  1. Because the Cards don't think Heilman and Miles is enough for Pujols.
  2. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1779159,CST-SPT-cubnt19.article I guess for the right terms, I wouldn't mind DeRosa back. But considering what he might ask for, I think I much rather see if Jeff Baker can continue the end of 2009 into 2010, or pursue a guy like Roberts (via trade, if he becomes avail), or a more likely player like Hdson.
  3. Baseball ends on the last day of the season for me. But if there is one team that I might check in on while passing through the highlights, it would be the Phillies. I think they ae the one team, offensively, that can give the Yankees all they can handle and then some. If they can get a closer situation fixed before the playoffs, they would be my favorites to win it, moreso then the Yankees.
  4. What is getting me through the yr---other then college football---is the thought of the Cards pulling a Cub in the postseason and go out with a whimper. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but the pure thought of it, at least give me some positive thinking.
  5. At what point does Harden consider making the jump to closer?
  6. Who's McKlevin? I know of a McKelvin, but there is no McKlevin on Buffalo.....
  7. Yep. He brings what the Cubs looking for and is good at it. He brings speed to the top of the order, plus he is a "switch hitter", plus gold glove caliber defense at 2B. He isn't the speedster that Figgins is, but I like his all-around game better then Figgins.
  8. Trevor Miller of the Cards got a one year deal worth $2 mill. Again I would the same deal as Miller got with the Cardinals with an mutual option.
  9. This was part on ESPN play by play, so can someone please explain to me how a team can get a "negative error"?
  10. Agreed. $11-12 mill per for a player who has very little power? No thanks. Figgins seems to be the Juan Pierre of this yr's class. He's better than Pierre because he has a better OBP and better patience. But I wouldn't give him $11-12 a year. I prefer the other potential 2b FA that plays in the LA area.
  11. Agreed. $11-12 mill per for a player who has very little power? No thanks. Figgins seems to be the Juan Pierre of this yr's class.
  12. Grabow at anything above 1.5 per (2 at the max) isn't ideal, but neither is Casey Fossum as a loogy. At least Grabow has shown he can get major league hitters out. Ideally I would do a 1 yr deal (with an option) for about 1.5 to 2 mill (nothing more). But it also would hurt if the two sides can't agree to a deal.
  13. Yeah, the Blue Jays are definately smiling that they no longer are on the hook for THAT contract.
  14. It's being said (Adam Schafter) that the Bears are holding off on signing Derrick Brooks until they see how Roach and Hillenmeyer fare in the starting lineup. My guess is the Bears will sign Brooks the Monday after the Steelers game. I just don't see either playing even remotely solid.
  15. I agree. This idea of not changing the scheme even though you are dropping in overall talent is as stupid as not establishing Forte before the end of the half. To expect Hunter to be as productive as Urlacher is really not smart. This is soooooooooooo stupid. Derrick Brooks is a better OLB then Hunter is a MLB. So I don't know why Lovie is adament about this. Hunter is NOT good.
  16. I'm not convinced that moving Briggs to MLB would be a bad thing. I personally think Briggs in the middle and Derrick Brooks on the outside is better then Hunter in the middle and Briggs, as Briggs will get his regardless of which position he plays, but Brooks would be an upgrade over Hunter.
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't there a time where the Bears considered moving Briggs to MLB, but decided against it because they didn't want to upset Brian Urlacher?
  18. Oh great....the day after and the Cubs have to play the Brewers. B-e-a-utiful. Ok, Chicago North, you owe us....
  19. The game and this thread have given me a headache. I am one of the worse overreactors and even I know this game---while it does have the frustrations---isn't worth the overexaggerration in this thread. Kyle Orton would have won this game? Trading for Cutler was a big mistake? Gimme a break. Crap happens. To the Bears fans who are also Cubs fans, why are you surprised about everything that happened tonight? As for the Packers/Cubs fans, I swear if the Packers do something as stupid as "Untuck 'em" like he Brewers, then oh wait they did do something stupid, it was that did figure skating esque celebration that Rodgers did. Is there anything less macho then what Rodgers did? But oh well. Simple truth....there isn't that ONE great team in the NFC north, so the division is winnable. At least what I am telling myself tonight.
  20. Look, Cutler played pretty badly against the Bills in the preseason opener, but came back and played a great games against both NEW YORK GIANTS and the Denver Broncos. He played well against one of the better defenses in the Giants, and played great while playing in a hostile environment in Denver. So, if that continues I expect the Bears on the whole to play alot better next week. I know I am going to sound crazy especially after tonight's game, but I honestly believe the Bears will beat the Steelers next week. I think Cutler will play much better and the Bears will win another grind it out game. The Steelers are a tough team, no doubt, but the Bears have shown they can play up and beat teams like the Steelers. Tonight's sucks, and losing to the Packers is like pulling teeth without an anesthesia, but it happens. This game just reminds me of games like the Bucs/Falcons and Panthers of last yr.
  21. If there is one thing that I've learned from this game, is that the Packers are not as good as their preseason hype. With that said, the same can be said about the Bears. After game 1, neither team looks any better then a 9-7 team.
  22. Yea Id like to hear the reasoning for Bowman not starting opposite of Tillman. He's a veteran, dude. Wait a minute...... :-k wrong sport..........
