  1. I just thought to add to the mother-of-all-threads, atleast it's new: APPARENTLY, the O's are interested in Mark Loretta for 2B. The Astros have sent a scout over to watch the O's today.......so take it for what it is worth..... :-k turns to
  2. It was MINE....I thought it would kinda cool to see if I can get fans fooled. :D
  3. Somebody really needs to slap Hendry and tell him to forget about Roberts. It's obvious the O's don't want to trade him, unless they get a ridiculously rich offer.
  4. I don't buy this "O's are holding all the cards" theory you seemed to believe. Between DeRosa/EPatt and Fontenot, I pretty sure 2B will NOT be an issue for the Cubs. If the Cubs didn't have a legit 2B on their roster or in camp, I would buy it, but considering the presence of DeRosa (specifically) and Patterson/Fontenot, I would say the Cubs have as much leverage in this deal as the O's. Which is why, I believe that while Hendry is prolly frustrated at the lack of progress in the talks, that doesn't mean he will rush into blindly.
  5. Spill it. I've heard of one faint rumor with the Indians. I heard the Mets considered Roberts before reupping with Castillo. And if memory serves me correctly, the Padres had some interests in Roberts. Plus the M's considered Roberts. Outside of those teams, the interest in Robert, atleast publically, have been lukewarm. So again, fill in why you think it's "false?"
  6. Shoot, another yr comes, and another yr goes without that mythical Spring Training World Series trophy. When will the Cubs finally win such a mythical championship?
  7. Sweet Lou isn't going to "explode" because of a ST game, but I pretty sure, he'll let the team know that this "losing games late" crap will not be tolerated. As for Shingo, I felt since the signings, this was nothing more then to give Fukudome a "countryman" in camp. But I pretty sure, "Mr. Zero" knows that if he wants to play baseball in 2008, it will be either in Japan, or Iowa, or some AAA team.
  8. We have a game of chicken going on between friends; Hendry and McP. Call it pride, call it stubbornness, but Hendry rarely doesn't get his target. But in all honest, I say make the best offer you can make (Gallagher or Marshall, Cedeno/Patterson, Veal) and tell Balt that this is "our" final offer. Don't accept, and we'll look elsewhere. Force MacPhail into blinking. People have to remember that Baltimore hasn't really had any other interests in Roberts other then the Cubs. The burp with the Indians, was simply to drum up interests. Bottomline: Hendry needs to put the cards on the table, and force the O's into a decision, one way or another.
  9. W/e, I only go by what I see. And I never said Meddenhall wasn't any good, nor did I say he needed to be in the SEC (although it helps dramatically over playing in the questionable Big Ten), all I said was Felix Jones is a better RB, then Meddenhall, plan and simple. And had it not been for Darren McFadden, Felix Jones would clearly be taken ahead of Meddenhall. Beisdes....who wants to draft a Big Ten RB, we all know Big 10 RBs, are like Florida Gator WRs, you just don't trust a high pick with them.
  10. Then people outside of the SEC should feel honoured to be watching to BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL CONFERENCE in the nation. And if anybody still thinks RB from Illinois is better then Jones, then.......I must be loopy. It wouldn't surprise me....if Jones gets taken in front of the RB from Illinois.
  11. I hear Bill Romanowski for LBer is a possibility for Dallas.
  12. That's the only thing I can think of as to why this trade is being held up. I am believing that Baltimore is hoping (for the lack of a better word) for an injury, and that a team will need a 2b (PERHAPS, White Sox), and that they can finally get a bidding war for Roberts. I simply wish Hendry would get off this Roberts for leadoff gibberish, and go with the team as is. Wasting 3 months for a player like Roberts is not worth it. And if Roberts REALLY wanted out of Balitmore, he would go publicly about wanting to be traded.
  13. oh, i understand now. w/e All I am SAYING...understand is that I saw Felix Jones alot, and he is IMO, the 2nd best back in the draft. Not to mention he is an electrifying return, in the mold of a Devin Hester. Not saying, he will have a start to his career like Hester, but he is simply electric with the ball in his hands. So IMO, Jones is better the Meddenhall.
