51 WHIP)
  6. Draft is over and I can now declare myself the favorite to win.
  7. Great message to send to his players: "We can't play UNC! Nooooooo!!!! " isiah Thomas is a [expletive] ass. How he continues to get jobs is beyond me. Isiah is not trying to back out of Coaches vs. Cancer, his school is. The contract was signed before he got there. Any good coach would tell the AD they want to play because he doesn't want his players doubting themselves. Why wouldn't they want to play UNC? More people are likely to watch and a win makes you a national story for a week. You beat Ohio State and it will likely be mentioned on Sportscenter but it won't be talked about everywhere.
  8. Yeah sorry was out for the night just got back. I'll get tomorrow's.
  9. I agree it's more about getting rid of Sori's contract but it also has something to do with getting Fox more at-bats.
  10. More info? The dude is 27 and has performed well in AAA and in the majors. He has almost 200 AB's in the majors and is OPSing over .850. It's time to either start him or trade him to a team that will. He is in his prime years.
  11. If we could find a taker I wouldn't be opposed to trading Soriano with use paying 1/3-1/2 of his remaining contract. Then have Fox concentrate on defense in LF all offseason. The money we save from getting rid of 1/2-2/3's of Sori's contract would be enough to sign a 2B (DeRosa?) and a good bullpen pitcher. With an offseason to concentrate on one position I think Fox could become at least the fielder that Soriano has been. This won't happen but I would be OK with it if it did.
  12. But how many RBIs? at least 42, but if he's in the 3-4-5 holes maybe a brazillion
  13. In honor of finally getting fed up with Crabtree I will be using Don't Have Crabs.
  14. Bill Dewitt Jr. has said "for the right" player" payroll could be seen as high as $120 million. It's nearly $100 million now with significant money coming off the books. The bigger contracts are fairly staggered , and if done right could be offset by expiring contracts. Financially, the Cards are in pretty good shape for the near future. It's just a matter of if Dewitt was just saying that to make the fanbase feel or good or if he really meant it.
  15. It has been established that the rumor came from a "what if" article in the Sun Times. So it just became a rumor, as things do. But it is not as far fetched as it seems. His contract will be up and he WILL be fielding offers. He and Mozelic (sp?) are not buddies. Mo' traded away Dave's boy to stop LaRussa from starting the guy. And the same day the pitcher batting 8th thing was Kyboshed. Anyone in the know can see that's no coincedence. My thinking is that IF the Cubs decide to let Lou go, they will make him a good offer. His ego will sorely tempt him. That and we will have a new owner who if Lou is let go will be looking to make a big splash and hire the best available, at least I hope our new owner would be. There is no bigger than LaRussa.
  16. It doesn't matter you are going to lose anyways.
  17. Huh? 8 pm EST 7:30 Central ... how is that possible? Which is it?
  18. Really dude? Haven't you be warned about this before? Oh wait you have been ... http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=53710&hilit=hummel&start=25 Tell you what though, I won't mention Robbie again. I think you are a good guy, I just tease sometimes. It isn't meant to be anything personal. If that's true then sorry for the over reaction. I've just grown sick of others constantly bringing up old comments for no real reason. If its just to joke around then I'm cool with it but some of them are done to piss me off. I've just gotten tired of not being able to post without someone bringing up Hummel, Windermere ... etc.

  20. If Holliday's market value is 15-18 million per year let's say he signs for a discount at 14 million per. Anything he signs will likely be at least a four year deal and likely quite a bit longer. That means come 2012 when Pujols is likely be a free agent again the Cardinals either let him walk or sign him and have around 40 million a year invested in just two players (assuming Pujols gets around 25-30 mil a year). That would be half the Cards payroll. Its going to be hard to field a good enough team to compete with just 40-50 million for everyone else. The Cardinals aren't going to let Pujols go which means they either raise payroll or be unable to sign other big name hitters.
  21. Oh, like I said. Carry on there, Dex. except you used rbi's and batting average to show that he hasn't hit, and those don't show that he hasn't hit it would have been perfectly acceptable if you had just used his slugging percentage Actually BA is the best way to tell if someone has gotten hits. Now if you want to know whether he has gotten extra base hits or overall been a productive offensively player you would want to use other statistics. batter A hits .300, but every hit is a single batter B hits .250, but every hit is a home run who is a better hitter? I am a supporter of OPS. I was merely pointing out that if you are talking strictly about hits and hits only BA is the stat would show who has hit and who hasn't.

  23. I can see the Onion article now. LaRussa charged with drug trafficking Caught smuggling large amount of pixie dust across statelines LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL You really have a bad obsession with me. I can't post without you replying a pointless waste of time response. You don't like me. Get over it. Ignore my posts I don't care just stop making pointless posts that derail threads.