  14. I'm not saying just because he played in the SEC he must be the great runningback...no..no. I'm saying seeing as I live in the SEC (Alabama), I got to watch alot of SEC RBs, and I'm saying......Felix Jones is arguably the 2nd best RB in this yr's draft. But due to him splitting time with McF, his value drops, because nobody knows if he "can be the man". But I do know he had 400 yrds LESS then Meddenhall, with 130 fewer carries then Meddenhall. Not to mention he had a higher YPC, the Meddenhall. Bottomline is, there is NO NEED to take Meddenhall at the 14th spot, if Jones is still available near the end of the first rd.
  15. No, going by what I saw from Felix Jones.........HERE IN THE HEART OF SEC FOOTBALL. I like Meddenhall, but he isn't in the same class with Jones. Had it NOT been for the presence of Darren McFadden, Jones could have easily rushed for 1800 yrds, and without a doubt would had been the Heisman winner. In layman's term....Felix Jones is a better pro prospect, IMO, then Meddenhall, who has only one good yr to his name. The only reason why Jones is considered a low first rd, high 2nd rd pick (if he there when the Bears pick in the 2nd rd, they would be FOOLS to not take him, if they are planning to draft a RB) is because he had to split time with McF.
  16. Williams would be good at 14, but if the OL aren't there I'd go Mendenhall. Either way I'd be happy. The Bears are NOT going RB in the first rd, unless they trade down. And I prefer the OBVIOUSLY superior Felix Jones to Meddenhall. i hate the illini and am a big felix jones fan... Meddenhall is better, and I think he is going to be quite good in the NFL. it doesnt matter because either clady or williams will be available and either will start at Lt for us next year. Jones has been better in his college career (check up the stats), even in a platoon situation. IMO, Meddenhall is not better then Jones. Had Jones not be in a platoon situation, he would be in front of Meddenhall.
  17. The only thing that DLee said, that could be remotely taken as critical, specifically, of Fuk's signing was the comment about the Cubs obsession with left handed hitting. Anyway, he's friends with Hunter so his judgment in wanting him on the team is clouded. Torri is full of it any way because I heard him interviewed on The Score last year saying he didn't want to play for the Cubs because of the brick walls at Wrigley Field (he did go on to say that it was his childhood team). I also read that Torii is good friend with Jacques Jones and LaTroy Hawkins, and I am pretty sure those two did not give a ringing endorsement of the Cubs to Hunter. Which is fan, I much rather have Felix Pie in CF, then a grossly overpaid OF.
  18. Williams would be good at 14, but if the OL aren't there I'd go Mendenhall. Either way I'd be happy. The Bears are NOT going RB in the first rd, unless they trade down. And I prefer the OBVIOUSLY superior Felix Jones to Meddenhall.
  19. It not so much he missed on "selling high" on the Knicks picks, it just think his picks were questionable then, and even moreso today. You pass on both LMA and Roy to take Thomas. Very questionable. technically, he picked LMA and then traded him for Thomas Which makes it even worse. Yes it does.
  20. as rotoworld said, it could be simply the Bears hiding their interests in Andre Woodson. With that said, I hope they stay away from Woodson.
  21. It not so much he missed on "selling high" on the Knicks picks, it just think his picks were questionable then, and even moreso today. You pass on both LMA and Roy to take Thomas. Very questionable.
  22. Me neither. But a couple of thoughts come from the ideal of the Bears signing Julius Jones: 1: The Bears acknlowledge that APete is not an ideal backup/legit contender for Benson. Thus this would keep APete in the special teams, and the occasional spot start. 2: It would signal that Garrett Wolfe is nothing more then a CoP back. The Bears need a legit contender for Benson, and they are likely NOT to take another RB in the first three rds. And if the Bears are considering a RB via FA, it's either Chris Brown, Julius Jones, or Warrick Dunn. IMO, Jones is a better bet then Brown or Dunn. But it wouldn't surprise me if the Bears bring in Chris Brown, seeing as they had interests in him last yr. Brown actually had better stats last year than Jones - 4.5 y/c for Brown vs 3.6 y/c for Jones. Jones was better in the passing game, though, gaining almost 9 y/r vs almost 7 y/r for Brown - that may have had something to do with the far superior Cowboy passing game, though. Through their careers they've been very similar, but Brown has a slight advantage in yards per carry career - 4.3 (Brown) vs 3.9 (Jones). I would probably take Brown over Jones, though like I said they're very similar RBs. Isn't Chris Brown a Chicago native?
